University Towers

Don’t even think of renting here. My son lived here and they had floods twice in 2013. Never once did they offer to rebate me rent and he had to vacate for three days because they had to replace the ceiling and run 4 fans 24 hours to dry it out. When he moved out they kept my security deposit for 60 days even though the person who inspected the apt said it was the best he had ever seen. BTW know that if you don’t get your deposit back in 30 days you can sue in small claims court for double. Run fast as you can way from this place.

Although the utility is kind of dated, but at least they are trying to make it better. I like the gym and the faculty there reacted quickly when I encountered with a problem

This building is old, janky, fire alarm goes off many many times. Even when there is nothing wrong. Being someone who lives on the 17^th floor, quite annoying. You learn to just ignore it. Sometimes heater just turns off in middle of night. There’s thermostat in the apartment, but it doesn’t work. More of a fake display than adjusts the temperature.

Have very weird people living here… mix of poor kids who didn’t know better, including myself, and randoms that just invite more randoms to drink, smoke, etc. cause noise and problems for others.
Things just break down and wear down quickly here. Everything seems pre-​1970s.
I’m happy my lease is ending this month, I would not recommend this place to anyone ever. ever. ever.
Ive also heard rumors that they attempt to take your security deposits at the end of lease for repair, and services to the apartment. But it’s illegal to do that unless you as a tenant have specifically damaged anything. So, I’m pretty sure I will catch them on that one.
Overall, just don’t even go through the trouble and look at this place. The Website and descriptions are VERY deceiving. But based on the past reviews, it’s consistent that this place is a poor choice for living.

P. S. Avoid living here unless you absolutely run out of choices. I hear so many bad things… no water pressure, no hot water, no heat in the winter, bad insulation, leaky roofs, dirty bathrooms, dysfunction elevators, etc etc.

I used to hang out here all the time because one of my closest friends resided here and worked here. Let me just say this: Run as fast as you can. It is in poor condition and most importantly the elevator is not up to code. In fact, they had a problem with a serial pooper who would take poops in the elevator and leave it there.
I gave it an extra star because they have a flat screen in the lobby where the staff will sit and watch a movie and some of the tenants are invited to join. That’s about the only thing this place has going for it.
If it’s between your place, or the place of the person who lives in this building, pick your place to hang out. Trust me.

God U-​towers was such a shit-​hole when we lived here Sophomore year. I lived on the 19^th, friends lived on the 14^th and 9^th floors.
The place was a dump, the swimming pool looked disgusting and we never went in.
My water pressure for my shower on the 19^th floor was like a baby taking a tinkle on me, I sometimes went down to my friends’ place on the 14^th to shower.
Oh and it SMELLS, the garbage is a problem. Sometimes it leaks when they take it out and drag it into the elevators to take down, OH GOD SO NASTY.
I remember once someone smeared fecal matter on the walls of the elevator.
SO DISGUSTING.
Great location though! Living 19^th floor penthouse style is cool but not worth it, I prefer lower floors in high-​rises as a result of U-​towers.
Did I mention the power-​failure and having to walk 19 flights up and down and no AC in the summer with heat rising to the top?
