Ok, normally I don’t know if I would see the merit in reviewing a gas station. This time, however, I feel more like I’m just sharing info for the public good. Think of this is a PSA about a particular gas station.
«One moment please» has to be one of the more aggravating phrases in the English language. When you see or hear this phrase, you know that it will likely be quite a bit more than just «one moment» before you are able to do whatever you’re trying to do.
This is where I found myself the other day… sitting with pump in hand, staring at a blinking «one moment please» over and over. I checked the sticker on the pump again just to make sure… it said that if you were paying in cash, you needed to pre-​pay. Otherwise, there was no other signage.
I waited. And waited… for a handful of moments, and then finally popped into the station itself to ask if something was wrong with the pump.
Well, apparently unless you swipe your card at the pump, you need to pre-​pay no matter what your payment method, as the gal at the counter explained. That’s totally fine — just make the sign say that, then! She mentioned that other people had complained that the signage was misleading, and that she’d have to ask the manager about changing it. She also explained that their intercom to the pumps was broken, so she couldn’t talk to people to explain the problem, just had to wait until they came, frustrated, into the station.
She herself was very nice, but I found it pretty annoying that such a high volume gas station would not take the time to update/​change their signage and/​or get their intercom fixed (or post a sign that was out of order, too). I guess I’d expect that in a more remote area or at a more run-​down gas station, but here, it just struck me as lazy.
2 stars, because at the gal was nice, but man, the folks who are running this gas station can’t be hurting for revenue. It would just make sense to update signage and fix the darn intercom.
