Unfortunately we came here after we went to game stop. Got way better service and these guys really know their stuff! Prices on used games were fair. Will def be coming back here for all our needs. Thanx guys

Their prices are so much more expensive than what you can buy online, which sucks, but you have the trade-​off of not having to wait a few days to get a game shipped. I came here to buy a lot of NES and SNES games for my retron 5, and while they had a really large selection, a lot of games were more expensive then what they would be to buy online. With that though, you have the trade off of knowing that when you buy from Video Game Geeks, their games are playtested and cleaned to ensure that they work. Is it worth it? If you really don’t want to wait for shipping.
The owner is also a really nice person, and he was nice to talk to and recommended some titles to check out. He was a really knowledgeable guy. I’ve also bought used controllers for NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis here, and they have all worked without issues. So, not only is this place good for old school games, but they also carry the peripherals. They also have games for newer systems as well as the newer consoles for sale. This place really is a one stop shop, but with how the games or organized in the glass gases, it’s kind of hard to find the games that you’re looking for.

Came in looking for high end titles (chrono trigger, mega mans, etc) found none. This place has the common retro titles, nothing to special. A lot of them are high Amazon/​eBay prices and they are upfront when saying «we won’t work with you on price’ we discount it enough already» although they do offer 10% off from Unilocal the prices are still pretty high.
After spending around $ 70 on some used titles I asked if they could throw in 5 .99cent games from their «trash» section for a $ 5bill (separate transaction). I was told no way and that they had to tax me otherwise they would be audited and they would be shut down. I was then given an unwanted business lesson by the older guy in back, thanks for nothing. As a business owner myself I completely understand taxes and the way they work. On used items, especially for only .41cents I would like to think my local store would have taken care of me.
As a side note: $ 5.00 plus tax minus the 10% =$ 4.84 so really this business refused my better offer for their trash but instead gave me an earful of grief.
Won’t be returning here and will continue to travel to other game stores where the customers are treated right.

It’s a nice little store and very welcoming. I love the customer service here he was very informative and he doesn’t try to rip you off. I came looking for some ps4 games and he lowered the price for us and we didn’t even know. I love the throwback design they have. I will definitely be coming back here. Recommend this place to anyone looking for old school consults and replacement parts for them.

This is easily the best video game store in the area and it’s one of the only places that still sells older games. I managed to find some gems here and the prices that I paid for them seemed appropriate as well. The guys that work here are really knowledgeable and helpful, they really know their stuff and are always willing to help you out if you need anything. Another great thing about this place is that they receive all the newest releases a few days before they go on retail, so if you pre-​order you can get your copies early. Be sure to drop by here if you’re in the area, you won’t regret it.

Went in the store today and was greeted by the gentlemen working. He asked if I was looking for anything particular and was very knowledgeable about the systems. I ended up buying my first Sega DreamCast and two games. Overall the experience was great. I used to visit the store when they used to be in the Garden Grove location.

A video game store is only as good as the sum of its parts. While everything about this store seems like it should be perfect, inside is where we start to see where the store crumbles. It’s got the games, it’s got the consoles, but it doesn’t have the soul.
First off, there’s plenty of video games, but other than the video games from the last decade, everything else is behind glass. With the hundreds of games they have, you have to squeak you eyes to see all the titles. It becomes near impossible when you get to Jaleco.
Second off, I don’t think their collection and asking prices are fair. Now, it’s not all sports games, but considering how many Sonic 2s and Super Mario/​Duck Hunts they have, I think shelf space can be opened up.
Now, I’m not saying they have to be cheap to be a good video game store, and it’s also not everyday you run into a retro video game store, but there has to be compelling reasons to push you into the store.
Finally, the atmosphere is just terrible. Everything is bland and boring, and outside of the TV they have that shows game trailers, nothing fee like a video game store.
At the end of the day, they are a video game store and worth checking out, but once I went through everything, I picked up everything I wanted. Why do I need to go back a second time? My answer is I don’t. That may be different for other people, but this is coming from someone who loves video games.

I only visited this store once, so I give it a 4 star pending further visits. Their selection is nice and their staff seem quite friendly. The best part about this place (other than their retro game selection) is that they don’t talk to you with an attitude or give you one word answers like that Games 4 Less shop in Fullerton. The prices here are reasonable, but I was satisfied with my purchase as I picked up a childhood gem for just 3.99 $. Walking into this shop was like stepping into a time portal that lead me back to my youth. NES & SNES was everywhere. I certainly plan on visiting again and if my visits are similar to my first, that 4 star will surely become a 5 star. Keep up the fantastic quality of service. –Sincerely, a happy customer

Owner is super friendly. They can give game recommendations and also tell video game stories. Store got a lot of game selections and systems. They also sell 3^rd party peripherals.

Really good selection, really nice owner, fantastic prices. They have a lot of the older systems and their games. He even helped me inspect a PS3 I bought on CL to let me know if it was a good deal or not. Highly recommend.

Walked in, found a few awesome Sega Dreamcast title I wanted in my collection.

Stopped by here with the husband after a disappointing stop at Game Geek in Garden Grove (wrote a review on them, no they are not affiliated with this store). The place has an array of different games, for pretty much all consoles and handhelds. Picked up an NES game I was looking for for awhile now. so happy and the price was awesome. Game was clean and in great condition. Picked up two more games. Staff was friendly and tested all the games we picked up to make sure they worked. Will definitely be back!

Pretty cool place to get all the classic games you want. Even for current gen games. They have it all and they are extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place!

