The Quarter Bistro & Tavern

I really wanted to like The Quarter but they wouldn’t let me. The first mistake they made was mixing up my drink order with another guest. After that I waited an unreasonable amount of time for my soup which was entirely too salty. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it was served to me medium well. The only saving grace was that it was a good cut of meat with good flavor regardless of it being over cooked.

The first thing you notice as you walk through the door of the Quarter Bistro is the quiet, subdued ambiance. This calmness is in sharp contrast to the bustle of the confluence of Stadium, Maple and Jackson and the always-​busy Westgate Shopping Plaza just outside.
Once inside, we were greeted with a smile and our request for a private booth was quickly and happily accommodated.
The Bistro’s menu had a diverse selection of beef, lamb, chicken, fish, seafood, pasta and a unique selection of its namesake New Orleans fare.
My wife opted for the Bistro Turkey Grill made with smoked turkey, ripe avocado, sliced red onion, mayo and mozzarella cheese on grilled sourdough. It has become one of her favorites for the tasty and unique turkey-​avocado combo.
I enjoyed the Steak Fettuccini which incorporated a nice combo of wild mushrooms and toasted walnuts in Gorgonzola cream topped with tenderloin steak and crispy fried onions. At 25 bills, I thought it was a competitive offering given the excellent cut of tenderloin.
Ambience — 5, service — 5, food — 4 for an overall 4.5 stars. The Quarter Bistro offers a nice alternative to dining downtown in Tree City.

We had the mussels as an appetizer. They were delicious with the creamy sauce, but they may have been a little overcooked. Dipping the bread in the mussel sauce was an extra tasty bonus!
For entrees, the baby back bbq ribs were hefty. The sauce was sharp and tangy. The portion size for the sides was large enough to share unless you’re looking to have a) someone roll you to the car or b) a last meal before you go hibernate for 3 months.
The steak and fettuccine was just ok. They cooked my steak correctly. The fettucine needed more flavor.
I would have given 3 stars but my significant other said 4. The rule is she is always right, so 4 stars it is.

With Knights and the Roadhouse so close by, it’s mind boggling that people still eat at the Quarter bistro. Nearby restaurants probably have better versions of every item on the Quarter’s menu. In the 1990s maybe this place would have been good, but Ann Arbor is now filled with better restaurants that serve better food and are under better management. I would not accept restaurant recommendations from someone who still goes to this restaurant.
My soup was served 15 minutes after the other soups at my table, and I did not have the opportunity during those 15 minutes to find the waiter and tell him not to bother with my forgotten soup. I saw on the menu a beer with an unusually high ABV for its style and ordered it because I was curious. When I received the bottle, I saw the beer did not have an unusually high ABV but had been mislabeled on the menu. I told the waiter that they had mislabeled this beer, and I saw the waiter pass my complaint on to the manager. The manager had a good chuckle with the waiter and walked away. I was offended that the manager would laugh at my expense but not apologize for his menu’s mistake. I didn’t bother to dispute the charges for the soup or the beer even though it’s hard to imagine many restaurants in town billing me for their mistakes. With so many better restaurants in the area, I can’t think of any reason to eat here.

We are regulars. Good, consistent family friendly place to dine. Love the bread and hummus. Q. Bistro salad with portobello, steak or blackened chicken is a staple. Kids like the angus burger and ribs. Good root beer. Generally have tables available at dinner time and accept reservations on busy nights. Waitstaff is pleasant and attentive

The westside Ann Arbor place to go for after work happy hour. Discounted beer and wine; delicious $ 5 appetizers; and a very friendly, Cheers-​like atmosphere. A pleasant time is guaranteed for all.

For a late lunch we had the Butternut Squash Ravioli (very good but not as good as at the Common Grill in Chelsea), the Bistro Tilapia (very good) and the Salmon BLT (excellent). The service was NOT very attentive. We had to chase her down to get drinks and the check and the place was pretty empty.

Very nice restaurant with a comfortable atmosphere. Food was great and priced right.
Try the alligator voodoo it was fabulous!

