Heather was my bridal consultant. She was more helpful than I could have ever imagined. I felt so comfortable with her throughout the entire process. I had so many questions about veils, sizing, boleros, belts, etc. She really listened to me and was so thorough with taking the time to show me different options. I would recommend Heather and TGS to any bride looking for a gorgeous gown and an amazing shopping experience!!!

I had the most amazing experience at The Gown Shop. Heather was so sweet and very understanding and accommodating to our large group! The set up of the store itself is beautiful and the dress inventory was amazing. I cant recommend this place enough!

I cannot say enough good things about The Gown Shop. I initially made a same day appointment when I realized that they carried the designer I was interested in on the day my fiancé and I happened to be driving through town. I spoke with Audrey who ended up helping me through the entire process. During our first call she was friendly and really helpful, she got a good sense of what I was looking for in a dress and my budget (and didn’t flinch at the fact that it was at the low end of their price range).
The space is gorgeous, lots of natural light and dresses hanging everywhere acting as ideal wedding shop décor. There are a few fitting rooms, one is a large main room for larger parties (this is where I was on my first visit) and at least two smaller rooms (one of which I used on my second visit, also lovely). All of the rooms and appointments are private, so you don’t have anyone wandering by or browsing while you’re trying things on. You try on dresses in the same room as your party, separated by a curtain so that you can still talk to them while you change (which dress do you want to see next etc.)
Working with Audrey was amazing. I couldn’t imagine a more pleasant or easier, or more fun wedding dress shopping experience. She’s really warm and personable, and — this isn’t something I would have thought about beforehand — an easy person to meet and then immediately get undressed in front of and have help you dive into wedding dresses. I went in wanting to see one specific dress and with some vague descriptions of what I wanted to look like and she pulled at least 5 other dresses that were also exactly what I was looking for. She was also really helpful when it came to narrowing down dresses, asking questions about how I felt and what I wanted to look like, that helped me figure out which dress I liked best (not at all pushy).
One thing, I was so excited when it came to buying my dress that I neglected to ask how much the shipping fee (from the shop to my house) was. It turned out to be $ 100ish, which meant it made more sense for me to pick it up myself, but they offered to give me the cost of shipping in store credit so I’m using it to buy a veil.

Loved my visits to TGS! I was warned by a couple of acquaintances who felt pressured to buy during their recent visits, but I only have wonderful things to say about my two visits and wanted to spread the word!
My first trip was my first time gown shopping and despite my inexperience and low budget, Audrey made it a fantastic experience. I only offered a couple of vague descriptions of things I liked and didn’t, and voila – Audrey came back with an armful of gorgeous options that fit my style exactly.
The appointment was very personalized and because we were the only ones in the shop, had her full attention and help getting in and out of dresses (which I later learned was not the case everywhere). Though we had a ton of fun and I did pick a favorite, my mom and I agreed we should at least try a couple other places to see what else was out there.
Audrey kept in contact by email but was not at all pushy, and I was thrilled to come back a second time to revisit my favorite dress and ultimately purchase it during an appointment with Stacy. The ladies at TGS really know what they are doing and have a lovely selection of gowns. I can’t wait to get married in mine! Thanks, Audrey and Stacy!

Stacy is absolutely amazing at what she does! From my first appointment to picking up my dress today, she has made this experience EVERYTHING that you would hope for in this once-​in-​a-​lifetime event. She has such a great aesthetic. She is a natural at listening to the vision of the bride and providing an array of options to capture exactly what you are looking for (without being pushy) :) She helped me match perfect accessories to my gown that personalized and truly took the look to another level. Speaking of which, the selection of gowns that she carries are stunning! The best that I have seen from any of the boutiques that I have shopped at previously. The customer service and personal attention that you and your party receive is phenomenal. I couldn’t be happier with my dress, my bridesmaids’ dresses, MOG’s dress and all of my accessories. She also is a fantastic resource and helped me to find a pair of shoes after I was telling her that I’ve had trouble finding exactly what I was looking for. I am so appreciative of Stacy and Audrey! I highly recommend The Gown Shop!

