As someone who is rather young and actually knows about cars. This place is the epitome of the shady stereotypical auto shop that will try to rip you off. I was going to have an oil changed but I didn’t bother after speaking to the guys at the front for a mere 5 minutes. I think the other Unilocal reviews on here will justify my 1 star rating. This place is incredibly shady and will try to scam you. It’s a shame and waste of time, go find another honest place to get your oil changed.

Never ever come here to do the smog test! If your car failed the first time, they will NOT do it again for free for you unless you let them fix your car. Ridiculous policy. My car didn’t pass, and they gave me a price of 1200 dollars (unbelievable!) to buy new expensive parts (without the labor cost!). I took my car to another mechanic and fixing it cost me only around $ 200 total. I would have spent extra $ 1000 if I had trusted them. Inspite of the huge price they gave me, they didn’t guarantee that I would pass it after replacing the parts.
There are so many places other than this where you can get a seond or third test for free and without absurd policy!
Worse yet, they are not friendly whatsoever. They are only digging for your money; they don’t care about their customers.
I suggest you stay away from this place. If I could give it a MINUS 100 star, I would.
Just today my car passed the smog test!

I’ve gone to this shop a few times. They seemed to be okay at first. Two years ago they ran the smog test on my 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood, it failed and they said a PVC hose and vacuum hose needed repair. I asked how much, they said 30.00. I said do it, car was fixed and it passed. Two days ago I took it to them again as they had the best price with their coupon. This time it failed.
I’ve only put 2400 miles on the car since the last smog two years ago. It would actually only be about 1800 but I lent it to my son for about 10 days and he put about 650 miles. This time they said they would have to run a diagnostic test to see what was wrong. I told them I will think about it, paid the smog fee and left. My neighbor said don’t deal with them and he said he’ll take me to his guy a few miles away. I’m going tomorrow to see if Purrfect was trying to rip me off which I suspect they are. I’ll be back to report what i find out. My car failed the NOx portion of the test. I compared the reading to the test two years ago and they were really high. I don’t drive that car much. At the most I drive a few miles every other month.
My vehicle runs excellent and I don’t have any smoke coming out of the exhaust nor does it overheat. I suspect it will pass and when it does, I going back to Purrfect to get my money back and then I’m reporting the shop to BAR of California. That’s the Bureau of Automotive Repair.

First I’ll state this, I’m an ASE MASTER TECH. Been in the industry 20years.
I took my wife’s car here for a smog check. Funny it didn’t pass due to a sensor disconnected. Coolant temp sensor. Funny gauge worked when I brought it in, and the fan did as well.
Now while on the smog dyno, they cut the upper radiator hose as it magically had a 1″ razor blade size cut in it. Hmm.
They offered to fix it for 300.00. I told them I’d fix it. I paid for the smog, they didn’t want to give me the keys and said it was there right to keep the car as it’s unsafe to drive. At this point I got angry and told them that I was a ASE master tech and will call the bar. I grabbed the keys and left.
This place is shady, the shop smelled of weed. Customer service is horrible. Honestly shops like this give automotive shops a bad name.
This place is pathetic. I’d give it 0 stars if I could.

This place will rip you off and make you think your getting a deal. I only came here because I really needed my power steering fixed (my car was almost unusable without power steering), and had class the next day. They charged me $ 250 to repair a hose. Not even get a new one. Like I said I was desperate and was unable to drive to another shop, but DO NOT COME HERE.

If I could give a neg star I would. Their mechanic and managers don’t know crap. They break stuff then give you a discount to fix it. Today their Marketing Consultant asked how the service was and my boyfriend told him everything. Then Sam (the big guy) lost his cool. We will NOT be going back.

Came to get a smog test on my car and the guy at the front desk informed us that his crew was on their lunch break. Totally understandable– we went to lunch ourselves and came back when he told us too.
After we came back– we waited another 2 hours and then man at the front desk could not give us an estimated time.
He also charged us more then the price on the coupon we brought.
Very unprofessional and rude. Definitely don’t go here. It’s a waste of time.

