Auntie Te’s

I’ve been inside a few times, but never walked out with anything. This last time I walked in, I wasn’t greeted with any kind of salutation let alone a glance. I found that super rude. Someone was behind the counter assisting another customer who was checking out but having worked in retail, I know acknowledgment of ANY and all customers is a must! It seemed like she was purposely trying to ignore my presence in the store, I didn’t get any of those racial prejudice vibes but it was definitely unhelpful and frustrating. Having worked in a consignment store in Georgetown I know the work can be busy, fast paced and tedious, but that is NO excuse for the way they were behaving in the store.
Now the clothes, I mean nothing terrible, one rack of «designer» not a great selection, mainly St. John knits some very beautiful, one Gucci dress, some Escada items, one Theory piece. So it mainly seemed like the ’90’s era of designers and there was no marker for high, better or bridge designers. The Theory was with Gucci and St. John and the Joie was near Escada. The remainder of the store was cool, stuffed to the max which is always cool to look through, but the energy was not fun in the store so I just decided to leave. I’ll try and return because maybe it was an off day for the employees and hopefully the review will be better. Until then, a lonely two stars all because of the customer service, or lack of.

Just found this place today! Got me in the door with a groupon deal but it won’t be the last time i visit. Lots of good stuff at fair prices in pristine condition. It seems like alot of the consignment stores in the area specialize in very high end clothing, but this has a nice variety of quality brands and some higher end designer stuff. lots of chicos, ann taylor, calvin klein. A locked case of coach and michael kors handbags. Clothing is 25% off after 30 days but the tags on most of my items indicated that they were only in the store for a few days. It was noon on a weekeday and the place had plenty of shoppers. I’m sure this place has alot of inventory turnover. A customer asked about a consignment appointment and the owner said the appointments were all taken for the fall. Left with a bag of bargains, can’t wait to go back!

I’ve had great luck here. They always have modern clothes in good condition at fair prices. I’ve purchased a couple of Re finished pieces of furniture here, too. You can’t beat their fairly regular half off parties. I stopped by today and regretted that I had already eaten since they had a full buffet lunch out (including sangria) for everyone to enjoy as part of their 50% off summer party. Everything is well organized – shopping here much better than thrift store «treasure hunting» but with similar bargain potential!

I walked out of the store being shocked, frustrated, sad and disappointed. I wanted to like this place, I wanted to love it but I won’t ever be coming back here again. I go to consignment stores/​thrifting on the regular so I know what to expect. What I did not expect was the WORST customer service I’ve ever received anywhere. I’m not exaggerating. And after reading other reviews I don’t understand why it was so awful for me. The biggest problem I had (other than I thought the items were a bit overpriced but still had some nice things, I even bought an Ann Taylor cardigan for $ 12) was that the woman working in the store was awful!
In the bag section of the store I see a few designer purses, I’m intrigued. I look at their prices they’re not too bad. I keep looking. I see a Fendi bag. Now this bag is in «okay» condition. Not great, not even good, just okay. It shows considerable wear but it is Fendi and it’s $ 180 (which I’m kind of willing to spend).
I turn to the woman working and ask is this bag authentic because I just want to make sure. She just stares at me. She doesn’t speak a single word. I thought she didn’t hear me so I say «I mean do you know if it is a real Fendi?»
This time she looks at me disgusted (no idea why) and says «Well I CANT tell you that!»
Um excuse me? What? I’m so confused at this point. She continues «It’s against the law if I tell someone if its authentic or not.»
Again WHAT? That makes absolutely no sense. Still trying to figure out what’s going on here I say «I just don’t want to spend $ 180 if it’s not authentic that’s all.»
She responds, «Well from the price you should be able to tell if it’s authentic or not.»
Again, this makes no sense because I am very familiar with the price of a Fendi (I have one) but this one is only in okay condition so I assume the price matches a real Fendi. But clearly the way this convo was going I realize it is not real. Which makes me think why is this store selling a FAKE used Fendi for $ 180?! Talk about overpriced. I also did not appreciate that she tried to make me feel uneducated about designer purses. I especially don’t appreciate someone trying to sell a FAKE purse under the disguise of possibly being real.
I’ll never come back here. And I’ve already told other friends to stay away. Awful.

I have consigned here a couple of times with decent results. Most recently, I had called to find out how much money I had made. I asked the gentleman on the phone when I needed to pick it up and was told «not to worry I could pick it up anytime» Since I was told, it did not matter I showed up months later. I was then told by staff that I was supposed to pick my money up within 90 days of consigning. I let them know the man I spoke to said I could pick it up anytime. They then replied with «it’s in your contract» which was never given to me. I then tried to gain further clarification by asking about their policy and why I was told I was able to pick up my money at any time on their FB page and then was ignored and deleted. There are other options in Northern Virginia that do not charge a fee of $ 7.00 to consign your merchandise, gives the consignor the option of getting unsold clothing back and most importantly, are not given mixed messages from the staff.

