Hampton Inn Anchorage

We didn’t spend a whole lot of time at the actual hotel cause we checked in at 6pm, went out for the evening and were out by 9am the following day. But here are my impressions.
–Clerks were great. Fast check in and out and friendly.
–The room smelled a little musty when we got in there. We had to run the AC for the smell to disappear. It wasn’t really bad, but a little bit surprising and we were fortunately able to make it go away.
–While we didn’t get to use it, there is a gym and a pool.
–The room had all a hotel room needs and beds were comfortable.
–The free breakfast the next day was pretty good and had a lot of choices. And did I say it was free?
That’s really all I have to say about this place. It was a short stay but it worked for us.

Very nice and clean and everything was as it should be. The internet was fast and the room a good temperature. Quiet room at a good price and the breakfast was average compared to other hotels. Good solid place to stay. If they had a little extras on the breakfast and maybe a softer pillow I would have gave them 5 stars. If these things aren’t important to you then this is as good as it gets. I’ll be back I’m sure

The only good thing about this hotel was the staff. The rooms were tiny and there was an annoying low base humming in the walls. The only way to sleep is to move away from any of the walls, which also helps avoid the light coming from the outside nearby restaurant signs because the curtains in the rooms do not close all the way. That’s right people curtains that don’t close, so be careful when changing.
As for sleeping I suggest bringing your own blankets. The duvets that this hotel had on their bed have rips and tears in it allowing the duvet inside to slide out as you turn in your sleep. So what you think is your nice warm blanket is actually just an empty pocket that would hold your blanket. It’s cold in ak and will need more than an empty shell to keep you warm.
There were other problems with this hotel but I’ve said enough. Sleep here at your own risk.

We came to Anchorage to see the new Star Wars film, as well as sight-​see and stock up on groceries.
We stayed two nights, and had a very nice time at this hotel.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The morning staff, as well as those tending to the continental breakfast, were very friendly and positive.
I will be staying here again, and I will suggest others who may travel to Anchorage to do the same.

–dissapointed with exercise room: it is small, no weight machines or free weights, no room to do anything but use the 2 treadmills, 1 eliptical, or 1 bike. AND, it was CLOSED tonight. I picked this hotel bc it says it has a gym available.
–Yellow lampshades give room ugly old ambience.
–out-​dated furnishings (desk, sofa, photos)

+clean linens (signs say that your duvet cover is changed with sheets).

I wanted to have a place with a pool to take my two grandkids for the night. Check in and check out was a breeze. The front desk guy (sorry I didn’t catch his name) on 10 – 10 at 330pm was great. The pool was sooooo warm and nice. Tried this last year at a downtown hotel and the pool was so cold that we couldn’t swim. Anyway everything was great, the room was great. We’re going to do this again in a couple months. The only bad part is we ordered food from Applebees which was Horrible — but that had nothing to do with Hampton.

Have to commend the Hampton Inn for wonderful service. The room was clean and the beds were super comfortable. Staff was awesomely helpful too. The breakfast bar is the best I’ve seen for a hotel in its class and I was bummed to miss out on staying the next day because they were going to serve unique items such as Whale Blubber! Free Breakfast (with meat) and Free Shuttle means that your buck goes a long way with this fine establishment.

I stayed at this location for two weeks and even though the place is a little outdated and you can see it’s odometer raking up mileage, I had a very nice and welcoming stay, staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home, i did not have the issues others have mentioned in their reviews, my only problem was adjusting to the midnight sun, nothing they could do about it, unfortunately, but it was nice to go downstairs to the pool or jacuzzi when you can’t sleep, they set up a shuttle van to drop me off downtown so I could go do some shopping, after breakfast I’d get a bag with water, fruit and a granola bar to go (not all locations do this, yes, I’m looking at you Colorado Springs) I can’t speak good enough about the service I received.

So… Hampton Inns are usually pretty good. This one lacked considerably. The microwaves in the rooms, well, I haven’t seen those kind used in about 20 years. My room didn’t even have a clock in it. What kind of hotel doesn’t have an alarm clock in the room? I was there with a group, and everyone was paying separately. Well, first they had all of our names on all of the reservations. Then, they charged my credit card for most of the rooms even after everyone gave their own cards at check-​in (I held all the rooms on my card). The day we were trying to leave (at 6 am) the lady on shift said she couldn’t figure out how to change the charges and that the guy who knows how to do that was going to be in later. To me, the basics of checking in, checking out, and ensuring the transactions are completed properly should be in the skill sets of all shifts, not just day shift. But, I’m just a professional traveller, what do I know?

No coffee ready at 7:30am? I just went from tired and cranky to completely annoyed. Normally, I am patient with food service, as I am in it as well. But the entire hotel is a bit lagging in quality. Water took forever to heat up for my shower, the shower head is broken, walls are very thin, and the rooms definitely need a remodel. The staff is very nice, but the quality of the hotel is not worth the price.

Stayed here while training. No bedbugs super clean and great employees! Breakfast was good, good choices. Hot and cold dishes. It’s a little dated but I would stay again.

