Red Red Wine Bar

I would maybe give this 2.5 stars but it’s not an option. A friend of mine and I went in for lunch on a weekday. First people in. The place has a nice atmosphere but it had gotten very cold outside and the place was pretty chilly. 60s I would say. We both ordered a cup of soup and split a pizza. The portions were very small. The cup of soup (6 oz) came about 2/​3rds full. So you get 4 oz of soup for $ 6. The pizza at $ 10 was about 6″ in diameter (which was about a «slice» for each person). We then had tea, which came in a very large cup, but again, was only filled with maybe 4 – 5 oz of hot water. I’m not sure if this was meant to be fancy, but after being both cold and left hungry after the meal, a little more hot water would have been nice. The waiter was very nice and asked if I wanted more hot water, but by that time, it was time to go.
The corn and crab soup was good but very salty. The mediterranean pizza was also sort of salty. It was no Vin 909 flatbread. I could see this being a cool place if you wanted a nibble as you drank a few glasses of wine, but it was definitely not satisfying in terms of a lunch meal.

This is a really swanky little spot! Honestly, we dipped into this place because of the name. It sounded like a cool spot to grab a glass or two of wine and kill a bit of time, so we did.
It was the day of the Army/​Navy game so that was on in the background while we were in here-​sitting at the bar, we tried a few whites, a «honey wine» local from Baltimore which was definitely an interesting and new twist, and a thick Tuscan red. Some were bottled, and they even have «wine on tap» like beer which keeps it nice and fresh. I guess it’s kind of like the box wine concept-​keeps it airtight so nothing spoils.
Our bartender was quiet but attentive, working hard as she was one of the only ones working at the time. The décor in this place is what makes it so magical. There are red crystal chandeliers all over the place and there were white icicle Christmas lights in the window that were made to look like they were either twinkling or melting. Not sure if that was seasonal or not. But around 5:30 the lights in the bar went down so that all the backlights stood out more and the lighting was more romantic. There are a bunch of wine bottles for purchase along the front wall so if you find a winner in your tasting you can take some home.
My favorite piece of décor was the giant pink «chair» that was about 15 feet wide that looked like the back of one of those victorian armchairs-​but it was part of the wall. Hard to explain but you know when you see it-​and there were vintage doors behind the bar. The artist had fun here-​almost as much fun as I did looking at all of it. Definitely a sensory experience here for your eyes just as much as your taste buds. Revisit for sure.

The server was very friendly and helpful (my friends phone was dying and he charged it for her) and was good about helping make drink selections. The wine was fantastic as was the chocolate cake. The crap dip was good but pretty much on par with others I have had in the area. The interior was gorgeous and perfect for spending a few hours relaxing and having a couple drinks (although with the lighting having more than a few might put you to sleep). On the whole, a pretty good spot to have a nice night out.

This little gem is super cute and absolutely furnished to-​a-​T. I love their outside patio area (doggies allowed), their HUGE red diva sofa chair on the right-​side of the wall (totally sitting here next time) and the bar area high-​tops (purse holders under bar area). The have plenty of seating for happy hours and provide some great menu selections! My best friend and I ordered two different wine flights which were both reasonably priced, especially for three 6 ounce pours! I ordered the Bright White Flight and she ordered the Pinot Noir set. We loved each of the preselected wines!
Note! They have the most adorable tee-​shirts for purchase for wine-​os! I had to sign up via email so that they could notify me of when my size becomes available again. SO CUTE!

Literally nothing bad to say about this place. Food is amazing. Wine selection is amazing. Adorable place to eat. Loved it!

Totally deception and a rip off. They brought the wrong drink and refused to remove the cost from our bill. The pizza was burnt, service sucked and to make the whole experience worse. We ordered a bottle of wine and they charged us a corking fee! Usually a corking fee is only charged on wine that you bring in with you!
Save yourself money and grief and go to Mcdonalds… better meal and service.

Great service, amazing food. Classy wine bar that knows how to do it. Thanks for making our night so much better.

