We provide complete eye care for both adults and children. Our comprehensive eye examinations check your eyes inside and out for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and all other eye diseases as well as high blood pressure, diabetes, and other systemic diseases. We also treat eye injuries, infections, and dry eyes.

We specialize in hard to fit contact lens and can provide any contact lens made worldwide. Our optical laboratory can fabricate your glasses as well as repair them. All the latest lens and frame designs for eyeglasses and sunglasses are available. Our dispensary can provide designer lines, safety, sports, economy, and childrens frames, often with same day service.

We pride ourselves in providing good value, but no compromises in quality.

History

Established in 1910.

Our practice was started by Dr. N.E. Springer around 1910. His son Donald Springer joined the practice and continued it in the mid 1940’s. Dr. Murrell joined the practice in 1982. Dr. Svensen came in 1987 and Dr. Ellis joined the practice in 2004.

Dr. Murrell is a 1978 graduate of the University of Alabama and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from UAB School of Optometry in 1982. At the conclusion of his optometric education, Dr. Murrell was awarded the Bauch & Lomb contact lens award and the William Feinblum low vision award for achievements during his senior training. He began practice in Anniston with Dr. Donald Springer in 1982. Dr. Murrell was appointed by governor Riley to the Ala Board of Optometry in 2003. He is a member of the Northeast AL Optom. Assoc., Southern Congress of Optometry, and past board member of the Alabama Optom. Assoc. He is a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and is a long time choir participant. Dr. Murrell is a member of several community organizations and is an advisory board member of Wachovia Bank. He enjoys boating, fishing at Lake Wedowee, sports, music, and salt water reef aquariums. He is married to the former Carla Page of Huntsville and has two children, Kelly and Andrea.
