Mike Barney Nissan

Upon receiving our licenses collectively and the urgent need to acquire a car for academic reasons in the fall, my friend and I have been visiting auto dealerships throughout Buffalo. We spent a few weeks crunching numbers, gathering information on reasonable deals, and conversing with various salespeople about potential payment plans that would be optimal for individuals shopping within a budget.
… we pay this place a visit.
The lady at the front desk greets us, then directs us to Mark Sadri. Typical inquiries ensue: what we want/don’t want/​budget, etc. We spend about 30 minutes looking at different cars and my friend decides that she’s interested in a secondhand Hyundai Elantra. We go back inside, my friend states that she’s heavily considering this car but she would have to talk to her mother first. Listen, we are college students. Not many people have the luxury to have their parents financially support their way of life. My friend has to pay rent, food, transportation, tuition, etc. by herself. On top of that, car insurance is high for adults in their early 20’s and both of us are barely 21. It is not unreasonable to take some time to think about a considerably significant purchase such as a car. It is not unreasonable to sleep on it and pull up all available options before jumping the gun. At this point, I see Mark filling up some paperwork (again, my friend just said she was very INTERESTED, not that she was definite on handing over three years of her life paying for car bills on top of student loans) but it got weird… he was slightly covering the top of the form with his hand and hunching over it as if he was trying to hide something. He told my friend that they were going to check her credit first but after a bit I see him filling out a PURCHASE FORM. Listen! We have only been here for an hour and a half! My friend fills out credit information and asks if they were going to do a hard or soft credit check because the former can potentially harm credit scores. Mark claims they were going to do the latter only. While negotiating further, my friend keeps mentioning that she would need to talk to her mother about it first. Mark then aggressively accuses her of not being serious and pressures her into making a rash decision. The whole time he was trying to make her sign the papers and even goes as far as saying things like «this is just a deposit, you can get your money back anytime» over and over. Then, one of his interns runs in and claims he «sold» the Elantra to a third party who paid a deposit, in which Mark tells my friend that it would go fast and then says that he could reserve it for her instead if she also paid a deposit, since he had the keys in his pockets. Okay? But wait. The Elantra was sold… to someone… so why would Sadri promise my friend that she could buy this car if it was sold already? Are there two Elantras? No. At this point, I’m already mentally tired and hoping this wouldn’t drag past 8pm because I had homework to do and Chipotle closes early.
Some other clerk comes up to my friend in a bit and says «sorry, we can’t get you a used car, your credit is too limited for such a purchase. We can get you a new car instead.» Please, someone tell me… how does that make sense. We go back outside and Mark tries to coerce my friend into getting a new Sentra but my friend refuses as a deposit was made and papers for the Elantra have been signed already. We leave, and the following morning we returned because my friend wanted a refund on her deposit. Sadri isn’t here, so the lady at the front desk «processes» it for us and says that they would contact us in a few hours so we could pick it up. Later in the afternoon my friend hears nothing from them, and finds out that the dealership ran FIVE CREDIT-​DAMAGING!!! HARD CREDIT CHECKS ON HER.
My friend finally received her deposit back this afternoon but when she brought up the subject about the hard credit inquiries Sadri ignored her completely. When we walked in, the clerks upfront gave off ungenuine vibes… you know how some people are fake friendly because as service workers they feel obligated to keep a smile on their face no matter what? It was kind of like that. It didn’t help the fact that this other service worker (probably a sales boy) with the faux blonde hair and bushy/​unkempt eyebrows kept side-​eyeing us severely… as if he was in any position to do so. These people are selling Nissans (LMAO) and used cars that are likely congested with year-​old farts. So please. This is a shady company as they definitely tried to take advantage of my friend. I wouldn’t accuse them of doing this to everyone though, I’m sure that being students and her being financially vulnerable led them to their sketchy actions. I would be cautious if you don’t have a habit of standing your ground and I’d advise you to spend your money elsewhere but I’m sure they don’t treat every single customer this way… so again, take this as you will.