Took me forever to post this review, but I promised I would, so here goes…
I visited Red Red Wine Bar late on Memorial Day this year. I split the crab dip, which was tasty enough, with my date. For my entrée I ordered the «Bistro Filet — All Natural, 8oz Filet with Red Red Wine Reduction, Grilled Shallots and Fennel Gremolata» with a side of veggies. Of course, I assumed the «filet» was Filet Mignon, because, well it’s a $ 25 filet. Why wouldn’t it be? What later became apparent is that management here is banking on the notion that diners will assume that «filet» refers to filet mignon. In this case, it does not. What I received was a thin, skirt steak like hunk of meat, overcooked (I ordered medium rare) and underseasoned. I took two bites into what can only be described as a salted spare tire and decided that I wouldn’t be partaking in any more. I alerted my server, Katherine, that what I was served was neither filet mignon (as was implied), nor was it edible. She asked, «Well how are your vegetables?» I told her that they were fine. She said — and I can’t make this stuff up — «Well at least you like some of it», and walked away. I was dumbfounded. I asked to speak to a manager the next time she made an appearance. I was told that none were working that night. No managers working on a Holiday… let that simmer… I told Katherine again that I was unsatisfied with the meal presented, that it wasn’t filet and that I was unhappy. She just sort of stared at me like a dog trying to understand those nonsense sounds that come out of its owner’s mouth. After a long, awkward silence, she said, «Well, the kitchen staff is done now so…». It was abundantly clear, that I was getting nowhere with this dialogue. When I was presented a check for the meal, including the aforementioned inedible tire steak, I asked for the name of the manager and resigned to call back the next day.
On Tuesday morning, I called and spoke to the manager, Bethany. I recounted the crappy experience from the night prior. She offered no apologies, but promised to «investigate» the situation and return my call the next day. 5 days later, after no follow-​up from Bethany, I called back again. I reminded her who I was and that I had been expecting a call back. She led with, «I’ve been trying to figure out what to tell you…» and proceeded to explain that the restaurant’s filet isn’t actually filet, as much as it’s teres major (I did some research to learn that this is a very cheap, shoulder cut of cow. It’s in no way related to filet mignon or known as «filet» anything). I pointed out the obvious deception that’s inherent in calling a menu item filet when it’s not, and noted that Red Red Wine Bar had essentially lied to steal my money. Bethany blamed the situation on the server not knowing to explain that the menu item wasn’t actually filet mignon and offered me a credit for my next visit. I explained that I lived 40+ minutes away, and was so bothered by the first experience that I had no intention of visiting again. Instead, I asked for a refund for the uneaten non-​filet. She refused, saying, «I can’t just go refunding credit cards. I don’t own the restaurant.»
As someone who worked in hospitality management (even running a steakhouse) for years, I was horrified by, not only my culinary experience, but especially the interactions I had with Red Red’s wait staff and management. I would never recommend this restaurant, and cannot fathom an owner who’d be proud to be represented by the team that I encountered. Word of advice to the owner: employ a staff that gives a damn about your reputation.

Red Red Wine Bar is absolutely amazing. Their flatbreads are killer, especially the City Dock, the crab dip is really good, and the cheeses that I’ve had are wonderful. They’re helpful with wine selections and their mixed drinks are great.
The service is always friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is beautiful!
I highly recommend this place!

Probably our favorite place downtown – love the décor and Lorenza is the BEST server!
Fresh food every time (go for the grilled romaine salad with scallops!) and lovely wine selections.
We always take visitors here to give them a great, unique dining experience in Annapolis.

Excellent wine, food and atmosphere! I’ve been here twice and each time was impressed. The flights of wine are reasonably priced and I enjoyed reading the info given for each wine that I tried. The cheese platters, albeit a little pricy for the portion, were fantastic as was the food. The pear prosciutto pizza is highly recommended. Hope to return soon!

