Established in 2002.

O’Callaghan Hotels is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland with four hotels and two sets of serviced aparatments. Privately owned and managed for over 15 years the company also has a property in Gibraltar. The only US hotel is located in Annapolis.

I joined the O’Callaghan Hotel group in 1993 on a work placement program shortly after the O’Callaghan Davenport Hotel opened. I have been with the company through the opening of the O’Callaghan Alexander Hotel, O’Callaghan Eliott Hotel in Gibraltar, the O’Callaghan Stephen’s Green Hotel and finally moved to open the O’Callaghan Annapolis Hotel in the US.

We stayed here as part of a «group discount» for a team activity. The hotel did not live up to it’s cozy billing on its website. I would not recommend staying for a few reasons. The room is in need of updates – the lighting is poor and the fridge was musty. Overall it was musty– especially the bathroom. The tv had strange remote that would not provide info on what you were watching. Bathroom fan never stopped. Curtain was ripped in bath and toilet didn’t flush unless you held knob down. Did you say fitness center? Yes! 3 sad machines– no towels the first day I went or water or cups & the stench of 100 sweaty men. The restaurant provided bad service from unsmiling waitress with bad overpriced food for breakfast. Really bad coffee.
Good location however and since parking is a premium in Annapolis, paying $ 20 wasn’t bad after all.
I would never stay here! I did not sleep a wink– the loud heater kept me up as did the loud noises from bathroom fan and upstairs goings on. 3 baaaad nights.

Staff at front desk was NOT friendly. They answered questions but with their head down, never made eye contact, never gave any information, just answered questions.
Then they added $ 25.00 on to bill, which we saw when we got home.
It was an incidentals charge. we called and they said it would be taken off after 3 days. The staff should have informed us of this fact.
The bathrooms were clean, BUT I dropped something on the floor when I picked it up, I could see under the desks were garbage and small pieces of paper. The bed was very hard, the pillows were not much better. The bed squeaked when you moved.
THEN there was the fire!!! yes FIRE, everyone out of the building and into the rain.
BUt the staff did its job, directed everyone and I was impressed with their performance.
(the fire turned out being someone smoking I believe setting off the alarms but not positive)
So for what we paid it should have been a LOT better. I wont be back…

I will make it short.
The staff was rude and the hotel is old an could use an update.
I touched a lamp in the room above the desk and burned my hand so bad I immediately got blisters and had to get burn cream. When I brought this up to the the hotel staff she chuckled and laugh at me. Wow! This lamp is so hot you could cook a steak on it.
I checked out and went to a hotel that isn’t going to burn to the ground.

Do yourself a favor and pass on this place! Unbeknownst to me there is a $ 20 valet parking charge as the only parking option. The lobby has a fake perfumey smell which is better than the musty smell in the third floor hallway. My room had stains on the carpet, trash in the can, mildew in the bathroom and peeling wallpaper. I was afraid to sleep in the bed but I wasn’t itchy thankfully upon waking up. On my second night in the hotel there was a super loud corporate party on the floor above me which caused me to have to move to the second floor. That room was so musty I finally decided to check out instead of spending another night. I was minimally compensated and not what I would expect for all of the hassle. I won’t be going back EVER!

In a great location and the rooms are nice, but the overall feel of the hotel needs to be updated. The lobby and the elevators are a little dingey looking and the lighting in the rooms just isn’t bright enough. The people who work here are very nice, but $ 20 for valet parking ONLY? Cmon …

I struggle with my star on this one for many reasons.
The hotel was nice, right in the middle of town so you can walk right to the water front, and to many many restaurants.
The staff was great, friendly, on top of things, knowledgeable about nearby restaurants, etc.
However the room needs a few upgrades and the housekeeping staff was terrible.
One day we came back from the boat show and the only thing they housekeeper had done was make the bed, and put our dirty glasses back in the bathroom.
The garbage wasn’t taken out, the pillows were not placed back on the bed, they did not stock the toiletries, like shampoo and conditioner, which we were clearly out of, they left the room a total mess. Not what I would expect for what we paid, and out of housekeeping in general.
That said, the bed was nice, the room spacious.
I would recommend you stay here if you are in the area. I don’t think you will be to disappointed.