AUDREY IS FANTASTIC! I bought my dream wedding dress from her and although she showed me several different beautiful dresses, I knew that I had found the dress the moment I put it on. Audrey has been awesome since the very beginning. She always returns emails in a timely manner as well as phone calls and is always pleasant to deal with. I cannot recommend this place enough.
FYI to those who are used to going to crappy wedding showrooms, this is not one of them. They run a tight operation and they have a great business and a great selection. You will need to put down a credit card for your appointment and that should not be a big request as booking these hour time slots for brides and their bridal parties and parents is their business — their bread and butter if you will.
Please do not pay attention to the low ratings that some brides to be or their maids of honor or bridesmaids have posted. I read all of them and it seems that their low ratings are unfounded from what took place in those situations.
Go in here and find your dream dress. Ask for Audrey.

The Gown Shop was my best friend (J)‘s first stop looking for dresses and we were absolutely thrilled with the service and the selection. The venue is gorgeous (great lighting, lots of open space, comfortable chairs to wait in, mirrors-​mirrors-​mirrors) and set an elegant and calm tone.
I was quite impressed with how quickly Stacy (the owner) was able to get a feel for the types of dresses that J was interested in since neither of us have the vocabulary to describe fabrics, cuts, or style. Even after finding two great dress options within J’s budget, Stacy brought out other styles to provide points of comparison to make sure J was comfortable and didn’t feel like she was narrowing her vision too quickly.
Stacy was thoughtful and kind and also has a great eye with regard to potential modifications the designer could make to the dress. She was also generous enough to extend the appointment a few extra minutes so J could try on the two favorites one last time before leaving.

I recently purchased my wedding dress from The Gown Shop and felt the experience could not have been better. Stacy, the store owner, was so attentive, helpful, and patient. I had several family members and friends with me, all of which were treated with the same respect. My budget was $ 2500 and I was pleasantly surprised to find a dress for $ 1550 that looks absolutely beautiful. They have an amazing selection of designers, it was so hard to choose a dress! There honestly were several I would have been very happy to wear. Stacy recently opened another space next-​door with bridesmaid and mother of the bride dresses which is equally as beautiful and has a great selection. I plan on getting my bridesmaid dresses from here as well. I can’t wait to go back and pick-​up my dress once it comes in. I anticipate my future visits to the Gown Shop will be as wonderful as the first one. Thank you for all of your help, Stacy!

Two stars doesn’t seem quite right, but since I didn’t get beyond the phone call to make an appointment, I really can’t give more. My mom called the shop to make an appointment for me, but the owner told her that only the bride could make an appointment. Fine. So I called, already irritated by that requirement. I chose an appointment time and then was told that i needed to give a credit card in case I cancelled less than 24 hours in advance. I understand with the business model of only having one bride in the store at a time, it would be difficult to deal with missed appointments. Maybe if the owner had just sounded nicer, worded her requirements differently, I would have felt differently. I told her I was going to hold off then on making an appointment, and that I might call back. I never heard from her and I’m glad I didn’t buy my gown there.

This is a beautiful shop in downtown Ann Arbor. Décor is simple-​chic and the dressing rooms are quite spacious with the right amount of privacy for the bride and friends. There seems to be a large selection of dresses here as well.
Unfortunately, no walk-​ins here. You need to make an appointment and at the time of booking your appointment, you have to provide your credit card number. If you don’t cancel within 48 hours, you’ll be charged $ 50. 48 hours seems a bit excessive, seeing that a lot of elective doctors offices only require a 24-​hour cancellation…
The person we worked with was quite rude. She was dismissive of bridesmaid’s opinions. I can appreciate that it’s all about the bride, but obviously, when a bride brings one friend (as opposed to several), this one person is someone whose opinion that the bride values… The rep also didn’t quite seem to get what the bride wanted. For every 5 dresses she pulled, we sent 4 back because they were so far from what we were describing.
I was a bride– I found my dress elsewhere. When I went back with my friend who was the bride, she also found her dress elsewhere.

