Salon Davinci

I recently had our third baby & was in dire need of some self care. I called this studio & they got me in on the same day. I love that as I hate planning ahead…
Megan was wonderfully accommodating with me and my newborn as he nursed under the drape. She asked what brought me to the studio and listened as I said what I wanted. I have long, plain hair, one length and I just wanted an inch off. She cut it in about 10 min and kindly asked if she could add some long layers and treat my hair to remove chlorine buildup I had from lots of pool time (no extra charge).
She then wanted me to «get my money’s worth» so she styled me in braids which is more than any stylist has ever done for me. She educated me on some color/​highlight options I could try for next time.
It was a great experience, I highly recommend you make an appointment with her.

I’ve done just about everything to my hair, and really damaged it (right after high school). So I decided to just let it grow out without coloring or lightening it.
After 3 – 4 years have FINALLY got it to the length that I want, and it’s all my natural color. So you could imagine how hesitant I was to let someone new color it.
When I walked into salon Davinci I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I checked in the receptionist was overly nice, offering beverages and letting me know where the restroom was. It kind of came off as fake, but I mean she was nice. I don’t remember her name, but she was the one with the buzzed cut.
So when it was time to get my hair done I was greeted by Megan. Love her! She understood what I wanted and listened to my concerns. Very easy to work with. And my hair turned out exactly how I wanted it!

Salon DaVinci is fantastic!!! Comfortable, clean, and trendy. Incredibly friendly staff who welcome you by offering you coffee, water, etc. Grace has cut and colored my hair many times, and she is a MAGICIAN. She makes sure she understands what you want, is knowledgeable about what will look right for your hair type, and she’s especially awesome when you go in with a «I don’t know what I want — just something different!» attitude. I always leave looking fabulous. Her skill with bright colors is especially impressive.
I get a lot of compliments (from strangers, which is when you know they mean it!) on my hairstyle, which is sort of unusual because it’s curly but short. It’s all thanks to Grace, who understands that different hair types have different needs. I recommend her and Salon DaVinci to everyone.

I wanted to update my review of Salon DaVinci. After leaving my first review and also a phone message for the salon, Jen, the owner, called me. She was very gracious and wanted to know what she could do to make it right. After talking with my daughter and Jen again, we decided that it was only fair that my daughter be given a refund of $ 20 since she was originally quoted the $ 45. I want to thank Jen for reaching out to fix this. This shows her personal integrity and the integrity of the salon and I appreciated her reaching out. We will give this salon another try!

I just had the worst haircut of my life. Scratch that, the worst was when someone turned my cute pixie cut into a horror that rivaled Opie from the Andy Griffith Show, but that is another story.
I know what you’re thinking, «What, what happened to you? Tell me!»
I know you’re eager to hear my pain so I’m going to Quentin Tarantino this sad saga of hair follicle debacle and tell you the end first: I have the start of a promising mullet and over 4″ missing in overall length of my once long beautiful mane.
I came in with a groupon and I asked for Jen (I know, I know, the only groupon one should get is when the activity goes no farther than moving a fork from a plate to one’s mouth, but I had a great experience here with Jen last time), but I was told that it was for Grace. I didn’t read the fine print, and I was a little worried since the last time I came in was for a facial and the chick wasn’t that great. She used an extractor when I specifically told her not to (I had to yank my face away after I told her to stop and she kept going) and the clay mask wasn’t fully washed off so my face dried out and I had bits all over my face at work. But remember, mullet. Okay, back to the story.
I came in and sat in the chair and tried to communicate what Jen had done last time to Grace and she seemed very confused, so I said just take the ends off up to 2″ along with the layers but don’t mess with the overall length. So she takes me in the back and quickly washes my hair, and throws a hot towel on my forehead. I tried to sit up for the deep conditioning, but she was like no you can stay down, and I asked, «Well how is the back of my head going to get conditioned?» but she was already walking away. I sat there like, okay, it’s really not the conditioning that I came here for but the haircut. So I got a nice heated forehead to the top of my head while the rest did not.
Go back to the chair and she starts. One thing that kept going through my head was, this cut is not like the others. No tying up the hair as the cut progresses, no measuring the sides and the front for eveness, etc… I was in a bit of a rush so I didn’t give my cut all the attention it deserved. I get back to work and my girl was like your hair is all choppy. I ran to the bathroom and looked at the front and was like, Oh no! Looked at the back with a mirror, Oh no! There were so many wrong things going on. Side note: Grace didn’t offer a mirror to check out the back, which I noted but decided to trust.
Went back to the shop and Grace was still there and I was like I don’t want to make this any worse, and I saw Jen and I was going to be like she can fix it, but Grace was like I can see what you’re saying and I can fix it. She kept fiddling with it trying to hide the cut damage, and I was like you shouldn’t have to do that, it should just naturally fall with the lengths being equal. She spouted off some excuses and started to cut and said okay looks better. There is a bit of a shelf here (in the front I might add which is the start of the mullet) do you want me to feather it in? No, it will grow back, and until then I will wear my hair up. Grace was like yeah, it will grow back and her voice trailed off realizing I did not want her to touch my hair ever again. It will take the better part of a year to undo this awful mess even though my hair grows fast. I will never return and I will never recommend anyone to come here other than to see Jen, the rest is a crap shoot and not worth the risk.
P. S. Edgy chick at the front desk is pretty great.
Update: I received a phone message from Jen almost 5 months after this review posted asking to discuss the awesome awfulness, and while I can appreciate her calling I’ve been going to Salon Ivy to repair the mess that was done. It’s a little too late, but again, thanks for the call.

