Would recommend! I’ve only been here once and I had a great experience. The cardamom rose latte with vegan milk was great! Not too sweet and good flavor balance. They have homemade chips and are a great inexpensive snack while drinking coffee:) cozy atmosphere!

Amazing food! The quiche was cooked perfectly and the bread pudding was fantastic. Everything tastes great. My fiancé had an omelette and loved it. The price/portion ratio is spot on. We will definitely dine here again.

It’s name is just as cute as it is, The Songbird Café. I’m fortunate enough to live very close to this little gem, in all of its woodsy, and warm goodness, but hardly feel like I have enough time or was productive enough to warrant such a delightful treat. I go anyway, but not without a tad bit o’ guilt. When I first went in, sometime ago, I noticed it was quite the sandwich spot, the menu filled with innovative creations between two slices of a variety of breads. Life has changed since I last went in, and bread I can longer do, so it kept me away for awhile. Upon having some extra time to see a dear friend of mine, I decided to give it ago. Maybe things had changed, maybe I missed something and indeed I did. As we sat down and chatted, she told me — of course, they have gluten free wraps for every sandwich — and then I felt a range of emotions that ended in happiness, because this meant I could still enjoy this lovely place for more than just the tea/coffee(the café con miel is amazing). I happily went up to the register, excited about all the sandwiches I could be privy to with just an extra $ 0.75. I decided on the Chipotle Turkey Club which was a delicious combination of standard«club» items including Oven Roasted Turkey, Bacon, Housemade Lettuce & Tomato, with an extra kick with the chipotle mayo riddled instead on a gluten free wrap, all accompanied by some delicious, mass production worthy thick-cut potato chips and a ginger tea, because I couldn’t resist. Uninterrupted and filled with the sounds of my adolescence(Jack’s Mannequin and Phoenix), I enjoyed my meal and my friend happily munched away at her Kogi Hoagi with Tofu filled with veggies, Sweet & Spicy Hot Sauce, Deep Fried Garlic Flakes on an Artisan Roll. It was a lovely evening, and not too packed on a brisk Winter Wednesday evening. I’m so happy I returned and will again, very soon. Note: They also have gluten-free baked goods on the register. I got all three that were available. Wasn’t a fan of the pumpkin, but my partner-in-crime stole my raspberry treat(which is always a good sign) and I’ve yet to eat the CC cookie, and I have faith that it’s gonna be good!

One of my favorite coffee shops in Ann Arbor! My boyfriend and I quickly became regulars there and got to know the employees, all of whom are very sweet and helpful. They have a good coffee/tea selection, breakfast, brunch, and lunch food items, and a wide variety of baked goods. They’re gluten-free friendly. They offer gluten-free wraps(75 cents extra) for all of their sandwiches, and they have lots of gluten-free and vegan baked goods options. Our favorite is the gluten-free chocolate chip cookie. A huge cookie for $ 2! Not many breakfast options for gluten-free eaters though. My favorite drink used to be the seasonal pumpkin latte or the green tea latte. Now, I stick to teas which are great too. There’s lots of parking spaces since it’s located in a strip mall, outside of downtown. We usually sit at the countertop in the front because there’s lots of sunlight and it seems to be bit quieter. Their second location on Jackson is also very nice — much smaller, but it has the same vibe. As far as I remember, they offer the same menu.

Absolutely loved the fig vanilla latte and gets 5 stars/5 from me! The sausage omelet that I ordered was pretty good but could use a little more flavor compared to the other options available around this town. 4⁄5 The ambience is great and staff here see very friendly so no complaints there. 5⁄5 The location is great and they have ample parking too This is my second visit here and I imagine I’d be coming here more often

Love it! Classy, high quality food. Great for a quick lunch. I wish they had some more options besides sandwhiches and breakfast.

Exceptionally beautiful coffees, incredibly fresh and divine food, and the ever-friendly staff make this place my absolute favourite café in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. Every time I come here I am completely blown away by their beautiful lattes and food presentation. My favourite sand which here is the 3 grilled cheese with apple butter. Seriously incredible. The atmosphere is amazing as well, but if you’ve ever been here you already know. If you haven’t– go! Songbird is amazing.

Pretty good basic breakfast with tasty home potatoes and excellent toast bread. Also, the drip coffee wasnt bad. I wasn’t to hot on the bacon that tasted warmed over from the day before, but all in all the breakfast was solid.

Loved the Lavendar Latte though I was a bit ambitious when I coupled it with the caprese. Serving size is generous(or at least ample if you eat more than I do). Even the small was plenty! Recommend making that professional connection here; tasteful enough to reflect favorably on your sense of sophistication yet informal enough to feel comfortable. Not fancy but no need to be either!

Their Cardamom Rose Latte(coffee) is awesome !! 5-star for innovative lattes. The sandwiches have a more European feel and the produce used seems really fresh. I loved the Caprese, and they have some really interesting fusion dishes(like korean style spicy pork in a soft taco). it looks nondescript from the outside, but the insides are really spacious and nice… a good place to take someone out for coffee or work.

