Commons At Dallas Ranch

Our father/​grandfather lived here for 3 years and was recommended by his doctor. He was always taken care of, loved the food, and the staff. As his family we were quickly informed of any issues. We highly recommend the Commons for anyone who is needing assisted living.

My mother Margaret (Madge) stayed at the Commons for 8 months before passing away this January 1^st. Alberto the General Manager is a wonderful man and leader. All the staff at the Commons were so kind and helpful to my mother. The facility is very clean, very well organized, and listens to feedback from the community. I would strongly recommend the Commons as an assisted living facility.
Five stars all the way.

I would like to let potential residences know that Dallas Commons is highly recommended. My father-​in-​law was on the memory care side. The staff was attentive, friendly and many felt like our extended family. Residence are dressed each day and most are expected to eat in the dining room.
We attended many events such as thanksgiving and Christmas meals. These were special events and although the memory care residences didn’t really know where they were, the meal presentation, music and festivities were very well done. The staff is fully engaged and seem to genuinely care. Hats off to Alberto and his hard working team!

Both my Mom & Dad are here, and I have to say that they have been treated kindly and the staff is very warm and friendly.
The ambiance is pleasing and the place is kept very clean & smelling fresh. The administrator Alberto is very professional and understanding, and helpful.
My family and I are very happy with Dallas Ranch Commons. We are glad to know that Mom & Dad are in a friendly, safe and caring home.

This review is for the locked Memory Care side for Memory Care (people that are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia). My Dad was here in the memory care side Assisted living facility. I’ve been there numerous times throughout the day, and the few people that they have working are very nice, but so overworked.
You bring your own medications that the doctor ordered. I think the medication schedule could be a little more organized, It seems like they were always calling and saying they needed something, sometimes after we just left there and we don’t live locally in Antioch.
I can’t compare this facility with others because this is the only one we had my Dad in. He was there for about 7 months.
My Dad passed away there and the staff was told by family, to call my Brother when ever they needed anything. Most of the time they did call my brother first, but the one time they didn’t call my brother was when my Dad passed away. They called my 89 year old Mom at 3:00 am to let her know, instead of my brother or myself.
Neighborhood isn’t the safest either, as another Unilocal reviewer gave link to the beating of an elderly women in the parking lot of the memory care. I must say that after the attack they immediately hired a security guard for the parking lot… but it’s a big lot with 2 driveways. Just saying.

On 12÷28÷15 at 7:30 pm staff from the Commons located at 4751 Dallas Ranch Rd. called to report a 77 year old female resident walked away from the facility and could not be located. Staff advised she suffered from dementia and did not have warm clothing when she left. Staff advised they had searched the complex and she was nowhere to be found. We spent significant time searching for the victim who was eventually located sleeping
Positive notes that they do events throughout year. BBQ’s for family/​friends. Just go often and make sure you speak up if something doesn’t look right.

Our parents are very happy here at the Commons. It may not be perfect, but imagine the challenges of catering to the elderly… We give a thumbs up to the Commons!!! The employees are so compassionate and caring. They are the best!

There is a pleasant atmosphere here that comes from the residence themselves and some of the staff. The place is pretty and well kept. The staff overall is friendly. There are cheerful activities going on all of the time. My experience with my dad living here was overall positive. However to achieve this positive experience took a lot of work on our part. The place is not managed well. The food is drab, the services unreliable, the care minimal. The staff is overworked and held back by an over abundance of rules and regulations. There is a high turnover of employees. Just trying to get my Dad the medicine he needed which was prescribed by a doctor was almost a full time job on my part. He had a call button for emergencies but it sometimes took over an hour for someone to respond. If you are looking for a place to care for your loved one when you cannot, this not the place.

Upon entering this assisted living facility, we were greeted warmly. The space is fairly clean and orderly. The individual rooms are spacious enough for one.
Their common areas are nice. They have a large table with plenty of seating for dining or playing games. There is an outside courtyard with several vignettes for seating and pretty landscaping.
Residents seem to be happy and the staff is pleasant.

the people who work there are wonderful. management is not. The manager told me that he was increasing my wives rent for the forth time this year and if I didn’t like it MOVE HER. My wife passed seven weeks after her move. I believe that the move was responsible for her passing. He is all about corp. profits. Do not go there.

