History

Established in 1910.

Carl Gunther emigrated from Germany in 1896 after his graduation from a four year apprenticeship in the metal working trade. He worked various jobs in Salt Lake City. Following his marriage, he purchased a small farm in Lehi and established a small sheet metal shop near his home about 1910. His son Orville worked in his shop and learned the trade. During the depression, Orville pursued teaching and taught in American Fork High School until 1940. In 1940 he was asked to teach the sheet metal trade at Provo High School. The program later became Central Utah Vocational School and then a part of Utah Valley State College in Orem. In 1942 Carl passed away and Orville decided to leave teaching to operate the business full time. Orville made the decision to provide quality material, equipment, and labor. He wanted to be the best, not necessarily the cheapest. This philosophy was sound, as the company is the oldest operating heating and air conditioning business in Utah County.
