I special ordered a custom birth announcement and they failed to send me the proof for several weeks. Had to call to get it sent and they were rude about it, stating they had already sent it. I checked all inboxes and my trash and it wasn’t there. The owner, Lisa, finally sent it with a note reminding me she had already sent it. Really? Just say here it is and let know what you think. Well, the long awaited proof was ALL WRONG. For example, was supposed to be pink and green and it was red and blue??? Was supposed to have a cross and it had a giraffe instead. Called and she sent me another proof, which was wrong again. Replied to the email I would be in that day to reorder and clear up any confusion, as my original order obviously got lost. Went in. Lisa was rude, put out, treated me horribly in front of other customers, implying I was too picky. Really? Just want what I ordered… sat at your big wooden table with an associate, who was very pleasant, and filled out the order. Lisa claims she never lost my order, but there’s no other logical explanation for the numerous mistakes, which were NOTHING like what I ordered. To top it all off, they charged my credit card again when I went in to correct their mistakes. They made a special moment, like ordering my baby’s birth announcement, an unpleasant debacle and rude experience. I have been a loyal customer since moving to Ann Arbor in 2012, buying gifts there and cards. If I didn’t want the birth announcement so badly I would’ve canceled the order based on the sheer rudeness of Lisa. The mistakes I can forgive, but the attitude was seriously uncalled for. I will never step foot in that store again, which I’m sure they could care less, as Lisa said, «I do t have to do this order for you?», prior to my reminding her I paid upfront for it and the mistakes are ALL THEIRS, not mine. Ughh… love supporting downtown, but not this place!!!

Such a cute shop with a very clever name. Paper products galore! I definitely lost track of time. Alot of the single wrapping papers I would want to just frame and hang on my walls! There is a back section with all of the little invites and cards for the bride to be.

It’s a cute store, lots and lots of greeting cards! Woman behind the counter was very friendly. My only issue — seemed that everything I picked up to possibly purchase was $ 14. LOTS of $ 14 prices that in my humble opinion was just too much.

I get lost in this store, there’s so much to take in! If you think you’re running in and grabbing a card quickly, not a chance, you’re stuck for awhile. Went in needing a card for a sick friend, and there is literally so much to choose from. It’s not like shopping for cards at Meijers, there you just scan the card because it’s so generic that you can’t go wrong with a basic card that they offer. That’s not the case at Rock, Paper, Scissors, here you have a wide variety of limited personalized cards and gifts, true to the moment in which it makes it harder for anyone to choose. Example: this card is for a sick male friend, who is into trains, motocross and hunting. Sure enough I found a manly card for him, which had a train sketch on it wishing him well.
Literally whatever the occasion is, you will find the perfect card reflecting the individual you’re buying for. In a different section, found some more cute things to fit his personality. I love everything in there and want it all, even if the theme doesn’t apply, just so cute! They also have personalized gifts for birthday parties, basically any party that you can think of, it’s there!
They handpick all of their items for that store, they choose designers or artists which are hand picked locally and in Michigan also across the country. Will be back quite often, (have a list of what I need) wedding, a baby delivery, birthday, Easter and Mothers Day. They are even willing to help you personalize an item for you, if needed. Stop in there when you have time to take it all in and you will, it’s refreshing to see non commercialized cookie cutter cards.

I love this store for their selection of greeting cards. There’s some for any occasion and personality type. Whenever I need to pick up just a couple of cards, or if I’m stocking up for the future, I like to come here to browse. I almost always end up getting something. One thing I would like to see is a larger selection of card sets; they only seemed to have a few when I went.
Another plus is the custom wedding invitations they do; I walked by quickly but the options seemed infinite!

Nice stuff but the prices are HIGH and not always listed. I had some intense price shock at the register.
First thing I grabbed was a gift bag for $ 6. To me that’s a bit high, but it was a nice bag (it would get re-​used several times) and I was in a rush so I grabbed it. I needed some tissue paper, but they didnt have any. In a pinch I grabbed a single piece of 14×14 white paper with reindeer printed on it. No price listed, but how much can a piece of paper cost, $ 1? Maybe in an overpriced Ann Arbor Main St store it would be $ 2.
NOPE. It was 4 dollars. For a piece of paper! I was shocked and appalled, but I also needed to be at my gift exchange 15 min ago, so I paid and left. All together the cost of my gift bag/​paper was $ 10.60, which was 60 cents more than the limit for my gift exchange. With no money left I just filled it with dirt and put it anonymously in the pile. How embarrassing! I’m kidding. I grabbed something at Cherry Republic. The night was saved, but I felt like I had been hustled.