Stayed 2 nights for the sailboat show. The location was perfect, and valet parking was good considering the parking situation with the boat show in town. The staff were very polite and helpful. We showed up a few hours before check in but they checked and luckily the room was ready for us.
The room itself was a bit dated, but very clean. It’s an historical building, don’t expect a new modern hotel and you won’t be disappointed. We slept well, and had a wonderful stay.

One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at: they didn’t have a room with a king-sized bed like we booked, the check-in desk rep was rude and offensive, the room itself smelled damp and moldy, and we had to pay an exorbitant amount to park at the hotel. The check-in rep did not try to be helpful or offered to resolve the situation when we asked why they didn’t have the room. She then asked to see my photo ID before she would accept my credit card. I have never been asked for an ID at a nice hotel before (which means this is not that high class of a hotel). My experience was soured literally within five minutes of arriving at a hotel. That’s definitely a record. I would never stay here again or recommend anyone to stay here.

I was disappointed with our stay this time at O’Callaghan’s. The staff was not very welcoming. The room we had was in poor condition. Right away, there was a smell of sewer in our hall from an open sink drain in the janitorial closet that obviously had not been cleaned. During our 3 night stay, our soap and shampoo/conditioner were never replaced. Our shower was dirty. The shower curtain had mold on the inside of it and I had to ask to have it replaced. The IRISH restaurant next door did not have black tea, only fruit teas. The lobby also sis not have hot water/tea, only coffee. When we left, we were not asked how our stay was so we’re of the frame of mind that they really didn’t want to know.

Valet ONLY for $ 20/night so keep that in mind. Luckily it was just a rental car I don’t care about, otherwise I’d leave right away if they didn’t offer self parking. Valet was ok, but hotel staff was off putting, not friendly. Restaurant staff I dealt with was friendly but the breakfast wasn’t great, and was quite expensive. Will not be returning here next time I’m in town.

Stayed here a couple weeks ago. This place was awful. The front desk staff was uninterested in helping and the lobby had a pungent, overpowering smell of floral cleaning products. Our room looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1950s. The carpets were stained and grungy looking. The bathroom looked like it was decaying (the soap holder was falling off the wall) and I felt dirtier after I’d showered in there.
The kicker though was when I went to close the curtains and a cock roach fell on my shoulder. He’d clearly been living in the curtains for sometime and was so big, I felt like we had a third occupant in our room.
I’d pay the few extra bucks and stay anywhere else in downtown Annapolis.

I stayed here overnight after having dinner at Factor’s Row. The hotel was very quiet for a Saturday night.

Historical Yes… needs lots of updating. Staff was very friendly and accomodating even when I was making/changing reservations. The restaurant food was mediocre and not kid friendly. It’s an older hotel needing lots of renovations. It’s in a perfect spot though. Walking distance to downtown and the Naval Academy. I might try s different place next time.

I chose to stay here because there was a Groupon for it making it reasonably priced at 100 $/night for a king bed. After my experience, I don’t recommend anyone else stay here.
The room was reasonably clean, however it was definitely in need of rennovation. The staff were incredibly off putting. I did not feel welcome from the start. The staff were not very friendly and they had a lot of trouble finding my reservation.
The biggest issue I had is that they wrongly charged 20 dollars on my credit card 1 day after I checked out. When I called to inquire why it was charged, they put me in touch with Samantha. She informed me that «she remembered» me using valet, which I specifically told them upon check-in that I did not want as I had someone drop me off and pick me up. She then said that they found a valet ticket in my room and that someone in my room must have used valet. I replied that no one in my room used valet. Samantha was short and condescending as she stated, «I’ll just take care of it.» She did not apologize for the inconvenience. She did not tell me when to expect to see the money back on my card. It took several days after speaking with her to see the money go back on.
In my opinion, when staying in a hotel, the most important thing is customer service and being made to feel welcome. I was extremely let down on that front. The quality of my room did nothing to make up for it. Looking back, I would have paid the different between staying here and staying at plenty of the other nicer hotels/bed and breakfasts near by.

