Felt like I stepped back in time today eating here. You get so used to chain restaurants that you forget how it’s supposed to be. Soda fountain, atmosphere and good food. The onion burger and fries were great. I got a chocolate Coke!!! Good stop for sure.

Perfectly nestled by the tracks and glowing of yellow yesteryear, this place has all the appeal one would need for a sunny Saturday outing. Quaint and cozy, friendly staff, delicious food… A+!

The lemon drop is great. It has that old school diner feel to it. They even have a cute train that goes around the room. The food is what you would expect at a diner. They have burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken fingers, fries, onion rings, etc. The onion rings are big and delicious. I also really enjoy their chicken fingers. The only thing that would make this place better is if they somehow added additional space. I get the building is a landmark Anderson thing, but it is hard to eat there a lot of the time because it is always packed.

Skip the single burgers. It’s just enough to make you mad. The onion burger was awesome — flavor of a good patty melt — I just wanted a side of thousand island dressing. Our shared cherry vanilla milkshake was out of this world. Little bit of sticker shock but OK. 3.5

This is an Anderson institution. Seating is limited but adds to the charm. The onion burgers are a must. Truly a hidden gem.

Great food and excellent service. Only in town for 2 days so I ate the onion burger, breaded tenderloin, fries with a Vanilla Coke. Started getting full so I put the last half of each sandwich together. Onion burger tenderloin sandwich hybrid was epic. I should get naming rights! A must visit if you’re in town.

I love this little place!!! The service is great! I usually get a burger on toast! My kids are always asking to eat here. I love that The Lemon Drop is still thriving. It’s a «must visit» if your in the Anderson Area!

I will start this review off by saying that my hubby and I will disagree on the star level here. I did not grow up in town and so I think part of The Lemon Drop charm is lost on me. It’s a cute little old diner with loads of nostalgia going on. They have a toy train running all the time around the perimeter above your head and sitting at the counter is pretty fun. The grill is out in the open so you watch them cook your food. If you like onions(and who doesn’t??) definitely order an onion burger. It’s two thin burgers stuffed with cooked onions. I also like fresh raw onion on top of mine, because the more onion the merrier. The hubby loves a legit Vanilla Coke, and this is about the only place in town to get one made with axial syrup. He says they rock. Basically, if you like a cute(somewhat kitschy but not in a bad way) diner, check it out.

I love this place! It reminds me of a genuine old school diner. In terms of food, expect a local(way more fun) version of steak and shake.

I’ve been going here since I was a little kid and adore this place. Not much seating and it gets very busy, so plan accordingly. Don’t eat meat? Try a grilled cheese and add grilled onions, it’s fabulous. The fries are great as well(similar to Steak n’ Shake). Their chocolate shakes are tasty. You can also get flavor shots in your sodas and the crushed ice they use is awesome.

We were running errands in the area(up from Indy) and wanted a quick spot of lunch. Unilocal led us to the Lemon Drop and we were not disappointed! The place was lively and busy, but we were able to snag seats at the counter. We were immediately greeted by all three gals working, and water was put in front of us before our butts hit the seats! We saw a note on Unilocal about the onionburgers, so we ordered three, plus a side of fries to share. Service was quick, prices were beyond reasonable, and the choo-choo train was a fun distraction. We are big fans of Route 66, and the Lemon Drop reminded us of so many places we have stopped along that historic road… we’ll gladly drop in again next time we’re in Anderson. :)

Probably my most favorite spot when I come home! Always get the tenderloin sandwich, ALWAYS. It’s been around forever and it’s still great every time! A must try if your in the area, trust me you won’t regret it!

Unpretentious throwback style automotive town diner with a no frills style of food and service. My daughter and I dropped by for dinner recently… had driven by many times and you simply cannot miss the lemon yellow exterior. Seated ourselves and ordered up an onion burger and rings… very fresh and just like you would expect for diner fare. Daughter had a grilled ham and cheese with fries, also very good. Low cost, good service, lemon drops at the counter after you pay. Cool place and will be coming back.

A typical greasy spoon, place was packed with locals. I don’t eat at these places very often but this was very good. The service was great and I liked the feel of the place. If you are in the mood for a good burger or tenderloin, worth going out of your way.

Great onionburgers! We lucked out and got a table as soon as we walked in. The server was friendly and fast. You can watch the guy at the grill making food to order. It was clean inside. The décor is a bit dated which probably adds to the charm a bit. My onionburger was cooked nicely with the right proportions of toppings. The onion rings were hot and crisp. The food came out quickly considering it was crowded. I appreciate they don’t try to do anything fancy, sticking to what they know. The small menu makes it affordable and consistent. And they definitely know how to cook a burger! I will definitely go back and would like to try a milkshake next time.

Great divey diner! Pros: friendly staff, nice grungy lovable atmosphere, good food for a decent price, fast service. Cons: VERY small, they don’t serve a large variety of food(man I would love it if they served diner breakfast food!!), don’t serve pies. This place would totally be more awesome if they sold good homemade pies.

I like this place. Like others mentioned, it’s a cute little diner that is a throwback to the 50’s, with an old fashioned neon lit sign out front, and booths and counterspace that reminded me of something from Happy Days. There’s a toy train that runs on elevated tracks which was fun to watch too. We ordered the onion rings, burger, and got a chili to go. The onion rings were delicious and the burger was solid – thin patties with grilled onions on top. Fast, friendly service. Overall, a fun place with a good vibe and good service. Avoid all the corporate crap(McDs, BK, Olive Garden, and so forth) and try out the Lemon Drop for decent diner food and a nice hit of nostalgia.

Quite simply one of the greatest little places I’ve ever found. The Lemon Drop is a true old fashioned diner. The entire menu(ONIONBURGERS!!) is contained in a board on the side wall– because that’s all it needs. Less is more here, SIMPLE. This is a sandwich-and-a-cup-of-coffee kind of place, and I’m glad that’s what it is. If 1940s pop music had been playing on the radio, I would’ve believed I had stepped back in time. Go for the excellent food and the truly kind hometown service… stay an extra few minutes to learn about the way life once was.

Classic Indiana burger joint. This place is a holdover from the auto industry heyday. Formerly a blue collar diner, now it is a nostalgia-laden classic. It is a colorful(yellow, of course) cinderblock building with a great sign outside. It is surprisingly small inside, but very authentic. The stars here are the burgers. They are thin and prepared as burgers were 50 years ago(so I’ve been told! I’m not that old). I highly recommend the cheeseburger on toast(which is exactly what it sounds like) or the onion burger. The cokes have the good kind of small, slush-like ice. The waitresses are super nice so tip them well. The only thing you have to be careful of is that it might be closed around major holidays!