Honestly. this place is the worst… DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF!!!
Here is my story.
I needed to get a smog done. so the closest place I could find was purrfert auto. I went in on 6÷20÷15 @3:23pm.and first I had to acknowledge them by saying hi! The Manager of Operations ANDY said yes can I help you. I advised him that I needed to get my smog done. he asked me «will it will pass».I stated I’m not sure, but it should.(my car is a 2008 honda civic good condition) he said okay we will run the test. before leaving he did tell me that my front brakes where bad and I did tell him to go on and replace them. so he said okay and he said it’s gonna be a while. so I stayed till about 5:30 pm he charged me $ 200 flat. and he also stated the smog did not pass but to not worry he was gonna find out the issue and it will be the flat price of $ 200.I said okay awsome! So I ran my car for a few days. took it back as he asked. he told me again. it did not pass it was gonna be the o2 sensors. or the converter. so just to replace my o2 sensor.(one) was going to be $ 495​.my assumption is when they run the test they tell you exactly what’s wrong with it… I told him that was a little rare to take in consideration my car only has 90,000 miles didn’t sound right to me. so I picked up my car. took it to sun tech auto repair! THESES PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY AND VERY HELPFUL. i asked of they can run my car and tell me whats the problem. completed a second smog. and what do you know it PASSED!!! NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR!!! GOES TO SHOW THERE IS STILL GENUINE PEOPLE OUT THERE. AND OF COURSE PEOPLE THAT WANNA FOOL YOU OUT OF MONEY!
PLEASE DO YOUR SELF THE FAVOR AND GO TO SUN TECH AUTO REPAIR IN ANAHEIM!!!

please dont come here they are such a SCCCCAAAMMMMMM!!! i normally read the reviews but this time i decided ehh why not im in a rush
so anyways i needed s smog check done and i saw they had a coupon for like 24 dollars so i thought that was great since i was short on money (ou get what you pay for) so i went and well my car failed smog and me not knowing anything about cars i was confused he explained to me that he thought it was cause of the timming belt. he said to fix it would be 400 dollars he was pressuring me to do it there but i told him maybe id come back next week when i had money .
so i went online and asked around to see how much others would ask and they all told me that the timming belt had nothing to do with smog and that just looking at the car they couldnt check if it was the timing belt they had to take something of the engine off i had several people tell me this and this raised my concerns i checked online and indeed it didnt have to do with the smog check .
and then it hit me the guy had said that he thought it was the timming belt .so if he wasnt sure yet he was already charging me for service that he wasnt even sure it needed .
anyways i had to waste another 50 dollars to go else where because i saw they were scamming me (i went to a smog place on cerritos and dale) and the car failed smog but it was actually due to something so simple that only costed me 20 dollars to fix point is after this 20 dollar repair my car passed smog and i almost ended up wasting 400 dollars on something i didnt need
point is dont go here unless you want to get scammed !!! and you got money to waste
(also the guy were i took the car for the second smog check told me that he has heard about this place and how many people have had the same problem with them and have been scammed)

Absolutely terrible customer service. These people are rude and really bad to work with. I brought my car in to have a smog test. Guy tells me we will do it right away. More than 2 hours later I am still sitting here. Now he tells me that the computer has a OBDII fail for the fuel system. I tell him that I had a gas cap that was not on but it has been corrected. He tells me he can’t fix it can’t finish smog and that I have to go get it fixed somewhere else. Great, 2.5 hrs later and my car still is not smogged. I go buy a $ 40 OBDII I I tester and reset the light. BTW, I am not a mechanic. Done light fixed. I take it back to this really rude shop and Andy, the manager tells me that I will have to wait for hours again to have it tested and finished. I already paid him. UGHHHHH
If you want good customer service and competent mechanics do not bring your vehicle here. I have never had such bad service at an auto place.

Every time I see the manager’s face (Sam I think) I just want to slap him. He looks and acts like such a POS. Customer service and hygiene are non existent in his world. Its hard to describe why I find him so despicable but spend 2 minutes there and you will see.
I went there a few times to try to save a few bucks but no more. The guys at pep boys in the same plaza have been 100x better.

I needed a quick smog done on my car and well these guys were handy quick and easy.
I have never been an advocate of purrfect auto as many try and cheat their customers into stuff that they dont need. At least here they didnt try any shenanigans with me and that is a good thing. I have no idea how they would treat anyone else.
However I called ahead and got set up for a smog. I was in and out in under 30 minutes and thus didnt have any issues with work for having run over here and taken care of the smog on my lunch break.
All of the documents that I needed to have submitted to the state went through electronically and they took my AmEx card so I was happy with the backend of things as well.
The waiting area is in the shade but it is not cooled at all, its basically an empty bay with a tv playing something ridiculously bad like divorce court or jerry springer… *shrugs* but I suggest you use coupons if you go here. They were about the cheapest I was able to find in a 5 minute internet search as well.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Brought my car in for smog and without even putting it on the machine he informed me that I needed 400 to 700 dollars in repairs for it to pass smog. Thankfully I left to get another shop to smog it a few weeks later and it passed with flying colors, no issues and it only cost $ 40 not $ 700. I drove back there to give a piece of my mind and to warn a few customers who were awaiting service and the man behind the counter really didnt have much to say in his defense. He wanted to look at the car again. That wasnt gonna happen. That shops business practices are nothing short of criminal and they dont deserve the right to do business in my eyes.

