We found a great deal on priceline — it was a «choose your own rate» deal and we ended up with the Fairfield. Price was substantially lower than Fairfield, and honestly, I probably wouldn’t have booked at that price. Having said that, we got lucky that priceline selected Fairfield Inn for us. It’s right off 35 and within a 5 – 10 minute drive of just about every chain store or restaurant you could imagine, right on Delaware Ave. While the area isn’t very walkable, I did walk less than a block to get a pedicure, and a Mexican restaurant is across the parking lot. Rooms were comfy, but walls were pretty thin(which is probably standard for hotels of this nature). Front desk staff were very friendly, and they accomodated our request for a crib. Cribs are nice Greco pack & plays. Free breakfast was decent. Coffee was very good. Free wifi was strong. There was a nice workout room and pool area that we didn’t use, but they looked nice. A very A-OK place to stay in Ankeny! We’d stay again if we could find a similar deal.

Excellent! Clean and everything is pretty modern. Hotel staff were excellent in working with me through an odd payment situation and were friendly and professional. Haven’t gotten a chance to take advantage of the pool or breakfast yet but I’m looking forward to it!

Across the street from this place I’d pulled off the interstate, knowing there were several lodging options in the area, finding myself at I-35 Spirits. «Where’s the best place to spend the night around here?» I asked the counter intelligence. «I’d say Fairfield. Best Western is sorta outdated, people stay there for the pool. Days Inn is a little better. I’d go with Fairfield.» I bought my six pack of local white IPA, hopped in the truck and popped open the Unilocal app. Sure enough, the ratings mirrored the local’s words: #1 Fairfield, #2 Days Inn, #3 Best Western. You won’t find much to elevate this clean, comfortable joint from most overnight box hotels, but it’s a nice stay with the basics and especially friendly service. I enjoyed the attitude of the woman who checked us in and the breakfast buffet attendant. Yum, plenty of fruit, cereal, and pastry/muffin options for your morning munch. No mini-fridge or microwave, so ya best keep those IPAs in the champagne bucket. Take it from the Local: Unilocal knows what’s up.

Pleasantly surprised by this place. Price was steep since it’s Iowa(which apparently is starting to think of itself as a grown-up, now, with prices comparable to large cities). Bed was okay. Pillows were great. The air conditioner/heater has a mode where it runs on Fan and doesn’t shut off, providing awesome white noise. Breakfast was very good, if a little on the not-as-hot-as-it-should-be side. Eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, and biscuits/gravy…yum! The only criticism I would have would be the 9am time for the end of breakfast. I didn’t get in until 2am, so having to wake up at 8:30 or miss breakfast was annoying. Overall, great stay.

We arrived last night after a 5hr drive. The service was very welcoming. We enjoyed our time there. Breakfast today was clean, quick and plentiful. We enjoyed our time and will definitely come back if we are in the area I highly recommend it if you are driving through.
