History

Established in 1995.

Terra Bella’s founder and owner, Linda Vollertsen, has family roots in Alaska that go back over 100 years. She invites you to experience what a family-owned, and globally-inspired company can offer.

Starting with an all organic coffee drive-thru in 2005, Terra Bella has grown from the small coffee cart on Benson Blvd in Anchorage to their warm, inviting café bakery where they bake and cook all their delicious entrée’s.

As well as their daily selection of decadent pastries and desserts, they are committed to hosting health-conscious events, music, poetry, storytelling and art showings.

They serve 100% fairly traded, organic coffee. «Anything less than 100% is not fair nor is it being respectful to our planet,“says Linda Vollertsen.

For those with dietary concerns, Terra Bella’s kitchen staff has added vegan, vegetarian and a great list of gluten-free products. «Thank you for making fresh, delicious gluten-free bread, it is the only bread my son will eat,» Bev Price, customer.

Meet the Business Owner

Linda V.

Business Owner

After 20 years as a jewelry artist, and raising two of her three children, Linda Vollertsen decided to jump into something completely different. Coffee!

«I knew I wanted to do something that was helping others or the environment and after researching I found that coffee was the second highest traded commodity just below oil. Coffee farming also has the lowest wages paid to farmers and can be one of the highest sprayed crops with pesticides», says Ms. Vollertsen.

After buying a coffee cart, renting a space in mid-town and partnering with Michael McGuire, roaster extraordinaire, and training to express the perfect shots of coffee, Terra Bella, Inc. was opened in January of 2006.

After a couple years at the cart and positive word-of-mouth growing their business, they opened their bakery café in South Anchorage on one of the busiest streets in Anchorage.

«About 80% of our customers were from South Anchorage, we knew that’s where we wanted to be and we love it», Ms. Vollertsen says.