I was looking to trade my sedan for an SUV/​crossover and had checked a number of competing brands at dealerships both locally and nationally, in the process obtaining several quotes on my trade. Nissan was not my first choice but after researching their SUV lineup I stopped by Mike Barney’s and met up with Chris K., their Internet Manager. Inside of 48 hours I had closed on a deeply discounted new SUV with all the key features I had been seeking. Of all the dealerships I had consulted, I found Mike Barney to be the most flexible in price negotiations and trade valuation. If you’re in the market for a great deal and appreciate excellent customer service, I recommend that you stop by Mike Barney’s and ask for Chris.

I was looking for a Nissan Mirano in my price range and Christian Kivi at Mike Barney was able to get me exactly what I wanted with no games! He helped me turn in my lease too and I was able to avoid a few fees because of him! He remembers us when we come in and is just an overall nice guy. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a car.

If I could I would give Mike Barney Nissan zero stars!!! My husband and I went into the dealership on December 22 inquiring about trading in our Van for a used Vehicle. We spoke with Tony a salesman, and he recommended trading it in for a leased vehicle. We chose a vehicle and filled out all the necessary paperwork. He took it all back to a manager and then came back and almost rushed us out the door it seemed like. He said he would contact us once he heard anything. We understood it was right before the holidays and we might not hear back right away. On December 27^th I then called back and left a message for Mike one of the managers just looking for an update. Guess what??? Nothing!!! Not a single phone call back from anyone. I am beyond furious with the customer service we received. Needless to say I will never go back to this dealership nor will I ever refer anyone to this dealership. I work in customer service and I will be damned if I dont follow up with customers when I say I am going to, that I dont get chewed out. Future recommendation to those at Mike Barney Nissan follow up with your customers even if you dont have a definitive answer and let the customer know your still working on it!

Although I didn’t purchase my current Nissan at Mike Barney, I’ve been taking it there for service for almost as long as I’ve owned it. The customer service I receive there is always excellent. They’ve almost always had the car done within an hour, and when they couldn’t, they made sure I had transportation to and from work, and when needed, a loaner car to get around in.
The service staff always treat me with respect, explain everything they are doing, and don’t talk down to me — which I truly appreciate. I’m never surprised with costs, as they are very upfront about everything.
The waiting area is top notch, clean, comfortable, and the cookies are a nice touch.
When I’m ready to buy a new Nissan, I know I’ll be heading to Mike Barney!

After the lease on my Rogue was up, I contacted Mike Barney because of the great service I experienced here in the past. Since I leased out of state, I never had a «home» dealership here. Joe Grimaldi contacted me to figure out my next move.
Joe was great from start to finish. He looked into all options, helped me find the price point I wanted, and was very helpful. I recommend doing business with him! I like no nonsense business dealing. I have no problem being decisive and usually know what I want. So I appreciate doing business with someone who can accommodate that.
I had originally considered leasing a JUKE but after test driving one, I decided it wasn’t for me. It’s too small for me and has too many unnecessary bells and whistles that I didn’t care for, but a driving/​racing enthusiast might. So I decided to go back to the Rogue, which had been a great car for me!
The nice thing about looking for cars close to the year end is that you can get GREAT deals on «last year’s» model. I got a great lease with nothing down for $ 100 less per month than what I would have paid for a new 2014 Rogue (they are redesigned for this year). It’s only a few dollars more than what I was paying before. My new ride is a 2013 but had 3 miles on it. And it was the color I originally wanted 4 years ago (Bordeaux Black). They threw in Bluetooth so I get to play around with that feature and can plug my iPhone right into the console to synch my iTunes.
I will most definitely be back to see Joe at lease end for my next Nissan. And I look forward to going there for service. See my original review for details on their great service department!

Worst customer service in the universe!!!
Their salesman (Eric Johannesen) was so rude, and finally when I asked him to give me a quote for the Nissan Rogue, his answer was «it will take a lot of effort, go shop around and call me when you’re ready». When I asked to see the sales manager (Terry Riorden), he refused to see me, and when I insisted, he came out of his office saying «Thats how we train our salesmen to do business, and we dont aim to please everyone or sell our cars to anyone»!!!
I have spoken to other people and car dealers and they weren’t surprised. Apparently that is well known for the Mike Barney’s employees

Brought car in for warranty work left with a gas leak damaged door and torn out lower front facia. Went back in and (Craig jr) the owner said it was too bad and my fault bringing my car there. I guess they let their employes joy ride in customers cars.