A friend once called the Quarter a «Pricy Cajun Bennigans». I had hoped for better, but that pretty much sums it up.
We waited about 30 minutes, at 8pm on a Tuesday. The hostess was very kind, and our waitress was fine. Not great, but not bad.
The food was quite nearly ok. For instance, the vegetarian ravioli themselves tasted great, but the Alfredo sauce was just too much, too creamy, too sweet. So by the end, it was a battle. My fiancée had the same feeling about the Cajun Creole («I’m not sure what these bits of seafood even are, but they’re ok.»). The same was true of appetizers and dessert: not quite «bad», but definitely not good.
This is acceptable for a $ 12 plate, but when the bill hits $ 60 for two people with no drinks, it’s a recipe for disappointment. We walked out wishing we’d gone elsewhere, and knowing we’d never be coming back.
So, save yourself plenty of quarters by skipping this one. You’ll be happy you did.

Made reservations after seeing on their website they would offer duck for thanksgiving. My father and I were very excited. However, that excitement soon turned to disappointment after we arrived and learned that they were not offering duck. I mentioned the the waitress that we made our reservations based on this information. She quickly sent over the manager that had the audacity to accuse me of lying and asking me to see the ad. I quickly showed him the screen shots I took and sent to my father a few weeks back. I was shocked that this was management’s response to a customer inquiry.
Since it was Thanksgiving day and we weren’t sure if we would find another restaurant, we decided to make the best of the situation. Unfortunately the turkey dinner was served cold and the taste was extremely underwhelming. We will never frequent this «restaurant» again.

Lunch after Black Friday shopping… The place is warm and inviting. The menu is limited but everything’s been quite tasty! We the alligator and love the French onion soup… It was nice and hot and a cheese wasn’t quite so good that it took an amazing amount of effort to get the bite onto your spoon.
Yes, you can order the Farmfolly carbonara without peas :-)
The potato pancakes are a different style than the traditional breakfast… More curry and with beans. They are tasty, but you have to get your head out of the German style.
The farfalle carbonara is very good and has a nice sprinkling of Parmesan cheese on top.
Overall, a good choice!

The QB is a quality restaurant with a great happy hour, free bread and hummus and friendly staff. The booth tables in the bar area can be a little slow for service sometimes, but nothing to horrible.
The mussles are absolutly delicious… the sauce is a creamy base and its evenbetter to dip the bread theu gove you in it.
The shrimp cakes were not my favorite. That was the only thing I have eaten there that I wasnt over the moon about.

This review is strictly for their brunch that is on Sundays. They have a full room for a brunch items that cost only $ 21 and you have the option to get mimosas and bloody Mary’s unlimited for $ 10 extra. The food was delicious, some of the brunch items could’ve been jazzed up a little bit. But there pancake tower is a must try! Also they have an omelette station and a roast beef corner. their premade salads were also delicious had just enough lemon zest to make it taste excellent.

Place was very nice. Was clean and food was great. Very friendly people from the greetings to the bar and dinning room staff. Will eat here again.

The 1 star is for the good service and the fact that edible food came out of the kitchen with decent timing.
But the food itself was very lackluster, to be nice. We tried their happy hour to get a taste of what the food/​menu may be like and I was glad we didn’t come for an actual meal. Their seafood happy hour offerings were just so disappointing. Our server noted that the jambalaya on the happy hour menu is exactly what they serve for dinner but a smaller portion, and I couldn’t eat more than a couple bites. It was watery, spiced but not balanced at all– the cajun seasoning were there, but a huge lack of salt, so it was a bland spiced mess.
Their calamari might have been the most tolerable. The mussels might have been tolerable if I hadn’t crunched into a THIRD uncleaned mussel, and I just had to send it back. We had 3 or 4 more apps off the menu and all I could do was take a taster bite then stare at it until they took it away.
I did mention the mussels to our server, at the very least, and she mentioned that a manager would stop by to check on us, which never happened. Then she forgot to take it off the bill (I do believe it was an honest mistake but it just didn’t help the whole experience) but promptly did when I pointed it out.
I don’t mean to insult the establishment, but honestly I couldn’t find much redeeming about the food whatsoever. The bar area interior was nice/​enjoyable, very unfortunate.