This shop is my favorite on Main Street. I often stop in at lunch to check out any new items they carry from Rifle Paper Co, Paper Source, and more. The shop is pretty well stocked and they cram a lot of great stuff in for the size.
The back of the shop is an invite creating/​designing area. Lots of great colors, vendors, and designs to choose from. Unsure of if this shop has a gift registry, but the sister shop to this one is a block away, still on Main St, called Bed & Butter and they do have a registry and some higher end home goods.
If you’re in the area I recommend stopping in even just to stroll. They have lots of very cute items and stuff for guys too. Among the wrapping paper, local art, beautiful greeting cards, and adorable unique children’s toys, there is so much more to strike your fancy.
The only reason I didn’t give this shop a 5 star rating is because it’s so popular that sometimes if you don’t grab something the first time you see it, it’s gone when you go back. Also, there is a lack of low priced items. I’d say the least expensive items in the shop are their beautiful greeting cards that average at least $ 6.

I love this fun little shop that was just added to Downtown Ann Arbor! Whenever I need stationary I come here — They have original cards and gifts you can’t find anywhere else. Every city should have a Rock, Paper, Scissors!

They don’t allow returns. Only in-​store credit. Don’t buy anything expensive unless you love it. Other wise you will end up spending $ 50 on stupid cards and junk just to use up your gift card.

Super fun little shop with lots of letterpress cards and fun local stuff, little coffee table and gift books, and clearly, a ton of options for personalizing stationary and other home items. Every city needs an awesome little card and gift shop.

My fiancée and I came to Rock Paper Scissors looking to do wedding invitations for our wedding in September. I liked what I saw on their website, and when we happened to be in downtown Ann Arbor one day, we stopped in and took a look around the store. The store itself was definitely ‘cute’, and they had a lot of very nice looking invitations up in their wedding section. They were closing soon, but we asked if we could make an appointment to come back. The ladies working the register were very nice, but told us that only the store owner does wedding appointments, and she wasn’t in the store at that time but we should send her an email.
So we sent an email, and after a few days we had an appointment setup for the following week. I couldn’t make it, but my fiancée went. She got some basic info, and explained what we were looking for. She also explained that we were in a bit of a time-​crunch on the invitations since we wanted to have them sent out to people by, at the latest, the end of May. This was April 21^st. The store owner said she would get a couple quotes put together and sent our way soon.
We waited about a week, and sent her an email asking about the quotes. She said she was having email problems, and she sent them again the next morning. We took a few days to look over the quotes and decide on what we wanted to do. We then replied to her email asking to set up another appointment to come into the store and figure out all the details. That was almost a week and a half ago, and we have received no response at all. We have tried calling the store too, but they keep saying that the best way to get in touch with the owner is through email.
I understand that occasionally people have problems with emails not sending or whatnot, but she has our phone number and by now should have reached out to us if her emails weren’t sending. And since we have no phone number for her, we have no way to get in touch with her.
At this point we have moved on and will attempt to work with a different shop, it’s just too bad because it looks like the letterpress invitations that Rock Paper Scissors does are very nice. However, the lack of consistent communication is a real turn-​off, and with now less than 4 months to go before the wedding, it’s not something we can deal with.

Rock Paper Scissors handled my wedding invites for our June destination wedding in Colorado. They put together the cutest booklet that was very unique and super informative for our traveling guests. Their design, turn around and quality was excellent! They are total pros that can whip up anything that fits your style, whether you’ve been planning your wedding since childhood or just want to keep things simple. ;)
Go on in, or give them a call and everything will all of a sudden get so much easier.

This is a pretty darling place with lots of gift giving potential for non-​Michiganders. There’s a section of the store exclusively dedicated to Ann Arbor/​UM gear that’s my particular favorite — mini canvases, mugs, Smitten With the Mitten paraphernalia all emblazoned with A2 and Michigan landmarks. Its aesthetic is a bit too cutesy for me, but if I ever move away from Michigan I’ll consider getting something from Rock Paper Scissors to remind me of the place I’ve called home for 23 years.

This is a lovely shop in downtown Ann Arbor. I’ve had a wonderful experience at this store on both of my visits to Ann Arbor. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll admit that my first visit was biased by the fact that it was during the polar vortex and that this shop was a safe haven from the cold. They could have been selling anything really and I would have loved it…
Nevertheless, Rock Paper Scissors has a great selection of unique greeting cards and gifts. They sell high quality paper product brands like Rifle Paper Co. In need of a new planner? This is your place. They also have all kinds of «gifty things.» Unique Michigan shirts, cute books for travelers, new moms, brides, and students, a whole wall of magnets for different occasions, glass water bottles, specialty school supplies… so many things you never knew you needed, but now that you know they exist you just have to have. I definitely recommend making a stop here. I look forward to visiting this shop again on my next trip to the mitten.

