Anaheim General Hospital

I had to visit the ER (2+ years ago) and though the wait time was less and staff plus doctor were ok to work with, my paperwork was messed up and i received an exaggerated bill in the mail.
any ER you walk into, first thing they do is NOT take your vitals but get your information including insurance. in my case, i was covered not just for the visit to ER but the hospital was part of the ‘group’. yet the hospital wasted no time in sending a fat bill. its an uphill journey to get them to fix their errors.
i also learned (later on) that this hospital has lost its (certain) accreditation more then once. this is a place to be avoided at all cost.

I’m going through some old paperwork and it reminded me that I wanted to make sure I wrote a review for this place it was awful!
I was actually seeing two years ago in 2013 while having a horrific migraine visiting Disneyland with my family. The nurse at one of the Disneyland hotels recommended I go to this place to get my migraine treated, boy was she wrong!
I sat in the ER for more than two hours with my teenage son the only available seat next to me was covered with barf that at one point had been wet and had dried all over the seat in the floor.
For someone with a migraine, lights and sound sensitivity are one of the key issues. I’ll never know why some people bring every family member with them when they go to an ER and then they sit there and talk real loud in the room not thinking of anybody around them and with very few seats available for the sick.
Thank God I just purchased a smart phone and was able to find the Anaheim urgent care that was less than a mile away well worth the taxi drive very clean very professional but this hospitals a dump!

I hope I never have to be admitted here (and I have no clue how this place is listed as top 100 hospital).
My friend’s wife was admitted for various reasons and so I decided to visit them, just finding the hospital was rough, the ICU is tucked away/​hidden amongst several other medical/​hospital buildings and the personnel wandering around were not much help/​or very friendly in guiding me to the right place.
The nurses are hit and miss and they don’t really inspire confidence, my friend’s wife machine that’s hooked up to her started beeping and these 3 nurses were sorta just huddled around it all confounded as to why it was beeping and then they decided to exchange it out for another machine which started beeping and they were baffled as to why that machine was beeping too — it was like watching an episode from the 3 Stooges dood… then some white dood ran in all panicky and showing some sense of urgency and told the nurses it’s beeping cause of x y z and they need to do this 1 2 3 asap… like I said, it doesn’t inspire confidence — and on a side note, another reason I despise unions (even nurses unions).
Anyway, the nurses are hit or miss — one lady in particular was pretty dismissive and abrupt but then the evening shift nurse with the short hair and tats was very attentive and kind. The food is pretty bad, the blankets look a bit dirty but overall as long as they get the job done is what matters.
I say the nurses are questionable, the doctors seem to be competent, the facilities are … not what I’m used to and the staff in general seem… eh. I give it a solid 2.5 stars.

My brother is a homeless person. He was brought to this hospital (by his friend), because he fell due to a stroke. They admitted him into their facility. Their social worker spend days calling anyone that would claim him. When they found out that his family did not have the means financially for pay for services, They patient dumped him. They called a cab, put him in it and sent him away. still in his hospital gown, still soiled (because four days earlier when he had the stroke, he soiled himself) no bath, no treatment. I called the social worker about what happened and she just talked over me and would not listen or try to explain what had happened. Horrible hospital. The social worker was more worried about CYA, than trying to help. She threatend me about slander, so I am not including her name here… God knows who she is. I’ll have to rest in that. Fountain Valley Hospital did take him and he is getting the basic care he needs…

To the ER staffs, please, define triage– and apply it.
The staffs in the emergency room are so so– I meant they’re not really doing their job right. I’ve worked in a clinical lab setting, and currently working in a pathology lab, and a certified medical assistant by profession, so I know how the medical/​health care industry and the staffs should work in a very appropriate manner.
The staffs in the (main) hospital, not all, but most especially to those night shifts– they are so loud, nonstop. Don’t they even realize that it’s a hospital and hello there are patient that are being confined, so silence should be observed at all times. The lobby however is very quiet.
I’ve been here so many times, for so many reasons. And that being said, I know exactly how this hospital works, their processes, etcetera etcetera.
It’s near my place, and it’s walks away from my family’s physician’s office– very convenient.
The parking is rather limited, but not so busy, well at least from my experience.
The hospital looks old, inside and out, but fairly clean and organized.