This is my one stop shop for all my video games and console purchases. The owner is a great guy who answers all your questions and gives you straight answers. I dropped off my ps3 to have it repaired and he was able to tell me the time in which it would be done and a rough price estimate. He answered all my questions and even helped us with questions we had about a certain game for my son. The prices are great to. Stop going to Game Stop and start coming here!

I love this store, it is well organized and you never know what «hidden gem» they will have in stock.
The staff are very knowledgeable about their retro games as well as the new releases. They know more than just Call of Duty and are always willing to talk about games, or help you make a decision if you are on the fence about a particular title. They give honest feedback about the titles they have played which is always a plus.
They also have the most fair prices out of any store on their new and used games, going two dollars cheaper on new releases. My favorite part is that I am never pressured to pre-​order any title when making a purchase.
I highly recommend Video Game Geeks, where it is ok to let my inner «Geek» out.

«I think you need to do some research. We are $ 2.00 cheaper on new releases, we are lower on used games, we give more on buy-​backs. The system prices vary on the used 360’s. The 360’s that have the AV/​Componet out is a bit more and the newer 4GB that does not have AV out are cheaper. If you’d like to come in and discuss my business model, I will be glad to educate you. We’ve been in business for 12 years, and not by over pricing product. Always the clueless!»
I was in the store today, and was not greeted by the young employee who was talking to his friends at the front of the store. I wasn’t even sure if any of them worked there at first. Turns out, one of them did when I was finally greeted after approaching the register. Whatever, I was done browsing the selection of overpriced games.
I presented a copy of «The Evil Within» for the Xbox One to test the theory of «more on buy-​backs.» The young guy takes the copy to backroom and returns telling me $ 30.00 trade credit. He lays the game on the counter behind him like it’s a done deal. I had to ask for my game back and I left.
I drove to GameStop and received $ 43.00 for «The Evil Within»
So much for «more on buy-​backs». –Debunked
Anyone that collects games, knows that sports games are worth a small fraction of what they once were.
Case in point; They are selling a used copy of NHL 2003 (The one with Jerome Iginla on the cover) for the Playstation 2 for $ 10.00 which you can find as low as 99 cents online (ebay).
Gamestop sells NHL 2003 for the Xbox and Gamecube for 99 cents.
So much for, «we are lower on used games». –Debunked

Here is proof that their Used Xbox 360 4GB for $ 179.00 is overpriced… whatever version you claim it is, it still doesn’t make it a $ 50.00 difference.
As far as being «clueless» sir, I have more in my collection than you have in your entire store. I amassed such a collection by doing my research, and knowing what the hell I’m talking about. Most everything in your store is ridiculously overpriced. Last year you were selling a Gears of War 3 Xbox 360 Bundle for $ 500.00 which is STILL sold for the $ 400 original NEW price. How is that not over pricing product?
Oh, and as far as $ 2.00 cheaper on new releases, I believe that. I also believe that you sell the new games before the official release date. That’s frowned upon in the industry, is that true or not?
Should I do more research sir?

Really great store the owner was really nice and I was able to walk away with two great games for a great price! So many games from my childhood that I had a small tear in my eye from the wonderful memories I had with those games. So cool will be back soon to get more games and a older system soon.

Great place to grab old and new games. Seriously its nice to see a place like this in business that is not afraid to dabble in the old school era of gaming. I came in here and was pretty impressed with some of the old systems they had and the variety of old games. From Master System to Neo Geo they have it all.
Prices here are going to be what the going rate for the game/​system will be. You may find a game or two that you are looking for at a good price. The workers here are great to chat games with and are very helpful. I came in and grabbed a couple of PS1 games for a price I was happy with. I will definitely come back to this place.

Me and My Girlfriend headed over there because we had heard such great things about this place. Our SNES was on the fritz and we thought it might be the game cartridge so we took the SNES for them to check out and we fully prepared to pay for the system to be fixed or the cartridges replaced.
When we walked in, we were completely ignored. There were two other men in the store, but we weren’t greeted with a hello, or I’ll be with you in a moment. And even when one of them was done with their guest, he merely just left the store. The first words that were spoken to us were 10 minutes after we had entered the store, and it was «What do you want?» Excuse me? I was pissed, so my girlfriend did most of the talking. The guy wouldn’t look at our system, and all he said for us to do was to take a toothbrush with Windex and scrub the pins until they’re clean.
**DO NOT DO THAT AT ALL YOU WILL FUCK UP YOUR SYSTEM**
We went home and scrubbed it, then wiped away some of the excess with a q-​tip, and let it sit for twenty minutes to make sure it was fully dry. When we put in a game, the sound was AWEFUL and ear wrenching! We immediately shut it off and decided to go to Frank & Sons ((it was a Wednesday after all)). The guys there told us we may have fucked up our system and if we didn’t believe them to call Nintendo ((which we did, they said to never use any liquids of any kind unless your a professional)). The guys at Frank & Sons fixed our SNES for $ 10… Needless to say we are NEVER returning to this store.

Video Game Geeks is very reminiscent of a store I used to frequent called GameLand and for that I give them major credit. These small video game stores are exactly what I look for as opposed to the larger chain stores (ala Gamestop). This small store is located at Ball and Brookhurst near the Starbucks and Post Office.
What I like about this store is the fact that it is not defined by simply the newest and greatest systems and games available. This store sells everything from Intellivision, NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, GameBoy all the way up to the current generation of consoles and games. They buy/​sell games and offer a much better deal than Gamestop. You can trade in or sell games for store credit or cash (10% less than credit) and the staff is quite friendly. This is exactly the type of place I would like to see people support and keep in business as they offer a nice compliment to the major conglomerates.