Very cute store with some good Ann Arbor gifts. So many adorable things that I didn’t know I needed until I saw it! Bought a GO BLUE sign and Ann Arbor post cards. One of the best gift shops in AA.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is my happy place. Any time I am in the Main St. area I make is a priority to stop by here. It never fails to put a HUGE smile on my face!
I could circle around the store over and over and find something new and fun each time. Cards, stationary, paper goods, amazingly gorgeous personalized invitations and cards, tons of adorable baby & kids products, drool-​worthy housewares (lots of wine and cheese stuffs!), cutesy desk/​office accessories, Lily Pulitzer sorority swag, anything Michigan pride related you could ever imagine… and OH so much more!
Every time I go in there is new merchandise (with my favorites still there, so not worries on missing anything) to catch my eye. The only bad part: I never leave here empty handed (good for my mood, bad for my bank account)!

I simply love everything in this place! Lots of adorable cards, wall hangings, bags, and so much more. If I had unlimited funds, I’d be buying everything. Alas, I am broke, and I just dream as I walk through this shop and look at the big price tags on the awesome stuff. A great place to come and buy gifts for many of the people in my life, but not somewhere I could justify spending money on myself. Or, better yet, a great pinterest-​idea place to find things I’d like to try and make myself.

OMG! To die for! I love this store and could get lost in it for hours… just come back and get me for dinner, I’ll be fine! LOL… If you are planning a wedding or decorating a room with personalizations, this is the place to get your materials! They have invitations and a whole department related to that whole thing! They have a ton of baking stuff and personalized paper along with «Detroit» and «Ann Arbor» stationary, pins, buttons etc.
I love all of the personalized or meaningful… or «close to my heart» signs and sayings, quotes and just cool «words» that you can use to put on your wall as «wall art» in your home! Absolutely cute and very cool looking! I loved browsing in there with my daughter and her boyfriend. My hubby stayed outside as it was «taste of Ann Arbor» and he loved watching the people. We didn’t mind as we were reading all of the buttons and signs and cards etc.
There is a whole section dedicated to «cabin life» and decorating one’s cabin! Theres another section for weddings and another for book lovers and yet another spot for «University of Michigan» Geeks and the just plain old «Michigan» (as in .the «state of») doo dads and thingamabobs! Lots of stickers and plaques and knick knacks you won’t find anywhere else!
This was a place a girl like me can get «lost» in for hours… OK well maybe an hour. but it’s really cool. They even have special and cool water bottles and coffee bottles! They have the newsest «fairy door» too. You’ll have to ask me about the Ann Arbor «fairy doors» as they are hiding in many of the businesses! This one is especially cool and new. I’ll snap a picture for you .asap!

Rock, Paper, Scissors is an immensely cute place. This is the kind of store that I love to walk around when I have time to kill. Every time I go in, it feels like there’s a ton of new stuff… so I don’t know if they’re constantly putting out new merchandise, or if there’s just so much that it feels like there’s always something new to see. Either way, it’s a fun experience each time.
My only sadness here are the prices. There’s a reason I come here to browse and not to buy. It’s just all so expensive! I wish this were a place I could come to actually buy things, as I’d love to support them and have their beautiful products. Maybe they should offer coupons?

This store! This store is all sorts of adorbs and I want everything in it. From the awesome signs, to the kitchen gear, the stationary and the crafty supplies. Actually, the only thing I don’t really covet is the UofM branded stuff but since I didn’t go to school there (or anywhere in Michigan for that matter) I’m not swooning over it. But I’m sure peeps who are very Wolverine proud would love it.
Anyway, this is the perfect store for gift giving. I already picked up a handful of things for family members here including a few things for my little cousin who is just shy of 5. They have some cute kid friendly goods, especially baby gifts. They actually have a pretty decent selection of stuff that’s dude friendly as well. Well, if you’re dude likes the finer things in life – wine and liquor paraphernalia, cheese boards, etc. Oh and the aforementioned Michigan pride stuff.
They carry paper goodies from the likes of Paper Source (another personal fav of mine) as well as local artists and small batch producers. And it’s all fairly reasonably priced which is also a bonus.
If you’re shopping local this season (and I hope you are!) this is definitely a spot worth peeking into!
