Go to the Niagara Falls location instead. This location on Sheridan Dr has absolutely incompetent customer service who does not know which inventory they carry nor can help you choose. In fact they looked bored and busier texting on their cell phone than helping us out. On the other hand the Niagara Falls Blv location has excellent customer service, and it’s not that much farer away, so definitely worth the extra mile.

I try to support mom and pops all the time. So when I posed a question to the Unilocal crowd about finding a specific light bulb I was thrilled when I was pointed this way. First off, parking is easy here. Cant deny that. Getting into the lot from Sheridan also easy, and number of different entrance options etc. Tons of spots. This is a large store, with many hanging lights, chandeliers, etc. All beautifully hung and displayed. Its also a busy store, seems this is the place to come when you have lighting questions, issues or are redoing the kitchen etc. My first time it was so busy no one even acknowledged me for 5 minutes AFTER I STARTEDTIMINGIT, so had already been in the store for some time. I left. They clearly were too busy for me. I went back a week or so later, really want to support the local guy and really do want that lamp to work again. I went in, and there was a man, not doing anything, behind the counter(there are two, but this is the one that is closest to the door), he SAWME and then walked into the back somewhere. Really? There was no one else. Then a woman walks in with some sort of lamp in her hand and he comes out and they begin chatting. He never acknowledges me. Now I get I’m not a regular. But I am a customer. I wait. And Wait. There are other employees visible in the back behind closed doors but windows they can see me through. Finally someone comes back from lunch, puts her bag in another office area, and then realizes no one else is going to help me so she just might have to. And she did. They do carry the bulb I was looking for, not available on the shelves, but behind the counter, and I pay $ 14 for it. I’m happy I have the bulb I want, I really am. And I’m happy to know they carry it. But IF I ever go back it will be after I call them and ask them to have it waiting for me. So that I don’t spend 30 minutes trying to buy one lousy light bulb. They get 5 stars for seemingly having anything and everything lighting or lighting display related you could want. They get 2 stars for customer service(one is for the terrific parking, the other because Unilocal defaults to 1). Ill round to 3, and I feel its a round up. They take MC, Visa, Amex and of course cash. ***They are located in the same area as Miss Hot Café, so I do encourage you to time your trip accordingly for lunch at Miss Hot Café.

When I bought my late Victorian house about 10 years ago, I had a lot of trouble finding light fixtures with on-board switches.(Since the house was designed for gaslights, the electrician recommended these so I wouldn’t have to damage the walls adding switches.) He pointed me toward Royalite and he was right – they were able to hook me up with great lights. The sconces I selected for the walls didn’t come with switches, but they had an on-site technician drill out the mounting plate and add them for me! In about 20 minutes I was out the door! Fast forward to this week. I recently spent a LOT of time looking around on line for a ceiling fixture to use in remodeling our«parlor.» I wanted something not-too-fussy, but still in the spirit of the Victorian era. Most of the options I found were okay, but priced at $ 500 to $ 600. Before shelling out that much money, I decided to try Royalite again – and had another success. I picked out a beautiful chandelier that looks a LOT like the ones I favored on-line, but for about $ 350LESS! Once again, the staff was friendly, quick, and able to answer all of my questions about the lighting units on display. I was totally impressed – and glad I got to spend my money at a local store instead of sending it out of state to a national operation! Royalite stocks a wide variety of styles from the modest to the extravagant. Contemporary, classic, retro, MCM, mission – you name it. Price points range from about $ 30 for simple fixtures up to about $ 1500 for the fanciest crystal chandelier I spotted.