Just wanted to give a huge shout out to Lorenza for being the best server ever. Came in last night for the tail end of a date night. Took her up on the advice to get the Polination drink made with mead. So yummy. Got a cheese plate and then asked for another drink. Surprise me. Sweet and fizzy, you know what I like. She comes back with a lavender and blueberry collins made with vodka. Delicious! I’m going to have her surprise me with drinks all the time.
Another wonderful night at Red Red Wine.

Great apps… Always great to pick their cheese platter with wine… Excellent food… One spot you can’t miss off of West Street Annapolis.

Great for order flights of Cab-​bey Road, drinking wine, gabbing with your favorite gal pal, drinking more wine, noshing on pear prosciutto pizza, and ordering another flight. I really enjoyed my afternoon here!

I still think about those filet skewers months later. This was a fun and romantic dinner without being pretentious. I hate pretentious. Our server was down to earth, knew the menu and kept our glasses full. Oh but those skewers. Tender flavorful bites I won’t soon forget. I could order these and a salad for my meal. But, the salmon was pretty fantastic and I’m not usually big on salmon. The wine was also great as expected.
I didn’t love the eclectic seating. It screamed dirty to me. It’s hard to pull off lush fabric in a restaurant. Not my thing.
Worth going and worth going again.

This is just an initial review, and I do plan to come back and provide an update after I’ve visited a few more times. For now, this is only based on my experience at the bar with the wine and cheese plate.
The bartender made some excellent recommendations on the wine, and even provided some small tastes to help me make my decision. He also helped steer me toward some cheese selections, with which I was very satisfied. He was attentive and friendly, and didn’t tease me TOO much about my football team which isn’t one of the local teams and isn’t known for being a powerhouse… I thank him for his mercy.
The décor is fantastic, with the wall behind the bar being comprised of old doors that look like they came straight from the French Quarter.
I’m definitely going to be back to try an actual meal… so stay tuned for an update!

In short — you wanna hang out and drink a ton of wine at this place. Mission: accomplished.

Met up with a friend and went to Red Red Wine bar in Annapolis. She picked it because she lives there… I“m more towards the DC side of the world.
We got there in time for happy hour, so that was nice. We ordered a $ 5 order of crab dip right off the bat and then contemplated our next move. They also had $ 5 glasses of wine on the happy hour menu. We asked our server if it made more sense to get a bottle if we each wanted 2 glasses, or to go with the happy hour specials. She told us the bottle was the better way to go… so we took her advice.
We also ordered a Pear & Prosciutto Pizza.
The pizza and the crab dip were both good… and we both enjoyed the wine that the server suggested.
Here’s where things fell apart…
We got our bill… and the bottle of wine was $ 17 plus a $ 10 corkage fee. I’m no math whiz… but by my calculations that puts our bottle of wine at $ 27… which is MORE than the $ 20 we would have spent if we each had 2 glasses off the happy hour special menu.
I questioned the server, and she explained that all of their bottles have that $ 10 corkage fee because they also have a retail license. That’s all fine, but that should have been explained up front.
Yes, its $ 7 difference, but its the principle… ESPECIALLY since I asked her flat out which option was going to be more economical.
Food was good… wine was good… service was good… but the snafu with the bilil kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

I love the exhaustive menu and the in-​depth description of almost all the wines listed inside, however I’m not sure how knowledgeable the bar’s management and staff really are about their craft.
I visited last night while in town with a friend. I was excited to try their cabernet blend from Bordeaux, but ended up being disappointed to discover it wasn’t the bold and full-​bodied wine I had expected — also as described in the menu. The worst part was it came in a chilled glass. When I asked the waiter if they had refrigerated the wine, he said the manager had decided to chill the red wines to bring out their flavors more and the reds weren’t as cold as the whites. In my humble and limited opinion it only ruined the integrity of my cabernet by taking away, not adding to, its flavor and possibly making it even a little sour.
The food was decent though. I had the mussels and it was a generous portion served with warm bread. The indoor décor is cozy and inviting, whereas outdoor seating is nice for catching some fresh air while people watching on a pleasant summer night.
