Wonderground Art Gallery – Downtown Disney

This store is amazing I always enjoy just coming in and looking at all of the work! I saw this girl working on a sketch and saw her name tag «aleah» her piece was amazing! If you stop in request for her you will not be disappointed. I will probably be going back for her to draw me something!

This is a review for an event that occurred on 11÷13÷15.
I came to Wonderground with the intentions of looking for an awesome original piece of art to add to my collection. I looked through the art pieces on the wall and finally found the perfect piece. Unfortunately it was a giclee. I went to the front to ask about the original hoping that it was available at a different location. The conversation went like this:
Me: Hi. I would like to ask about an original.
Rep: ‘YOU’ want to buy an original?
Me: Um… Yeah. I would at least like to know the price.
Rep: Well, which one?
Me: The Alice one around the corner.
Rep: Isn’t that one sold?
Me: Um… Well its a giclee but I know sometimes the originals can be at a different location and I can still purchase it.
Rep: No. If there was an original available we would have it.
She totally dismissed my interest. At the very least she could have looked it up especially after insinuating that I couldn’t purchase an original piece of artwork. I have had wonderful experiences at other Disney art galleries, even great ones at this location but it was pretty obvious this employee had no interest in helping me. I was very disappointed. If a customer expresses interest in spending thousands of dollars, perhaps the employee should assist the customer in a polite, non-​judgmental way.

Cool Experience
Always wanted a Disney sketch, got me a Steamboat Willy AND got to watch the artist do the work. Pretty happy right now.

Hands down, this is a place you must hit up whenever you’re in Downtown Disney! There’s no doubt that you’ll find beautifully, vivid art in the forms of coffee mugs, magnets, apparel, pins, canvas /​wall art, and so on. It’s always the last stop before departing Anaheim… brings tears to my eyes. First and favorite thing I do is check out their post cards located near the front of the store — smaller and cheaper versions of the canvas art. You honestly need to swing by if you haven’t already done so and experience it.

Beautiful art gallery. I always try to stop by if I’m not in a rush in DTD. The art changes from time to time so it’s nice to see new stuff. They also sell smaller and more affordable items that also feature the art.

Located in Downtown Disney District, this place offers more adult, classy Disney artwork for reasonable prices.
I fell in love with the creepy-​eyed Disney princesses artwork! I wanted to buy the big portraits, but settled for the postcard size ones for $ 4.95. I can frame these easily and I didn’t have to lug around a huge canvas portrait.
Besides big canvas portraits, they have magnets, clothing and cups of different artists’ perceptions of the Disney characters. Everything was really cute!
This is one store I could have just thrown down money to make my «Disney dream house» complete. I highly recommend just to see these artists’ work.

Desperately need a trip back to Cali, just to stop by here. Everything I love about Disney & some of the most talented artists, you can’t go wrong.

Located in Downtown Disney, this art store/​gallery consists of art portraying Disney characters and Disneyland done in non-​traditional styles.
The art changes periodically and, while it is all for sale and would look great on the walls of any Disneyphile’s domicile, this is a fun place just to look around.
On my visit there was art done by the artist Shag who creates in a hipster-​retro 50s style. There was also art of characters in Asian styles and goth «big eye» style (sorry, I don’t recall the artists’ names). Some of the art has a darker edge to it and some maintain the fun & magical aura of Disney. The many artists represented give the Disney characters and Disneyland a unique interpretation. Traditionalists may not like it but I think even they would still find it interesting.

I’m not a huge fan of art, but this store caught my attention when I saw some Star Wars art that I thought was amazing! I’ve been to Downtown Disney a couple of times and I’ve never noticed this store until now.
I walked in and saw an artist working on a piece in the middle of it. I thought it was pretty cool because it added some sense of originality into the store by validating its authenticity. I actually enjoyed looking at the pieces here than the art galleries I’ve been to!
The employees here were really nice also!
If you love Disney and if you love art, this is the perfect place to purchase some pieces! I bought one for my friend and I’m excited to give it. It was a reasonable price for the quality of it so don’t expect anything less!

I always buy art here and they always have new pieces. Great artists occasionally have art signings. Definitely check this place out when you are in downtown disney.