When my grandmother said she needed medical attention, we looked up providers by her insurance and identified AGH as a nearby hospital for care. On our way there, I looked up AGH on Unilocal and was disheartened to read the list of negative reviews. However, my grandma insisted on being seen somewhere close to home so we took her to the ER.
From admittance to discharge, the care that she received at AGH was excellent. As a clinical psychologist, I have spent a number of years externing and interning at hospitals and have a solid knowledge base of standards of care. Although the facilities themselves were somewhat small and less than new and shiny the personnel and tx were top class.
The staff were good listeners and asked pointed questions in order to gather information about my grandmother’s sxs. We flooded the lobby and her eventual room with concerned family members, and the staff was patient, light-​hearted, and understanding. They answered every question my family had, and their explanations were thorough and easily understood. They took my family’s thoughts about my grandmother’s conditions seriously and ordered appropriate tests to rule out a multitude of dx’s. They also took into account my grandmother’s wishes for her aftercare and made special phone calls to friends in different facilities to find her a bed at a site that could accommodate her needs (e.g. she speaks Korean only). They were prompt in answering the call button and made what is by nature the unpleasant experience of being ill as positive of an experience as possible.

Thank you for taking such excellent care of my grandmother and treating her like she was your own family. You made a frightened, ill woman feel safe and well cared for. You made a frightened, overly concerned family feel safe and that their loved one was in good hands. And somehow you did all of this with a woman who doesn’t speak any English!
We are so grateful for the experience that we had at AGH. I am pleased to report that my grandmother is stable and improving. We know that she got her footing because of you. We will always think of AGH with gratitude and would recommend it to anyone who might be ill or have a family member who needs care.

I hurt my ankle and went to this ER because several around my area were very busy. We checked in and waited. The nurse who took my vitals was very rude, and said they have no rooms so I needed to wait in the waiting room. I can deal with a rude nurse but after 90 minutes of waiting with only one other patient, a man came out with a wheelchair. He didn’t say anything, but my BF was there and said my name and he shook his head. I got in the wheelchair and almost hit my foot on a door 3 times!!! He then pulled me to X-​ray table which was about waist high and told me to jump up. With my ankle being broken, I asked for advice on how to do that, which he had no advice. I finally wrangled myself up there– I’m in very good shape but wondered about someone that was not. As soon as I got up he told me I must get back in the wheelchair because he had another X-​ray to do– he did not perform an xray on me. He brought me back to the waiting room, and said he would be back when he could. The nurse looked at him funny, threw her arms in the air and said, I guess he’ll be back when he can.” I’m usually someone that would say something at this point but I just wanted to get out of there. We waited for about 15 minutes, and after witnessing the only other patient in there walk out we decided to do the same.
I think the problem was when we asked anybody a question, they didn’t know, didn’t care because they didn’t feel it was their job.
Even with a lack of resources it is still possible to be courteous and make someone in pain feel comfortable.
I ended up waiting and going to my regular Dr., and as he was wrapping my foot up I was so happy because I didn’t trust this facility.
Also during our visit there was tons of staff around joking and laughing. We felt that there was a lot of people doing nothing.

The ER was super small lol and the Dr. was very laid back but I got fast service and the people were very kind to me– I got the meds I needed :)

When I arrived early morning at 7am there was this white male that appeared to be wearing what looked like a security room, I mentioned that I had an MRI appointment at 715a he told me ok and to have a seat. So I sit there waiting and waiting… looked around there was a tv and a small coffee table with magazines AND a horrid stench of old musky water… I tolerated it best I could and then the man I checked in with begins talking NASTY about some woman and what he did yatti yatti ya I was like WTF??!
As he’s doing so I look at the time and it’s already 715 I go to the counter and now there was a girl– a girl I played soccer with in high school I was happy to see her and said hi but explained my situation she told me that the MRI location was in the back so I jus had to drive back there so I did.
I get back there and it looked like a portable lol (see photos). I walked to the door which was closed and there was no one around so I just took a seat on the asphalt after 2 min a woman pops out and waves me in. She seemed to be in a ehh mood, she had me fill out paperwork explained how the procedure would go and boom I was lying down getting my scans.
After she was done she told me I was done and sent me away. Done. Bye…
Overall this place kinda gave me a strange feeling for a hospital the unknowledgeable man at the counter, bad waiting lobby stench, and lack of proper guidance/​assistance this place was no bueno. Seeing my old teammate/​classmate & having my knee scan were the only good. quality of service and lobby atmosphere/​MRI location instructions need work.

I would give this hopital and «D» on there report card. My mother was in there for a month. Nice nurses there but the way the run things… Fail! I will never bring anyone there!!!

I do the best I can in a facility that has extremely limited consulting coverage to provide courteous quality care and medical advice to the best of my ability. I try my best to not be the neighborhood drug dealer. If you have a problem that necessitates basic emergency medical services for legitimate medical needs I am here for you. If you feel you are in need of specialty services such as Obstetrics for acute delivery and/​or Ophthalmology you would be better served elsewhere.

PS– This facility has had significant problems but has shown much improvement and is re-​accredited.

I would love to give this facility a review on it’s quality, however, as a member of the healthcare community it would be regarded as libel.
As a clinical facility to LEARN, it is excellent.
