History

Established in 2006.

Run to the Sun Tanning Salon has been a part of the Anchorage Landscape since the late 1970’s. Originally known as Tan & Togs, then as Just Add Water for a brief while. Always known for Tanning and Ladies Swim Wear, Run to the Sun is Anchorage’s favorite midtown location for UV & Sunless Tanning. Now located on the corner of Tudor Rd and C St, we are centrally located for your convenience.

Run to the Sun Tanning has been a part of Anchorage for 20+ years. I couldn’t see it disappear from sight.

I get spray tans very frequently (at the most frequently, I was getting a spray tan every 1.5−2 weeks, and I’ve received good and bad spray tans in salons in 5 different states and counting). The spray tan I received here was one of my all-​time favorites. My technician very carefully mixed a formula specifically for my skin tone based on the color I wanted, and the tan came out very natural. I had no streaking, no uneven spots, and no orange. Plus, the color lasted a long time (a little over a week). And when the color did fade, it faded very naturally and evenly. Couldn’t ask for more! I already have an appointment to get another before Valentine’s Day weekend — can’t wait!

Love Run to the Sun! Always clean and friendly. Beds are good. Try the ionic foot bath too! Lots of choices for products. Reasonably priced and always a good special to take advantage of. Not difficult to get into a bed. Natasha, the owner, is a great lady! Give it a try!

Just started tanning for a specific event, after much research in the area I found this studio to be the best price for tanning. The help is very nice and know what they are talking about and are glad to explain why they recommend a product or bed level and time. Glad to be a customer and I will be recommending them to anyone I know that needs a little sun in their life

I love Run to the Sun for so many reasons. Customer service is friendly. Convenient mid-​town location and easy to get into beds with a simple phone call. Love the beachy decorative touches. Rooms are clean and a stool, chair, and hooks for clothing. They even have extra goggles and hair holders in case you forget yours. The owner, Natasha, is super friendly and will address any concerns or questions. Love the Groupon options for getting ready for a tropical trip.

I have been going to RTTS for 10 years now… and 3 owners! I tend to show up at the beginning of Summer to get ready for my vacations in the lower states. I have never had any problems with points, Employees or anything. I was a customer through a computer upgrade a few years ago and the team then did everything on paper. I enjoy the calming atmosphere and the little extras (Wipes, tissues, fans, radios, deodorant, and little table and shelf in each room.) Keep it up, lots of us appreciate it!

Lots of bed and level choices. The staff is very helpful for new tanners as well. They didn’t pressure me into any specials buys or deals either.

I have been tanning at Run to The Sun for about a year. This salon is always a nice place to visit. Staff is friendly. Salon is very clean. Bulbs are replaced often and the tanning beds work wonderfully. Prices are similar to other tanning salons in Anchorage. I really appreciate the staff’s understanding of the different tanning products and beds and ability to advise customers on what they might enjoy. Great service.

The only reason that I’m giving Run to the Sun 4 stars instead of 5 is just because of the up-​keep! Run to the Sun has the BEST spray tans around. I don’t really go there for regular bed tanning just because the kind of bed I like is one that they don’t have. Their staff has always been very nice to me, and may I just say that they all are SO pretty! I’ve worked at tanning salons before and I like the employees at this one:) the carpets could get replaced but it doesn’t bother me too much because I know the history;) but if you’re looking for a good, professional, hand-​sprayed spray tan, this is the best place in alaska to go BY FAR!

I have been using Run To the Sun for 6mo-​1year now and I am completely satisfied! I noticed a previous review dated (7÷4÷11) was un-​happy, however I took a look at her profile and she seems to be fairly unhappy with a lot of places, she has no idea what she is missing out on at RTTS! (All that beside the point, sorry!)
I was using another salon prior to RTTS and saw an add on Facebook where RTTS was having a special «Check in on Facebook and receive a free tan!» So I decided that day I was going to check it out and get a free tan, I haven’t been back to the other salon since that day. Why? The salon staff at RTTS were all very friendly. The rooms were clean and put together nicely. They even offer wet wipes, aerosol deodorant, towels, fans if the beds weren’t equipped with them and pillows for the beds! (At the previous salon I went to you got a towel, that was it.) While these items are not necessary they are nice to have at your fingertips if you need them.
If you are looking for a place to tan you should check them out for yourself!

Well Unilocal took down my more detailed and «ahem» rather abusive comments earlier so I will come back with one that is shorter, sweeter, and still gets the point across.
I have been to tanning salons all over the USA. This one took the cake for extremely rude employees, overpriced swimwear, and mediocre beds. I say mediocre because the highest level is a pretty good bed, its just ridiculously overpriced.
They also use that ridiculous point system so its very difficult to just walk in and get a simple tan without being coerced into buying a package deal that may or may not expire before you get around to using it.
There are tanning salons all over Anchorage. I recommend you run AWAY from this one.

I am new to Anchorage and was looking for a place to tan. I found Run to the sun made an apt. and went in. The girl that helped me was very friendly and patient. I realized after getting there that I could earn air miles with the $ I spend there so she helped me get signed up for that which was a little time consuming. I am a person that has a low tolerance for bad customer service which I have received in other businesses but I must say I received extremely awesome customer service here and love the quality of beds and lotions. I will definitely use this place as my tanning salon

Whoever posted that has a case of sour GRAPES! Not to mention being RUDE as alll knows. I have gone spray tanning several times; yes in 08 as well as recently! And have NEVER had an unsatisfactory experience. Ridiculous review that should be discounted completely.
