The Electra is a one-of-a-kind outsider art gallery /performance venue. It is not Disney tourist safe, there’s no Uncle Walt here to construct a wonderful life-affirming journey for you, only a luchadore-masked curator with a razor-sharp wit and a jovial anti-establishment personality. You are not a customer here, you are an explorer. Do not expect to be mindlessly entertained. This is also not the kind of gallery where you should stare at a canvas and stroke your chin(although you should never do that anyway, not even in normal museum, because it makes you look like an asshole). Ask questions. Fart out loud, even. The art on the walls ranges from industrial collage to pop surrealism; Imagine Rob Zombie, Mark Ryden, Barbara Kruger, Alexander Calder and Shag splattered all over the walls with a paintball gun. For artists and musicians, it is perhaps the only creative sanctuary in Anaheim’s banal landscape of warehouses and miniature golf courses. A really special place. The gallery is open Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9PM, and shows usually take place on Saturday nights. Check in often. PS, it’s hard to find – like, Where’s Waldo hard to find. Really, the Electra finds you.

Pretty interesting place hidden in a business park in a quiet area of Anaheim. Who would think there’d be a venue/art gallery hidden back here? My friend volunteers here and is going to start booking bands in the next few months. I came to hang out last night and bought a membership. It was 5 bucks. I don’t really know what this entails but it seems like a cool place to hang out when they have stuff going on. Oh, and there’s a cat named PA. She’s sweet.

I haven’t been here in years, and truth be told, I kinda forgot about this place. I was cleaning up some stuff, and I found my old membership card to this place, and I wanted to see if it was up on Unilocal. I played keys for a band, and we played a show here. The owner and the staff were really nice and very accommodating. They have a good sized stage, and room for an audience to sit or stand. The place is a bit out of the way, though. I remember that night we played there, I got lost and was almost late for my own show. Why three stars? I don’t arbitrarily give out 4 or 5 stars. I played one show here, and never came back. However, my experience there was positive, so three stars it is.

I love this place! Let me tell you that there is nothing like this in ALL of ORANGECOUNTY!!! It is an excellent hidden gem with lots of interesting contemporary art. It is an art COOP that usually accepts any art(AAA electra all art accepted) If you’re a young artist or musician in OC this is a great place to hang out to be inundated with art and new music, not to mention the cool wheel of prizes and movie nights all at a reasonable price. Let me say if you’re a musician who wants to have a large interesting venue this is the venue for you which has no cover charge just bring heads to your show. Any art is accepted so show us your art and have it show cased to various crowds of new interesting people. SPEND A WEDNESDAY here and see how unique and awesome this place really is. Electra has never fallen prey to other OC art outfits that like to rip artists off, censor works and fall prey to petty scenes. The Previous remark does not do justice to AAA electra 99 at all. It is in an industrial part of town but it is unique rare and has a very warm speak easy atmosphere. The owner of AAA is awesome, he has interesting stories really cool art and an interesting entourage. drop in wednesday and follow the myspace for AAA electra 99 you will be very glad you did.