Okay, I appreciate that this hotel was in walking distance to my conference. That it was priced within per diem and was available three days before the conference. Even so, there were definitely some negatives that need to be addressed.
When I arrived (after missing the entrance the first go around), the valet driver didn’t seem like he couldn’t give a damn about me. He asked me some questions, and then ran off saying he had to move a car. Luckily someone else came and took my keys and gave me a ticket. After that I left my luggage at the front desk because I had to go the conference before the check in time. The front desk attendant was a bit off putting, as if he would do me a favor by checking in my bag. When I checked in later that day I also got the same guy who still gave off that superior air.
Anyways I got placed in a room on the third floor, with a view of the alley and the back of a few old houses. The room was clean enough though you could tell that the room needed a bit of a renovation. Anyways, it was decent enough to sleep and shower in. Free Wi-Fi also helps a lot. A negative was that they set a minimum temperature before the air conditioning will kick in so if you like a nice and cold room you are out of luck.
After checking out which was quick enough I gave the ticket to the valet. He drove my car and told me that I needed to bring my car into the shop, but it was hard to understand him due to his accent. Anyways, I gave him his tip and he ran off. Whenever I got valet from a hotel before the valet would at least help me with my luggage, but whatever. I just wanted to get out of there.
Good price, a place to sleep, if that is all you need and want then staying here would suffice.

My sister and I stayed over last night after a long day of celebrating her birthday with friends in downtown Annapolis.
The staff was very friendly and helpful during booking, during our stay and at check out. The front desk clerk, who I believed may have been named Samantha, was incredibly sweet and very patient and pleasant to a rude disrespectful customer that was in line ahead of us.
The courtyard, lobby and bar area were all very attractive. Service at the bar was quick, friendly and a good deal thanks to their St. Patrick’s Day specials.
Our room was large and while not very fancy and in need of some updating, was clean and well maintained. The shower had nice water pressure and the bed linens were comfy.
We both found the hotel to be a bit loud. They are slowly renovating the rooms and construction started on the floor above us pretty early in the morning. It would’ve been nice to sleep in past 8.

I come here on the Third Thursday of the month to join my fellow Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Parole for a few drinks and a chance to wind down and get to know one another socially.
The bar itself is great and the bartender is very nice. Nice comfy seating with roomy tables. The only downside is that they also book larger groups and it’s sometimes difficult to «relax».
I get it. They need to make money and if they can get a group of 50 or so to come into the bar to hang out and have a meeting, it’s important to them. I like it better when it’s not so crowded.

BED BUGS!!! When I reported the issue the said they had an inspection. And they quarantine the room. I called and asked for my room number to find it was occupied the next day. The management said they found none even though I had bites all over. I would never stay at tgat hotel again.

I had a great stay at O’Callaghan’s this past weekend. We arrived hours before check in and were thrilled that our room was available so early. It was nice to be able to get settled and unpacked before starting our vacation.
Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. We had brought our bikes, and they gave us directions to get to the B&A trail. Our room was clean and well maintained. Housekeeping was also prompt and efficient in servicing the room every day. We even had a nice little balcony facing West Street and were able to sit up there drinking beers while we watched the Fourth of July Parade. As far as I could tell from looking at hotels online, O’Callaghan’s is one of the only (if not the only) hotel with balconies in downtown.
The location is great. About a 10 minute walk from the waterfront, so you’re far enough away from the most densely crowded area down by city dock, but surrounded by a nice array of bars and restaurants (do brunch at Miss Shirley’s, but get there early!!).
Wi-Fi was free, which was a plus. Valet parking was a bit pricey, but the public garage across the street wasn’t much cheaper, and we didn’t want to hassle of worrying about street parking all weekend so it was worth it. Other reviewers have complained about the price of valet, but it’s honestly just comparable for the area. I think I even paid more for valet at Loew’s.
Not sure if other reviewers stayed in a different part of the hotel, but I had no issues with the AC or the water pressure and didn’t smell mold at all.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again for our next trip.