Wonderground? Don’t you mean Wonderland? Do you have to fall down the rabbit’s hole, and find a Drink Me! Potion to get here? No! But it is a little like taking that plunge Alice did, and stepping into a completely different world of Disney. As a long time AP, I still find an IMMENSE amount of joy and happiness when I come to visit the Mouse. And Wonderground provides the chance to do just that. It is a beautiful collection of all kinds of Disney art work. Prices are up there, duh it’s Disney, but the pieces are beautiful and unique to this location.
They have everything from canvas prints, matted photos with frames and without, t-​shirts, coffee cups, ornaments, keychains and wine stoppers that carry images of some prints if the artist so chooses to have it printed that way. Additionally, there is usually an artist right when you come in, vigorously sketching out his or her next piece or a guests custom piece. You can have a sketch done for I believe $ 15-​$ 45, depending on the amount of colors (more than one or two and it starts to cosy a little more) as well as when you opt for more than one character, it’s an additional fee. But most people are willing to pay. They do accept annual pass discounts, so that’s cool, especially since some of the pieces are pretty pricey! This isn’t your typical Disney artwork either. Some of it is darker, some of it is just flat out jaw dropping beautiful. Over the holiday season I picked up two very beautiful coffee cups (Alice and Belle) for my mother and myself. The artwork is gorgeous. The design is darker and the girls just look amazing, with large glossy black eyes. It’s trippy, but oh so pretty.
The cast members that work here have always been super sweet and friendly (^_​^) not just because they have to be, but Wonderground is a pretty cool place, and they all seem to really enjoy their jobs. The layout is airy and spacious, with solid white walls to play up the colors splashed across each image. I could stay and wonder around here for a good hour or more. I find a new piece almost every time I come in, though I don’t know where I would put some of them.
I definitely suggest peeking into Wonderground. I have found many a wondrous gifts here, as well as things for myself. I enjoy spotting new artworks and new artists and I love that it is atypical Disney designs!

Freaking yeah!!! This place is the dopest when it comes to hip Disney art. No other way to put it. You’ll walk in here not knowing that you are going to walk out with something. It may be a postcard to a piece of art? I look forward to visiting this place every time I go to Disneyland. Check it out if you haven’t.

I LOVE this store. Will never fail to stop by whenever I’m at Disneyland or in Downtown Disney. Sometimes I’ll come here just for this store.
Pros: Amazing art! On contrary to what most people think. A lot of the original art sold here is pretty cheap. Cheap as in when compared to other pieces of Disney original art that can go up $ 10k+. Not only do they sell original art from well known artists, but the artists come down here occasionally to visit and to do signings/​meet their fans and what not. A big variety of prints and cards and lots to look at. The great part is that the art that they show changes pretty often. Artists paint new things. They get presented fairly quickly and when things get sold. the empty spot is quickly replaced by something else. The people that work there are nice and well informed on the pieces of art there. Prices overall aren’t bad even including the little tourist stuff and the prints as well.
Cons: Not really a con, but it’s art. expect to pay a premium to get what you want. On certain days it can get pretty crowded. especially on weekends and at night. They have original art showcases that usually happen on Fridays and Saturdays. Those are the days where it gets really crowded and if you’re looking for something in particular or a new piece of original art gets showcased. you’ll have to be quick to buy it before someone else snatches it up.
Bottom line: If you’re from the area or if you’re not. This is definitely a MUST visit. Unless you’re not into this type of art. then do what you will lol.

This is a must for any disney fan looking to decorate their house. They have original art as well as prints. On average the large prints go for about 40 $ each. Considering they are already mounted and the art is gorgeous, it’s worth it. They regularly rotate out the art so if you see something grab it while you can. I couldn’t find them selling these anywhere else. If you wanna save some cash buy the prints in postcard form. They fit perfect in a picture frame. Plus it’s a 5 $ souvenir

It took us forever to go check out Wonderground — every time we went to Downtown Disney, we always passed it (as we didn’t think it was that important to check it out, despite my brother telling us otherwise). After our first visit, we realized one thing — he was right.
The Wonderground art gallery is different than more than a few art galleries that I’ve visited in that you can take pics of the displays, there’s an artist that’s in residence that was working on some pieces as people walked by, and that some of the pieces are available as affordable prints, postcards, buttons, magnets… in other words, you can actually find something affordable here! (And yes, they offer annual passholder discounts, except on the original pieces.)
And the pieces… I’m impressed at the detail and originality that I’ve seen the artists utilize with the Disney characters; for example, hipster Mickey and Minnie, Mickey on Tron light cycle, and even Mickey on a Star Wars landspeeder. They even had some sweet pieces featuring the Rocketeer — now how cool is that?
Definitely worth stopping by in Downtown Disney… especially as they’ll occasionally have artists visiting for signings. Case in point, in a couple of weeks, comic book superstar J. Scott Campbell will be making an appearance, which I’ll be attending!