Horrible place!
I checked in late on the night of August 1^st 2013 and was so exhausted I went to sleep immediately. Too tired to do my normal room inspection. Big Mistake!
I woke in the morning to see what I thought where crumbs. Upon closer look I found LIVE bedbugs in bed with me! Gross.
I went to the front desk and requested a manager immediately come up to my room with me, I said there was an urgent matter in my room. Front desk employee said the manager was on a conference and could not be interrupted. I said BEDBUGS warrant in interruption. Manager admitted prior bedbug complaints but she said she never saw a live one. Housekeeping staff
I unfortunately had put my luggage on the empty bed which also had bedbug
Waste. I repurchased 3 suitcases and spent the day disposing of items in my luggage and doing lots of laundry. Don’t stay here!!!

Not the best HI we’ve stayed at. The staff and service is excellent; the free breakfast is kept hot and tasty; and the price is very competitive; BUT For a fairly new hotel the whole place it already feels like it has been rode hard and put away wet. The 3d floor is definitely cleaner and smells better that the other two.

Free wifi, comfortable beds, super friendly check in staff. Shuttle service to/​from airport and train station a huge PLUS. This property had self service laundry room, $ 2 per wash and $ 2 per dry. The rate was not cheap, I believe all of Anchorage is a bit pricey during the summer.

I have experienced better. The maid left the outside window open and we returned to a room with flies. The fruit selection at breakfast consisted of apples — what is wrong with a few bananas and oranges??? I expect better service from Hampton Inn.

I think I paid $ 238 for the room. It was just okay, the carpet was coming apart, but the bed was decent and room otherwise well set up. I like to have my room cool at night but it’s not possible here, set the thermostat to 60, but the room never got below 70.
On the upside– staff were all super nice.

My stay here has been great. They have a wonderful staff and the hotel is clean, comfortable and welcoming. They have a good breakfast buffet with hot and cold items plus waffles. My favorite thing is the iced lemon water, it’s very refreshing.
The pool is clean and there are plenty of clean towels available. I didn’t try the jacuzzi but it is huge. The work out area is well equipped for a hotel. They have 2 treadmills, an elliptical and bike.
The rooms are clean and have a microwave and refrigerator. They also leave plates and plastic cutlery at the breakfast area in case you need supplies for a midnight snack.
This is a very nice hotel and I would definitely return.

Wow, I don’t think the previous reviews do this hotel any justice… Maybe I was impressed because I came with a kid. The pool is where this hotel is a major deal, and the jacuzzi. You can freakin’ swim in the jacuzzi practically! And I’m tall so that’s a nice big hot tub. We stayed for 3 NIGHTS around Christmas, now does that tell you something? The only thing about our stay that was off-​par was on Christmas day the guy at the front desk didn’t have cookies and gave no reason. We received some stale, expired mini diet cookies for free from their little convenience snack store. This was at night when the overnight dude was there. The other one (with the squeaky voice) he is a good looking fella but I noticed they all have people hang out at the counter, probably friends or something. Well they have a free breakfast buffet, which had western omelets w/​peppers, cheese & sausage patties which were really good, nice and crispy on many. :) Biscuits and gravy along side the omelets one day. Bagels, cream cheese, waffle station, cereal bar, good boiled eggs. Everything looking nice and clean, everything was good. 24 hour coffee and tea bar, although the hot water seemed to run out & not be refilled at times. I think a lot of their guests enjoy tea (as do I !). There is a 24 hour business center w/​2 computers and printer that works well. The pool and jacuzzi are absolutely a dream come true. Very private setting with the big hotel parking lot as a landscape and Applebees further over. It’s beautiful to watch the sun rise over the mountains from the hot jacuzzi water bubbling effervescent all around your face. Wonderful. Oh, one last thing the kiddo just reminded me of… TGI Friday’s delivers food to your room here. There is 15% added to the prices on the menu in your room which makes for easy ordering for guests in town without a car. Or pick it up yourself for the regular prices or rather, walk to Applebee’s. It’s right there a few strides from the front door of the hotel. The price is right for pool time with the kiddos.

I stayed here for work because the corporate rate was ridiculously cheap ($ 99/​night in the summer). I really don’t like the Hampton Inn Chain because it’s a little budge for my taste. But, for $ 99 it is clean, the towels are decent, the free breakfast has a lot of variety (1 hot item, breads, cereals, fruit, 2 varieties of decent coffee & yogurt). They also had fresh baked cookies in the early evening, with bottled water. There is a also a free airport shuttle to the hotel, but you really need a car to get around in Anchorage.
It’s in an area called mid-​town, it’s about 10 – 15 minutes to the airport, and 10 – 15 minutes to downtown. The location is convienent, but you don’t feel like your in Alaska. You could be in anytown. There is no charm with an Applebee’s on one side and a Sea Gallery on the other (Alaska’s version of Red Lobster).
It was a great deal (the reason for 3 stars) — and I think «Value» is in this year!
