In reference to Dr. Joel’s Comments:
You state that you do not force patients to undergo treatment, but you will however then bill $ 100.00 if patients do not undergo treatment from a physician that they do not want to see, or in this case a psychologist, for migraine pain.
You additionally state, «All patients are informed well in advance.» Incorrect. I was scheduled to take the appointment for a cancellation with less than 24 hrs notice. At NO time did I have an «initial assessment.» No, the appointment with a psychologist was not scheduled with my knowledge or permission.
You close your statement saying that you are willing to discuss and attempt to find solutions to any perceived problem. In response, I would like to continue my migraine treatment at MHNI.

Dr. James Weintraub and the rest of the staff at MHNI saved my life. I had been told I had brain tumors, syphilis and was just downright crazy before I came here. The initial interview with then-​staff nurse Cindy Bruggner was like a moment when you imagine heaven opening up and the angels singing: I had found people who understood what I was saying. Dr. Weintraub worked very closely with me until the appropriate protocol was found for my type of migraine; my treatment even included a stay in their unit at Chelsea Memorial Hospital under the direct care of MHNI founder Dr. Joel Saper.
I am still on a protocol prescribed by Drs. Weintraub and Saper and am able to live a normal, 99% headache-​free life.