I found this site through Unilocal and stopped by on my way home from work. The store is quite small, very clean, with everything organized and arranged nicely (easy to browse). Their tops and sweater styles are geared more for an older (maybe 35+) crowd. At least the ones I saw… but the selection of shoes, bags, jewelry, and scarves is super nice! I did notice that their selection of womens suits… esp in sizes 10+ excellent. I purchased a beautiful and very large silk scarf and a pair of Talbots petite! jeans. The staff is super friendly… super friendly… ill surely be back to see what new items come in.

Love Love Love this store. Consign once every season and shop for free (with your consignment credit that is). I almost always find what I’m looking for and more. Great location, fab merchandise and the best customer service around!

Awesome consignment shop! One of the better ones in the area that I’ve found. Others have clothes that I’m not sure who would buy new, let along secondhand.
There always seems to be a sale and the shopowners are very friendly and willing to help. I went in one afternoon, despairing about my current work-​clothes situation, and walked out with a complete outfit: skirt, blouse, and shoes. Dang!
There are some designer brands… but then again… I have no idea beyond Ann Taylor, and that’s not even a designer. So don’t quote me on that.
Overall, a nice selection. As always with consignment shops, sometimes you’ll hit a treasure trove, and other times you will paw through racks of sweaters only to come up empty, but I think Auntie Te’s can be likened more to treasure than trash.

I tried out Auntie Te’s on the recommendation of all you lovely Unilocalers. I wasn’t disappointed. It was an adorable little shop with a vast quantities of gently-​used clothes. I went during the 50% clothing sale so the place was rocking. I ended up only buying a pair of flat, gladitor style sandals, but I had a blast looking at all the clothes. And I was probably the only one not trying to buy up the store. The girl in front of me bought a dress, four shirts and a pair of jeans for under $ 50.
My only two complaints: I wish there was more vintage (but then, I wish this of every store) and I wish their prices were a teensy bit lower. The sale made the store incredibly affordable, but I’m not sure how often I’ll shop there when there isn’t a sale taking place.

I went to Auntie Te’s for the first time yesterday, to see if it’d be a good place for me to get rid of my things.
What I found was that I picked THE BEST day to go. It was the holiday party which meant there was food, lovely holiday décor, holiday cheer, bargains (most things were 50% off), and door prizes.
The place was packed, the people were SO friendly (especially Auntie Te, who was there when I checked out) and there was TONS of great things to look at. Seriously, the friendliness and cheer was totally unexpected, and amazing.
Like I said, I wasn’t there to shop, but I saw this great coach wallet/​wristlet thing for $ 32 as I walked in, but put it down. If I had known it was 50% off at that moment, I’d have snatched it up. The crazy thing is, by the time I reached the front of the store to pick it back up, it was gone! People are not kidding when they say, If you like it, pick it up and buy it!
It really is a gem for shoppers. How I’ve never known about this place is beyond me! Everyone should definitely stop in.

I live for Auntie TE’s! This shop is a gem in the middle of Annandale! I have been a loyal customer for ten years and it keeps getting better. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the items look like new (many are). I find most of my designer labels there. The store is clean, trendy, upscale, and suitable for all women. They have a friendly and informative staff and you often see Auntie TE herself (who is an amazing ball of positivity and fun). I always go there to get my retail therapy and am never left unsatisfied!

Good selection of basic clothes… small selection of jewelry. But, the staff is fabulous… friendly…and just plain nice.

This cute little store has become my new addiction. The previous reviewer (Maria) did such a nice job of reviewing the store, there is not much to add. If you see something you want, buy it then, because it won’t be there when you come back-​even the next day! I wonder who is wearing those Buffalo jeans I passed up? I hope they are enjoying them. You feel as though you are in an upscale boutique. It is very nicely laid out and decorated. There is a nice selection of jewlery, shoes and handbages in addition to an ever changing selection of designer clothing. They usually have sales at the end of seasons where you can get great deals on clothing and shoes-​usually ½ off of an already great price. I walked out of there recently with Anne Klein jeans, a Ralph Lauren sweater, a Calvin Klein jean jacket and Nine West boots (New) for $ 23.00!
Bonus:
It is next to a Gold’s Gym, so if you hit it right (say around lunchtime) you can see the comings and goings of some buff guys. Yes, I am married but can still look.

Designer, vintage, and ecclectic describe this place best. Tucked away in a little corner next to the Gold’s Gym, this precocious little store will amaze and entertain. Its a different store every time I visit– and I always walk away w/​something adorable and completely unexpected. The few times I have walked away w/​out buying what I found, it always haunts me… and very rarely is the item still there when I return. So now I buy the treasures when I find them. Nicer than most consignment stores, they offer goods at great prices– and they seem to be really picky about what they accept (I’ve been there and heard them turning away consignee’s based on quality). Chicos, Coldwater Creek, Ann Taylor, Juicy Couture, Lois Vuitton, Ralph Lauren were a few of the brands I saw there today. I left w/​and AWESOME brand new bag– hey, sometimes people consign new things too– that I absolutely love. Happy day… fraction of the price I saw for a similar bag by the same maker at Marshalls. A fraction of Marshalls price– can’t beat that! I probably shouldn’t rave about this place too much, and keep it one of my little secrets. But I am a generous person… who can’t keep my mouth shut about a steal! Enjoy.