Salon DaVinci is comfortable, but professional, and the staff is the very opposite of pretentious. I’ve been twice since, and every time I get a cut, I get compliments on my hair. Jen is very outgoing and personable, so sitting for her is a pleasure. When she cuts your hair, it’s obvious that her priority is giving you what you want, not getting out the door. Excellent work, wonderful atmosphere and company. :-)

I wanted to give this place 2 stars but my visit itself minus the haircut was actually fantastic. There is a push to color your hair, I noticed a fellow Unilocaler mentioned that too. Idk, it was just OK, for 56.00 I would think it would be better than just OK. I had one long strand that somehow was not cut, not a huge deal if I had liked my haircut but this was sort of the icing on the «OK» cake. I will not be returning and would not dream of suggesting this place.

Excellent haircut, fabulous color, great atmosphere!
First time at this salon, explained to Jen in general what I wanted, showed her a picture, but asked her to do what she thought would look good. I’m super happy with the results — it’s exactly what I wanted.
Salon is clean, relaxing, not pretentious at all. Love that they only use natural organic products, including color (no stinky, toxic ammonia).
Jen was very fun to talk to, and very good at what she does. manager of salon was friendly and professional. I highly recommend Salon DaVinci!!!

Forgot to leave a review but a few months ago I went to this salon and I had an appointment scheduled a month in advance but then something came up at the last second and I was so upset that I wasn’t going to be able to reschedule, but Jen completely saved my day by scheduling me a few hours earlier! Such great service and atmosphere, I will definitely be back.

Saw Jess at Salon Davinci, first time there, thanks to Groupon. Loved the ambiance, how knowledgable and friendly the staff were. No pressure to buy this or get that, just a great cut and highlights. Love the products she used, my hair smelled and looked so healthy (still does!). I will be back! If you are looking for a legit salon this could be the one!

Jen at Salon Davinci is awesome! I’ve been going for three years now and in so happy I found her!

I am a super-​saver and usually find myself cutting coupons out of ads for twenty-​dollar hair cuts. This time, however, I wanted more than just a trim. I wanted a short, stylish cut that was going to frame my nice long face. I went to Salon Davinci to see Savannah based on a friend’s recommendation. Savannah has the most gorgeous hair you’ve ever seen — it’s obvious she takes care of it and enjoys styling it. Savannah had the right questions: «how do you usually style your hair?» «direction of bangs?» «cut shorter in the back?» etc… She then worked up the perfect cut! I could not have imagined it better and I loved the way she styled it — perfect for the night’s presentation I was about to give. During our conversation, it was clear to me that Savannah is always trying to expand her skill set (despite the fact that I could tell she was already so talented). She said she likes mixing hair colors and that she and her co-​workers learn from each other. Savannah was very friendly and easy to talk to. I will definitely be back to see her.
Besides Savannah’s ability, Salon Davinci itself had a very comfortable atmosphere. The décor was well thought out. The woman at the front desk was warm and friendly both times I encountered her. She made sure I knew there was complimentary coffee/​tea/​cider to be had. The pace felt relaxed and I definitely felt the price was right — that’s something for someone who is always looking for the best deal.

I’ve decided to rewrite my review on Salon Davinci. I went last November and had my hair cut and colored by Jen using a Groupon. I had no complaints about my haircut or color! Loved it! Jen did an excellent job. She also turned me onto Kevin Murphy products. I did make reference to a few things but now that I’ve been back a second time, the issues were minor and not related to my overall service.
I saw another Groupon a few months ago for a haircut & organic color combo and jumped at the opportunity to return to this salon. I had a different stylist, Erna, and she went over and beyond my expectations! The last color I had in my hair brought out too much red so my stylist did an excellent job toning that down with a dark brown. She took about an inch off the length and reshaped my cut. My hair was smooth and silky.
I would highly recommend this salon! The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and a relaxing environment. I plan to return in the future for my next cut and color.

I’ve been going to Salon Davinci for about a year and a half. Jen is super awesome and does have someone to cover phones some of the time, but not always. Every time she’s had to answer the phone, it’s been quick and she apologizes for the interruption. I’m pretty low maintenance, so I never had a problem with it.
She’s a really great stylist and always has great recommendations on where to go with my rather obscure ideas of what I want from my hair. I used to live in D.C. and went to ritzy and highly recommended stylists — one was voted as one of the top in the D.C. area and yet Jen’s still given me the best haircut I’ve ever had. She also gave me the best haircut from the very first time. My other stylists took two or three cuts to ‘get’ my hair. Not so here. She also knows how to cut short hair so that it grows out nicely. I can miss an appointment and still have hair that looks good.
Well worth the money since I’ve gotten bad haircuts in Anchorage for $ 35 and $ 40. I’d rather pay a bit more for something much better.

I jumped on the chance when Salon Davinci featured a groupon for services. I booked a keratin treatment and was excited to have a few more months of hassle-​free hair.
My stylist was very sweet but somehow convinced me my fine hair’s problem wasn’t frizz… it was lack of color. She talked me into getter blond (er) highlights and as for the frizz, pointed me in the direction of a hair serum.
Well, I tried the serum, but it hardly does the job. It actually makes my hair look greasy and a wee bit stringy if I’m not armed with a hairbrush in the middle of the day. Basically, I should’ve stuck to my guns on this one instead of her telling me a blowout would be a waste of time. She also layered my sides ridiculously too short, to the point where I can’t tie it in a ponytail with the rest of my hair, which is quite irritating at the gym.