THIS PLACE IS A SCAM, RUN AWAY!!! Took my car to get a smog here and I should have known better. They put my car on the machine, didn’t even run it and some ahole turns to me and says that my engine is blown, my car had been crashed several times and that my car didn’t pass smog the previous year and I needed to take it to the Infiniti dealer to get a special type of smog or that they could repair the blown engine for me. That’s funny, my car didn’t need a smog the previous year, my car had never been in any accidents and my engine was in perfect condition. Took it to Suntech Auto service down the street and it passed with absolutely no issues. Don’t waste your time or money.

Awful customer service… unfriendly…cold people… un welcoming… i dont care if you are right next to my house… i will drive and go out of my way for someone more welcoming… dont go here…

Brought my truck here for coolant service. The gentleman in the counter was rude. You show up and they ignore you. His lead technician is not upfront with you and sometimes clueless. Anyway, come to find out they put the wrong coolant in my vehicle. Took it to another shop to undo the mess up. Not coming back here again.

Business owner, or manager, has excellent business integrity!
Getting my car (’95 Legend) smog certified turned out to be quite an undergoing this year. I went to a different smog place, one a bit closer to my home. My car flunked the test so a «Diagnostic» was done which revealed one, or more, parts that would need to be repaired or replaced. The work would be done, one thing at a time and then the car re-​tested to see if it would then pass. If I were to have the necessary work done at this shop, the cost of the Diagnostic ($ 50) would be deducted from the work being done. The first thing to be done, an ER Tube, would cost $ 175 and would take 2 – 3 hours. Close to closing, I brought the car back the next day, Sat., when the shop opened.
The 2 – 3 hours time estimate ended and the car wan’t close to being ready. The mechanic showed me the ER Tube and that it had to be replaced. Much of my car’s innards were out of the car and placed on the concrete. The job of getting to and replacing this part had turned out to be much more of an ordeal than the shop had anticipated. The manager/​owner and mechanic ended up staying nearly two hours after closing, continuing to work on my car. It was put back together but they weren’t happy with the cars ‘timing’ and it still needed the oil change I’d requested and then the smog re-​test. The owner/​manager did not want to rush the work and have it come out poorly. The owner asked if he could keep the car tip their next business day, offering me the use of his personal car until I could return after work Monday and pick up my car.
When I returned monday afternoon, the car was finished. This not being my usual mechanic, I was more than a bit skeptical about how she might be running — after having seen her innards all over the tarmac on Sat. [a shocker]. She ran just as well. AND it passed the smog with the part replacement they did. The owner apologized for the length of time it took to make the repair. The shop ended up putting at least 2 ½ times the labor into my car instead of the price I was quoted but the owner stood by his original quote.
I am shocked to see so many angry reviews for this company; my cars smog repair did take much longer than anticipated but I was treated very well, the owner went out of his way to accommodate my needs with the use of his personal car and he stood by his original quote, even having put far more time and labor into the work. I am more than satisfied with this business.

I came here for my smog check and I failed so I got the parts repaired that would help me pass my smog check. I came back two weeks later and the refused to do the FREE second smog check! SUPPOSABLY my car was not ready for it because I would fail again. I came again another two weeks later and He REFUSED to check it because he did not have time. They close at 6PM and I was there are 4:30PM. Not to mention I had a nail in my tire that they removed and let me drive away to get a flat tire. I have a warrenty elsewhere and they were probably trying to get me to get my tire replaced there! I’m reporting this place to the Bureau of automotive repair.

Just wanted to share that I called the number as instructed & spoke with their reputation management rep and he said he wanted to get to the bottom of the «miscommunication» and said he would get back to me. It’s been over 2 weeks and he still hasn’t called back. So, although the response by the business made me feel slightly optimistic that they would attempt to salvage the situation, they never even called me back, so my previous review must stand.

This place is an ABSOLUTE JOKE!!! Took my car to get smogged and everything from the electronic readers says it PASSED, yet they failed me because I was missing a plastic timing belt cover!!! PLASTIC.
Do not waste your time, money or effort going to this place, they are incompetent of conducting any form of service or business properly!!!
