Storage West Self Storage

Clean. Easy to get to. Clean. Organized. Clean. Great staff. Clean. Friendly, helpful front office. Clean. Reasonable rates. Clean. Did I mention clean? I’ve seen so many places that look like homeless encampments, this one is spotless.

Housing in southern california is very expensive, & for the middle class, the good stuff gets taken quick. you are left with an apartment that doesn’t have a garage or really, not much room for your extra things. are ya gonna sell it, or pay extra each month to store it?
I never saw myself getting a storage shed — for me, it’s expensive (in wyoming you can get a 20×30 for $ 60 a month, first floor, with access from the outside, open ²⁴⁄₇). The reason why I ended up getting a storage shed isn’t for me, but my mom is planning on moving out here soon, & for now she is storing her things until she gets here.
The unit we ended up getting was the 10×10 on the first floor. Unfortunately there is not access from the outside, so that is the reason I am rating this place 4 stars.
The units on the first floor are considerably COOLER than the units on the 2^nd floor. The 2^nd floor is obviously a bit cheaper, because of the temp & the hassle of using the freight elevator.
This place rocks because they also include a moving truck which can be used with a refundable $ 100 deposit, driven under 100 miles. Saweeet!

Justin initially greeted us, showed us the facility, gave us a run down of prices and tried to get us their truck to move which if free of charge but it was already booked for our moving day. Three month special when we signed our rental, good facility with great customer service.

We came here in 2008 thinking we were going to be here for a year or two. Okay so today marked the end of a week long journey to clear our storage. Our experience with Sandy and Gary was amazing. They are always so nice and helpful. Super knowledgeable and experienced too.
Even when I was late at times, they gave a nice courtesy call. This place is safe, The office is clean. The place is clean. It doesn’t smell too much. There are no rats, or roaches. The elevator things are sturdy. It was well lit. My only thing is I wish they had lighting inside the storage unit (mine was big to fit all of mine and my in-law’s, and my brother in law’s (lost house) stuff. But that could be fixed with putting in a mechanic hanging light so whatevs.
Their whole system is pretty much well organized, and makes it easier for one to store, pay, order, purchase, and check out. Totally smooth transition each time. It’s really up to you to move your things in or out of storage if you’re willing. They make things easy. I got pretty emotional/​sentimental too as we left too. 7 years passed by like nothing. Thank you, Gary and Sandy!
I recommend this place because it’s indoors, well organized, well lit, good hours, nice/​knowledgeable/​experienced/​friendly staff, reasonable pricing. OH!!! and you can pay online too!

The only bright spot in an otherwise terrible day spent moving was provided by the wonderful and accommodating staff here. The free truck was great and such a life saver, plus the elevators saved our backs. Not only was the staff helpful and friendly, but they even interrupted their lunch to take care of us.
We would recommend this location to anyone looking for storage. Thank you Storage West!

I used this storage facility in 2009 – 2011 and was pleased with this facility. I thought the customer service was Great! The nicest couple lived on the property and were so very friendly (their names escape me at the moment, I’ll update if I remember). I always felt so welcomed and the staff went out of their way to extend themselves. I had a difficult time moving in due to my movers being flaky. The managers went out of their way to accomodate me to make the move in as seemless as possible. With the stress of moving, it was nice to have understanding people to ease the process. The facility itself is well maintained and spacious. I must agree with the other reviewer that the lighting is not great inside the actual units but is good in the common areas. It’s hard to organize your unit with low lighting so its best to pick a unit right near a light source. The gate hours were a little limiting for me since you have to be out by 7 PM or else you get locked in. Since I get out of work at 7:30 PM it was difficult to get to my unit regularly. Otherwise, it’s a nice facility, in a secure area, easy freeway access, with great customer service. I would use this facility again in the future.

I don’t really know what happened, but two months ago, I had to get a storage space. I had my brother do a quick web search and call around to a few places to get me a gist of prices. I ended up choosing Storage West because (a) it was in close proximity to my BF’s new house (where I planned to eventually move a bunch of these items), (b) $ 100 a month didn’t sound too bad, and © they offered free moving services (saving me a trip to a U-​Haul).
No major complaints, except… if you want to use the moving truck, make sure you let them know early. I think they only have one truck, and you are not allowed to drive it. The driver of the truck only makes two runs a day, one morning and one late afternoon. Obviously, weekends are busiest, so book early if you want to take advantage of this service.
It seems an elderly couple mans the front desk, and they’re sweet as can be. However, they aren’t exactly QUICK to jump up and help you, if you know what I mean. Don’t look for speed and efficiency — instead, enjoy their leisurely pace.
Their storage buildings are very clean and well maintained, with elevators in each building fully equipped with flatbed dollies for customer use. It sure makes carting things around easier!
My only two gripes are (a) the place closes at 7pm, which makes late-​night rummaging completely impossible, and (b) their storage area is SERIOUSLY small and unlighted. Why aren’t there lights inside my storage unit? It’s nearly impossible to see! For $ 100 a month, I’d think I’d be given some LIGHT to rummage in.
All in all, typical self storage yard with typical (if not slightly inflated) prices. Just make sure, before you sign your contract, that your unit is WELL LIT. It doesn’t seem all that important at first, but eventually, it gets to be annoying.