We dined here on a Sunday after church. We purchased the brunch.
There was no waited. We were seated immediately brought water and told our server will be over soon. He came and introduced himself. He was very polite, instructed us to area for brunch and brought over our first of unlimited mismosa.
The spread for the brunch was great! Peel and eat shrimp, oysters, prime rib, omelette station and a assortment of pastries and sides exceed my expectations for this brunch.
My husband and I enjoyed it all! We will make the drive again to enjoy the good food and service.
I would have liked them to have some background music playing. A little Jazz to accompany the ambience would have been really nice.
Also the prime rib was delicious but cold.
I suggest giving this place a try!

Dined here for restaurant week with some of my co-​workers for lunch. The dining room had a nice, open layout, and even had a glass walled private room– very pretty! Unfortunately, there was an odd number of us dining, so I could not participate in restaurant week.
The bread and hummus that was served on the table was excellent! The hummus did not have a garlic-​y aftertaste that you acquire with most hummus and I was very impressed. I ordered the french dip sandwich from the specials menu, while my coworkers ordered the baked eggplant parmesan and the jambalaya.
The french dip was okay, nothing phenomenal. It was a bit dry and plain, I wish there was a little more cajun inspiration in the sandwich. On a different note, the eggplant parmesan was excellent! The eggplant was cooked through and not dry at all, which is very difficult to do. The jambalaya was great as well. It was not very spicy, and it was filled with meats instead of it just being a bowl of rice.
Our server was attentive, however her below shoulder length hair was not pulled back. Also, while washing my hands in the ladies room a staff member was fixing her hair and neglected to wash her hands before exiting. Not entirely the the most appetizing sight.
Overall, the experience was good, however it is nothing I would go out of my way for.

We planned our brunch visit for a leisurely Sunday, with champagne .05 refills. Forgot it is restaurant week. $ 15 brunch but if you want the champagne included, it jumped to $ 23, which is outrageous, comparatively. Food was better today, however service was slow. Great family place for Sunday brunch.

Agree with a lot of what has been said here, would not call this a Cajun type of place. There is a huge garlic clove on top of the building but no real garlicky type of items to choose from.
It also took forever to get our entrees and not sure why that was the case as this place was not that busy.
Someone mentioned strong drinks but I had an old fashioned made with their house bourbon (Jim Beam) and it was not very strong, guessing they put some tonic in it, which and old fashioned should not have.
Zingerman’s Roadhouse is almost right next door, go there instead.

It was not my choice to eat here, and as soon as I saw the exterior of the building, I knew what I was getting myself into. The Quarter is basically a dressed-​up cajun Applebees. If you often find yourself dining in establishments nestled in the corner of a strip mall parking lot (Chili’s, On the Border…) then you will probably be happy here. That’s not really my scene, though.
One thing that is true about The Quarter is that there is something for everybody on the menu. Whether you’re gluten free or vegan or only eat hamburgers or whatever, there’s something that you can eat here. It might not be that good, but nobody will go hungry. I ordered the Niçcoise Salade and found it to be edible, I guess. It was very bland, but it was not gross. To the kitchen’s credit, the tuna was cooked rare, as I requested, which I did not expect. I also had a cup of gumbo which was also edible, but forgettable. My fellow diners all felt the same about our meals; nothing was terrible, but nothing was really good either. Though our waitress was very sweet and friendly, she made a lot of little mistakes and had to be reminded repeatedly to bring the drinks or sides that she had forgotten.
I recommend The Quarter for those who have extremely unadventurous palates, or are exceptionally picky, or perhaps the elderly, since the food is severely lacking in salt. If I was forced to eat here again, I would order dessert for my meal, since the examples in the display case at least looked like they’d taste good.