I visit every few months or so to see new artwork. They do a great job of showcasing up-​and-​coming artists and my favorites so far has been Sho Murase, Joey Chou, the popular Jerrod Maruyama (hipster mickey), Liana Hee and more.
There’s also a wide variety of prices too for everyone as there are the originals (most expensive), prints (less expensive), mugs/​magnets/​shirts (less expensive), to postcards/​buttons (affordable and cheap).
You can easily buy the 5×7″ postcards here and do a triptych of sorts with frames purchased somewhere else.
Buttons are also an easy way to collect art ($ 1.50 each).
Sometimes they’ll have artist signings on the weekends or weeknights along with showcasing costumes from their broadway shows (e.g. Lion King).

I recently went here to check out the new art and prints. I fell in love with so many! I ended up taking a print home and I’m going to frame it and hang it on the wall. It’s a beautiful little gallery with something for everyone.
They have regular artist signings, and the service here is very friendly and attentive.

I have made comments in reviews and to my fellow Unilocalers about my uncultured personality, so it is always surprising when I end up in art gallery. But even with my rough edges, I can still appreciate certain forms of art. I have some pieces purchased at the Disney Gallery above Pirates of the Caribbean before they remodeled the place.
This location used to be Island Charters (
), but apparently Island Charters went out of business over a year and a half ago. Guess I haven’t been stomping around Downtown Disney in a while.
The reason for my return to Downtown Disney (other than having not been in forever) was to get a print (
) from Peter Pan as a present for Jessica. After finding the print we needed, the better half and I took at look at the artwork on display and an artist (
) working his craft inside the store.
One of the artists I really liked (
) was named Noah. He started out selling his art door to door 25 years ago and now independently contracts with Disney and also works with personal collectors across the world. I have a soft spot for anything pirate and a few of his pieces (
) (
) really spoke to me. Or maybe it was just because the pieces had to do with pirates and I am a sucker for that stuff!
Rohlinism: Even the most unrefined individual should learn to appreciate the finer arts in some form!
One of the other pieces I found very striking was this piece (
), but I am not sure of the artist.
Even if you are not into art, the pieces here will impress any Disney enthusiast. They do regular Artist Showcases at Wonderground so check their website (
) for the list of days and artists. For passholders, your discount is applied toward your purchases.
This is a great way to see some excellent Disney art without paying the admission price for the park!

This is a great gallery since it takes the traditional Disney characters, and through authorized and licensed efforts, modern artists put their own spin and creative interpretations of the World of Disney and create unique and sometimes unconventional artwork that is less than traditional, but never boring and always imaginative.
One of the major artists I’m a fan of, J. Scott Campbell who is best known as a comic book illustrator who has done work for Marvel Comics (Spider-​Man, X-​Men, you name ‘em, he’s drawn ‘em) as well as Gen 13 and his own co-​creation and my favorite «Danger Girl» — — has work featured in the Wonderground Art Gallery, including limited edition prints, merchandise such as shirts, mugs, magnets and other swag.
So, without Jeff Scott Campbell’s work, it’s still great at * * * * (four stars) but when featuring his work, it maintains and retains that ultimate * * * * * (five star) status! I hope they continue to have him create more Disney masterpieces and do in-​store appearances (‘tho I’ve managed to miss each one he’s done in the past unfortunately)
This is definitely a store whether a casual Disney fan or a hardcore Disneyphile, for anyone and nearly everyone to enjoy. What I like about it is it’s not run of the mill and ordinary, it’s rather extraordinary. If you’re tired of owning what everyone else has or have seen, this is a place that stands out in the crowd.
I think those who navigate a little left of center or kids who are becoming tweens /​young adults can appreciate this more than the standard Disney Store for merchandise. It’s a bit on the alternative side, slightly edgy, quirky and stylized.
There’s lots of original art and prints, and it’s a feast for the eyes, so it’s a good place to look and everything is for sale, so one of the best options to shop at too.
I went when artist Liana Hee was appearing, and she was really nice and friendly. Her artwork is both cute and beautiful.
The Downtown Disney offers 2 (or maybe 3) hours of FREE PARKING and if you buy something from any of the merchants, and get validated it upgrades your free parking up to a total of 5 hours.

Visitors to Downtown Disney want to be immersed in everything Disney, and Wonderground doesn’t disappoint. Prices are high (duh!), but their artists put a clever and imaginative spin on all the traditional Disney icons, and you can really find some amazing art here.
I can’t think of anywhere I would put this stuff in my house, but I could stare at some of these pieces for a long time. With some art, you could stare for a long time and wonder what freekin’ @#$! message was the artist trying to convey. Not these. It’s beauty and love comes from the characters themselves, brought to somewhat new life by the artist’s interpretation – which thankfully stays close to the original.