The Songbird has quite a rep with the North Campus crowd on this side of Ann Arbor. It’s one of those places you know is for real as soon as you see the 4.5 Unilocal rating after more than a hundred and fifty reviews. Walking in the door for the first time, I was surprised to find an order-at-the-counter system that reminded me of a Panera Bread. The place was loaded with customers, many of which were students riveted to their laptops utilizing the Wi-Fi. We ordered one of their special 3-egg omelets-of-the-day with sausage, onions, green peppers, goat cheese and topped with avocado. It was«right there» and was served with a generous portion of well seasoned and very flavorful red-skins. Also wanting to sample a sandwich from the Bird, we ordered their Grilled Cheese Trio. A few years ago, grilled cheeses became wildly popular again and the Bird’s is no exception. This is not the grilled cheese your mother used to make… it mingled cheddar, smoked Gouda and provolone in a warm and gooey concoction with a thick slice of tomato and a touch of sweet apple butter on grilled Italian. What a fantastic sandwich… a great convergence of flavors. Highly recommended. The Songbird certainly lived up to its notoriety as an Ann Arbor winner. If they had only had someone going around with coffee warm-ups and top-offs, it would have earned five stars.

Personally, I’m not a fan of coffee shops or cafes but I decided to check this place out for a weekend lunch. Definitely will be back to try more of their food or if I am looking for a nice spot to read or get some work done. The Songbird Café offers the services of a Panera with better ingredients and more personal attention. Their food is delicious, fresh, and oftentimes adventurous in the flavors and combinations. Their drinks are a lot stronger and oftentimes less sweet(ginger tea is extra ginger-y and green tea latte is extra matcha-y) but that’s what you get when things are prepared fresh and with high quality ingredients. Unfortunately, with better ingredients comes higher costs — their drinks are typically $ 1 – 2 more expensive than other cafes. However, the presentation, customer service, and tastes earn this 5 stars in my book.

Unexpected, tasty selections. Shared a pistachio turkey, prosciutto mozzarella, and berry jasmine soda. Would recommend the prosciutto mozzarella. Pricey place. Great interior and lots of space. Clean.

We tried to eat lunch here twice and they didn’t have any open seats either time. Finally, on our third try we came for a late lunch(1:30) and they had some open seating. I had the Pistachio Turkey sandwich which also comes with goat cheese, fig preserves, and apple slices. My husband had the smoked salmon sandwich with cucumber and feta. The sandwiches were pretty good but they both had too much protein which threw off the balance of ingredients: the turkey was dry and there was too much smoked salmon and big chunks of cucumber in the other sandwich. Sometimes less is more. Our two sandwiches plus an iced tea and diet coke cost $ 23 plus 15% tip. When you order and pay at the counter they shove a tablet in your face with tip amounts beginning at 15%.

Located in a strip mall, Songbird is a nice hidden gem in a place where you wouldn’t expect to find such a cute coffee shop. Being an out-of-towner from San Francisco, I have fairly high coffee standards and I was impressed by Songbird. What really drew me here was the fact that they had some unique sounding lattes(Rosemary sea salt, cardamom rose) which I could not wait to try. I came two days in a row so had a chance to try both the rosemary and cardamom lattes. The rosemary was good but it didn’t contain as much sea salt flavor as I was hoping for. I also got the breakfast sandwich with sausage and provolone the first day, which again was good but didn’t blow me away. Day 2 — I tried the cardamom rose latte and this was what sealed the deal for me. I loved how the flavors complemented the bitterness of the espresso, making the latte not sweet at all. If you don’t like cardamom or aren’t sure what it is, I may advise you to stay away from it because it is strong on the cardamom. I also tried the green tea muffin topped with candied ginger and chopped pecans, which was the best muffin I’ve had so far. The green tea flavor is present without being over powering and the ginger and pecans were definitely a nice balance.

Delicious! Staff is friendly and the food is great. I always order the caramel latte and it never fails to disappoint. I love the beef barley and the olive oil drizzled bread that comes with it is quite good! The prosciutto mozzarella sandwich and mushroom, spinach, and goat cheese omelette are tasty and satisfying. The ambience is quiet relaxing and cosy as well. Enjoyable place.

What a cool little spot! Met a few friends here for brunch and catching up. The menu is diverse enough and the lattes are unique(rosemary sea salt latte? Yes please!). I got the prosciutto pesto breakfast sandwich and it comes with delicious potatoes. I would be intrigued to try lunch next time, as everything sounded amazing. The line to order was pretty long and I had to jump back in to order a latte after I decided I want one so I guess that’s my one hint. if you are wondering if you should get a latte… just do it. You will like it alatte.(Lol get it?)

Whoa, what happened to Flim Flam? It turned into Songbird, a much hipper restaurant! Songbird seems like a good place to study or have a casual business meeting. The atmosphere seemed quiet and soothing. Menu on the blackboard, order at the register, get napkins etc. at the little station, then choose where you want to hang out in this Pinterest-worthy setting. I liked the tabletops made with scavenged wood bits. Maybe there were a few crumbs in the cracks, but I thought those tables were cool otherwise. You can sit out on the sidewalk if you like. Hubby and I split a turkey club sandwich with thick, juicy turkey slices, perfectly crisp bacon, lettuce and panini marks on the outside. It hit the spot and we hit the road. I’ll remember them when I need to refuel near north campus in A2. «Like Panera, but with better food.»