I really loved the Gown Shop, as well as Stacy (the owner).
I went to the Gown Shop after trying on a few dresses at David’s Bridal. The two places could not be any more different. The Gown Shop’s physical store is breathtaking – tall ceilings in an expansive room lined with delicate dresses… and the entire place to yourself.
I met with Stacy for about an hour. In that time I tried on a large handful of dresses and found a few that I was curious about. Stacy was thoughtful about selecting dresses given my requests, and was very kind about helping me into them.
Throughout, I felt really encouraged and happy. I didn’t get to try on a dress in my desired style, but I did get to try on dresses that opened my mind to what might work for me. I continued to email with Stacy about her borrowing a few sample dresses specifically for me to try on. I only stopped in that process because I found a dress elsewhere (Bombshell Bridal), but was nonetheless amazed at the customer service here.
The dresses here are by a select set of designers. They’re all a little higher end [than what you’d find at David’s Bridal, at least], but despite the larger price tag, the good news is that each dress is made by the designer specifically for the recipient, so they are fully tailored and customizable as you buy them. Don’t like the slit down the leg? Your dress won’t have it. Want a higher back? You got it. Don’t want a bubble hemline? No bubble hemline for you.
The only reason I’m giving the Gown Shop four stars instead of five is that they didn’t have dresses in sample sizes above 12, I believe. So that’s the equivalent of an 8 or 10 in everyday clothing? I am bigger than that, though not terribly so, and as such was limited to trying on a few specific dresses, and then to having them half-​tried-​on. I was able to get an idea of how each dress looked (an open back – as I could not zip/​button it up – was clipped to my bra so the front looked as normal as possible), but it’s not the same as really being in a dress. I think if the Gown Shop carried some samples in bigger sizes, it would be unstoppable. Their attitude, the experience of trying on dresses here, and the gorgeous dresses they have… it would all come together so well.
I left my appointment feeling so warm and excited. If nothing else, that’s a great thing.

Dress shopping was such a fun experience at The Gown Shop! Stacy has great taste and begins the appointment by walking you through her designers. Her selection is perfect — not an overwhelming number of dresses to dig through but plenty of variety for you to find something you will love. I am not super girly and basically hate trying things on but Stacy made it fun and encouraged me to try on one of each shape to find the type of dress that fit me best. She made the experience comfortable and relaxed. Having the shop to yourself is amazing. You’re not rushed and get individual attention which is such an advantage over other bridal shops. By the time you leave, you feel like Stacy is an old friend. Stacy’s customer service is outstanding and she really makes you feel like her only bride. She responds to emails right away and added several thoughtful touches to the dress buying experience. Spending time in her beautiful shop was my favorite part of wedding planning and I can’t wait for my sister to get engaged so we can visit Stacy again!

I genuinely don’t give many 5-​star reviews, but my experience with The Gown Shop could not have been any better. They were so kind and patient with me! I noticed them while walking down the street and learned they had a Lulakate trunk show coming up, which I decided to check out. I fell in love with two dresses that were completely different, and they indulged me trying them on several times. I am not a decide on the spot kind of girl, so I went home that night without a dress but with an appointment to go back the next day. The next morning I still felt scared to make a decision but wanted to see the Lulakate dress on one more time before it was gone with the trunk show. I went back and forth, calling to cancel the appointment and then rescheduling less than an hour later. They reassured me it was fine to come in to see the dress again even if I wasn’t ready to make a purchase. Such ridiculous behavior on my part, but deciding on a wedding dress was a daunting thing for me. I did eventually end up deciding on that dress!
The one on one attention is such an exceptional idea. No distractions from other brides, no waiting for dresses because somebody else has it on; it was an intimate experience that virtually eliminated the prospect of being overwhelmed. The dressing area is also the stage area, with a spacious sitting area set up in front that was able to comfortably accommodate my entourage (which included a sister with a painful broken back!).
Finally, after I had ordered my dress they called to ask me to come in one more time because the gown company was sending a sample for me to try on close to my own size. They were concerned about my measurements and wanted to make sure the accommodations we were planning on making to fit my very large bust would be sufficient. Of course, the wonderful ladies at the Gown Shop were happy to have me back yet again, take more measurements, and indulge my slightly extended swirling in the dress. That is truly fabulous customer service on both ends!

