Over the years I’ve found fewer and fewer interesting things here — my taste has certainly changed, but Pier 1 has gotten more frilly and less bamboo over the same period. Gone are the southeast-Asian papasan chairs, replaced by tufted European numbers and ornate picture frames. There’s still some basic dishes, but more and more novelty patterns. This location is also overcrowded for my taste — there’s little room to walk down the aisles, and you spend much of your time edging your way around vases and pillows that stick into the walkway.

This place is dangerous, if you have no discipline. But if you have a fairly concrete idea of what you like and don’t like in your home, you should be able to wander around, look at all the fun stuff, and then get only what you went there to find. Pro Tip: Bring a floor plan, a tape measure and color swatches with you. Dishes and other housewares, candles galore, cute gifts, and even furniture. Styles range from«seen on Pinterest» to «sophisticated Parisian» to «wanna be Asian» to «Bohemian.» A nice mix that will probably have something apropos for your abode. Go visit often, because you never know what you’re going to find there.

Love the color and ideas of this place. I need to figure out how to translate the array of colors and accents to my home. Such a great selection and pretty affordable too. Only bummer was that they have a lot of different colors in the vase stones, but not any colors I was looking for. Champagne, pink, orange, etc. Only had blue, green, fall and dark. I will keep looking for what I seek but will pop in at Pier One when I need some decorating inspiration.

Sometimes this store has just what I want. A wicker stand for holding towels. An inexpensive rocking chair. Candle thingies. White dishes. Batik cushions. Funny little table runners or cloth napkins. Other times I go in and I don’t find anything at all.
