Meet the Business Owner
Michelle M.
Business Owner
Studying math and science in college toward an engineering degree, and struggling with calculus, I decided to take a few art classes– drawing and beginning garment construction. Well, it was like getting hit on the head with the proverbial brick. I had no idea I had any aptitude for art and design, let alone be pretty good at it. I was off and running and now consider myself to be a «garment engineer».
I am the founder and owner of Nonpareil Shirt Company, Nonpareil Studio, and Michelle Moenssen Wearable Art. I was an Elizabethan costume designer for The Detroit Institute of Arts’ Wassail Feast, and after making Renaissance costumes for The Madame Cadillac Dance Theater of Detroit, traveled to France with them on their European tour. I am a member of Fashion Group International, and I held a board position for 4 years before becoming Regional Director of the Detroit chapter. I am currently on the board of the Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild. My fiber art has been exhibited nationally.
