History

Established in 1978.

Mermaid was started in 1978 by Tom Murr and Dave Rich. Mermaid shared it’s first store location with an auto body shop that opened during the winter months. After moving a second time and Dave selling his shares to Tom, Mermaid settled into it’s third location in Anderson (just down the road from the current one) for over 20 years. Those years Tom and wife Brenda helped build Mermaid into what it is today.

In 1995, Tom and Brenda’s son Scott joined the family business and Mermaid opened a 2^nd location in Muncie, Indiana. Then in 2002, Mermaid expanded once again by building its current showroom and warehouse on the north side of Anderson.

Manager

I started working for Mermaid in 1999 testing pool and spa water and restocking shelves. I now manage the parts department along with helping customers in store. I work closely with our service department as well helping bridge communication between them and our customers.