We had a one-​hour appointment to look at gowns. After a brief discussion about what the bride wanted and pointing out locations of dresses she might like, the bride looked around and picked some dresses. The other ladies weren’t really encourage to pick dresses.
I really liked that the changing room was also the display stage. It helped that you could talk to the bride while she was in there and it made changing a lot faster.
However, it felt really, really rushed. This place can only accommodate one group at a time, so we were very rushed and the sales were really pushed. Maybe some people can spend $ 5k on a dress without having a lot of time to think about it, but we’re not one of them. It was like some reality show. The last dress, that the bride really liked, still had some issues. The sales lady said the company could change all those things, but still seemed to be pressuring us into a purchase, and so we would’ve been buying a dress we had no idea what it would look like. She also didn’t suggest veils or anything to help her look more «bridal».
There was an entire rack of dresses that the consultant didn’t even discuss. Maybe they were our of our price range or maybe they were already purchased or something, but at least say something about it.
On a side note, there seemed to be cookies in the back (though we weren’t allowed to bring food or drinks). I think a vendor was trying to show off their wares. This would’ve been fine, had their been a sign like «take one!» or something. Poor vendor if that was the case. Otherwise it was strange to have food out that was either inedible or forbidden to eat.
Would not go back. Not a pleasant experience.

My appointment at The Gown Shop was everything I wanted a bridal appointment to be.
First off, having the shop entirely to myself was wonderful. After coming from another appointment where I practically had to share mirrors, it was amazing to be able to browse, try on, and «model» for my family without anyone else there, and with the full attention of Stacy, the owner.
On that note, Stacy was wonderful. She was helpful as much as I wanted, while still allowing my family and I to comment on gowns. She had accessories when I wanted them, but wasn’t pushy at all.
Finally, the gown selection was fantastic. I went there for the Ivy & Aster gowns, and she had more than usual due to a trunk show. I tried on several gowns, all Ivy & Aster, and every one was beautiful. My favorites were the Je T’Aime, and Sweet Pea. After my appointment, Stacy sent me a follow up email with pictures of my dresses, and then continued to follow up with my as I thought about gowns.
While I did not end up purchasing from The Gown Shop (I found another dress I liked more somewhere else), I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and would not hesitate to send any of my friends who are dress shopping to Stacy.

The Gown Shop’s owner Stacy is fantastic to work with! She was not at all pushy, yet gave me her full attention. Unlike some larger bridal shops I tried, she was completely focused on me and finding my perfect dress. Her shop is also adorable– it feels like a large dressing room, and is styled lovely. Her selection is relatively small, but each dress seems carefully selected, exclusive, and unique. The price range is a bit high ($ 2,000+) but she does offer several sample gowns for sale (~$ 1,000). All in all I did purchase my dress here and would definitely recommend it to others.

I went to The Gown Shop a couple months ago for a trunk show. It was my first time dress shopping for myself, although I had been here previously with a friend.
The Gown Shop is truly an amazing place if you want to feel special. You have the whole beautiful loft full of gorgeous dresses and the owner Stacy all to yourself. As I have been to a few bridal gown shops now, I can say this is a unique experience. Stacy is so friendly and makes you feel comfortable in a potentially high stress experience.
The dresses here are really so beautiful. TGS carries gowns that other bridal salons in Michigan do not carry. This also means that they can be fairly expensive, but that is because they are very high quality and of great design. Unfortunately for me, I was so excited for the trunk show that weekend that I went without knowing my venue or even what my true gown budget was. And instead of falling for a dress from the trunk show I fell in love with an Amy Kuschel gown. However, I was not ready to commit and Stacy put absolutely no pressure on me to purchase the gown (which ended up not being right for my venue).
While TGS does carry some dresses under $ 2000, it would be best if your budget is (well) over that if you want to try on the really beautiful gowns. In any case, I had a fantastic time here and I’m so glad for the experience, and would definitely recommend this shop if you’re looking for wedding gowns.

There are always three sides to every story: (1) your version; (2) my version; and (3) and the truth. And whether you like it or not, I am entitled to tell the public about my experience at «The Gown Shop.» That being said, your public antagonistic response to my Unilocal review with arrogant and ostentatious undertones only proves my original sentiments about your business to be valid.
P. S. Do you have telepathy? Because it is unclear how you KNOW that I simply didn’t show up to my appointment since you chose not to answer the phone when I tried to call to talk to you about the matter? And whether the reason that I didn’t make it to my appointment was justified or not (in your mind), as the business owner, you should have dealt with that situation (and this one) with more TACT!
