Tokyo Steakhouse

My coworkers & I decided to try hibachi at Tokyo Steakhouse on a Friday night. We made a reservation for 630 and got sat pretty quickly. The feel of the restaurant is nice. They’re really big, and we’re really busy. I love trying different hibachi places. My only complaint was that the cook wasn’t very energetic, he didn’t talk at all. He just cooked and smiled a little bit. His whole section was full too, you would think he would’ve been putting on a show. The food and drinks it self was very good, can’t complain. If you’re looking for a hibachi place and you’re nearby it is ideal to visit Tokyo.

the food was ok last night however the service was horrendous. The waitress did not speak to us at all except asking for «drinks,» when I asked for assistance with the menu, she just said what you drink… the chef had no personality. No effort made to make the experience enjoyable at all.
Even when we explained we were there for a birthday, there was no special effort given. He even placed some shrimp on my daughters plate. She does not eat seafood. Good thing she wasn’t allergic.
For the $ 200.00 I spent on this dinner, I was very dissatisfied.

Food is terrific and always a nice atmosphere. I have been to other Tokyo’s around but the one in Andover is the best.

The materials are fresh and there are many kinds of sushi to choose. It is a nice place for family dinner party

I’ve only gone twice for large work outings, but thought it was terrific both times. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere is so much fun. The chefs are quite entertaining with a great sense of humor as well. Highly recommended for a crowd. I’ll have to try it with a twosome at some point to see if it’s as enjoyable.

I’m from out of town, and visited for work over the weekend. My boss and a few other coworkers were in the mood for hibachi and this seemed like a good place.
It was different than any other hibachi restaurant than I’ve ever been to. The majority of the restaurant is made up of hibachi tables.
We sat down and were immediately greeted by a nice waitress. I ordered a blue Hawaii, which was amazing and my other coworkers ordered a scorpion bowl.
We all orders something different (I ordered the teriyaki chicken) and between the four of us two ordered the garlic noodles and the other two ordered the fried rice and we were going to share.
The hibachi chef was very good, but as other reviews said, they don’t do typical hibachi chef things like squirting Saki in your mouth and tossing veggies to catch in your mouth. I didn’t mind this because the food was delicious! The garlic noodles were to die for!!! I almost wish I ordered it for myself!
We come to this area every year and we will be planning on going again!

I’ve only ordered hibachi combinations from this restaurant, and every time they are spot on. Fresh veggies, fish, and meat cooked by entertaining hibachi chefs right in front you. In addition to the food, prompt waitstaff that serves potent drinks keep me coming back. Compared to other hibachi restaurants, this restaurant is more «low key». They do not squeeze the bottle of sake into your mouth from across the grill or attempt to flick veggies into your mouth. Overall, a great spot.

We ordered takeout. The sushi was fresh and clean. The rice was nicely prepared, just as it would be in Japan. My only complaint is that we ordered Toro. Toro is the fatty belly portion of bluefin tuna. What we received was more like a piece of lean tuna, beaten with a mallet, topping a poorly formed rice. It was only $ 8 for 2 pieces, so I guess you get what you pay for. Very disappointed!

Love it here. Good sushi and combo platters. Our entrees came with soup and salad for two. The scorpion bowls were good too. I know a lot of people like the Hibachi too, but we just dined in the small bar area that was less noisy. Ample parking, service was fine.

Great place, reminds me of one called ruyi but they didnt hav enough sauce. There was not much sauce on stuff or atleast on mine. I loved the food though and if they put the sauce that the ruyi place uses then it wud be my fave. U shud try it i always thought it was bad, i guess its not.

I have never had a bad experience here. The service is quick and friendly, and the chefs are culinary artists!

Their Sushi was good, the hibachi was just average quality food. They have Andes mints, what else can you ask for.

Have been here a couple of times with my hibachi-​crazed co-​workers. Before that, I’d driven by many times but didn’t know what to expect inside the Tokyo Steakhouse. It was pretty good.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is a little chaotic and a lot of noise — but that’s probably not a surprise when you’re going to a dinner that is meant to be a show. The chefs make a great performance of their knife skills and flaming volcanos fashioned out of veggies. It’s fun.
The food is also pretty good — I highly recommend getting some sort-​of surf-​and-​turf combo. The filet mignon cannot be passed up — it is tender and flavorful and amazing. You also can’t go wrong with shrimp or salmon. Sometimes I have found the fried rice to be a little bland, but that’s just me — nobody else I’ve been with seemed to notice.
Drinks are what you’d expect from an asian restaurant — tropical & strong. Among us we had a flaming scorpion bowl for two, a bunch of cocktails (my favorite came served in a glass that looked like a coconut) and a few rounds of sake.
I recommend giving it a try if you haven’t already. Round up a lot of people to go with you — each table seats a lot of people and the-​more-​the-​merrier, right? :)

We had Shabu Shabu at Tokyo Steakhouse in Chestnut Hill, and it was very good. The chicken broth was excellent, and full of rich flavor. The veggies are fresh, and they give lot’s to add to your broth.
The hostess is very friendly, and accommodating to your special requests.
The servers are excellent, and provide 5 star service.

If you’re dining in, know that the service is poor and slow, the food is strangely timed if not everyone orders hibachi, and the place is definitely set up in a strange way (one giant open room). The fact that we’re all in the same room makes it more obvious when you’re waiting a while for your food, and watching everyone else. I usually get take-​out from here rather than dining in the dining room. The bar appears nice though, from the outside.
Pros: The portions are quite large if you do hibachi, and I do absolutely love some of their sushi rolls (like the banana roll, amazing!). They also give out Andes mints, which I always look forward to.
I would recommend this place for a fun family dinner (seems full of kids), but otherwise I’d get takeout and skip the in-​restaurant experience.

Worthy of a return visit to explore then menu a bit more.

In the madness of Black Friday, this was a nice quiet place to sit and have a good Thanksgiving-​counterprogramming lunch of Japanese food. It’s a big, dark space that, at lunch time, makes you feel like a real slacker that’s ignoring things you should be doing instead. i liked that. They also make nice mixed drinks that got my sisters-​in-​law nicely toasted so that my mother-​in-​law had to drive their car badly and there was drama.
But you’re really there for the in-​your-​face hibachi grilling, which was predictably enjoyable. The friendly chef played all the hits, the onion volcano, the fire, the cheery banter in just-​a-​little English. And the food was good, too; i enjoyed the heck out of my soba noodles, and the wife’s steak was pretty good too. It’s a decent value; you’re not stuffed, but certainly sated for around $ 10.
This is the sort of place you kinda forget exists, which makes it such a fun change when you go.

Came here last night for my girlfriends birthday had fun! 3 stars because we asked the staff 3x to sing happy birthday to my friend they never did, slightly disappointed. Would go back place is good no complaints about the food.

Decidedly mediocre. We did hibachi (steak/​chicken/​lobster). I’ll admit that the portion sizes are generous (they should be for their prices!) and the food looked fresh. However, the food tasted quite bland and the restaurant was a sauna. I’ve been to many a hibachi place, and they seem to do a much better job with temperature calibration. The service was also poor when it came to trying to pay our bill.
All in all, because of the poor service and bland food, we probably won’t be back.