The commons at dallas ranch is a bunch of BS.
The management does not know what they’re doing. All they care about is money. And I have witnessed management fire good people. One girl in particular. However that is none of my business. If you want to bring your family somewhere amazing, take your parents, grandparents aunts and uncles to Westmont in brentwood. Do not waste your time with the commons. They are very neglectful to their residents. I’ve been told first hand of all the atrocious acts of neglect that has come with the commons. Garbage cans are disgusting, the residents are not taken care of properly. Residents aren’t being showered regularly, and the residents in depends aren’t being changed regularly. Sure they look like a good place but looks are deceiving. The place is run by horrific people. There’s a med tech asian girl with blonde hair who is very rude. She cussed at employees and made us. Very uncomfortable. The place needs to be taken over by someone who cares about the elderly and not just money. Again, do not bring your family here. They will not get the care they need. This place also does no accommodate the elderly with proper equipment. take your family out of the commons ASAP

My parents have been living at The Commons at Dallas Ranch for just under a year and really love it. The facility is one of the nicest facilities we have come across. They provide many activities for their residence and the staff has always been very friendly. It gives our family great relief to know our parents are in a safe clean environment. It also provides my parents with the opportunity for a wonderful social environment and have made many new friends there. We are happy to have found The Commons at Dallas Ranch.

My mother was here for 3 years and we were very pleased with The Commons at Dallas Ranch. She was in her own apartment and then at the end in the memory unit where they monitored her all the time to assist going to bathroom, eating etc. We liked the facility, particularly the great room with the high ceiling, nice atmosphere. I am not sure what the details are of the experience of those other reviewers with negative reviews, but reading them caused me to want to say our experience was not at all negative, instead, it was quite positive.

I am very very disappointed with this place that we use to think was the best out there!
After visiting several places for our parent we made the decision to put our parent here. Attentive, compassionate and really understood the elderly.

This man only cares about one thing… raising points/fees…doesn’t consider the patient at all!!! If you cannot afford the increase… you need to find another place or
receive less care.
What has occured is this man works below somebody at… nobody will give us the contact name at headquarters… wonder why? Too many complaints?
I guess it is true that many of these facilities plan on increasing their costs which in affect ends up causing a hardship for these elderly patients and their families. It does NOT matter… money driven facility!!!
How very sad that all this just causes many patients undue stress during their supposedly «golden» years in a facility that once truly had compassion.

My initial response to this facility was wanting to move in myself and share a room with our Mother who has ALZ. Over the course of three different management teams, I was glad I had not. This last takeover was the worst. While I absolutely know that ALZ patients taste bud’s are not acute, nor discerning, to see a dinner that consisted of your basic wonder bread type, a slice of processed cheese food, gray canned peas, and a cup of jello just flat annoyed the hell out of me. Not once, but almost every time I was there for dinner, the food look horrible and unhealthy. If the rent had not kept going up, I might have made allowances.
Mom’s room used to be dusted… with this last management team? Not so much, but they had no problem raising the rates.
Mom’s clothes had her name sewn in each and every item, thanks to one of my sister’s. MIA, including her diabetic socks, which are not inexpensive.
The complaints can continue, but suffice to say, our family moved our Mother to a new, WONDERFUL, small facility and we feel that she is truly cared about there.
Corporate profits seem to be the only thing cared about now at The Commoms. Added to the fact that the staff was younger and younger, which gave me no confidence in their education level of caregivers, it was just time to vacate.
Save your money… find Mom and Dad a facility that TRULY cares about your parents… it is NOT The Commons…

The Commons was a really great facility when we moved mom into their Memory Care wing in 2008. During the 6 years she was there, the management team changed 3 times (not a good track record), the caregivers got younger & younger (some looked like teenagers) & I questioned their training & ability to deal with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Routinely, moms expensive diabetic socks never made it back from the laundry, other residents belongings, with their names on them, routinely ended up being put in moms room & continued attempts to fix the problem resulted in nothing changing. The kicker, which caused us to move mom out of there this month, was the December 2013 letter I received informing me that mom’s monthly rent was going to increase by $ 2,405 PER MONTH if she wanted to keep her private room /​private bath. Clearly, Corporate greed has taken over. The food leaves much to be desired; dinners that should have been served hot were lukewarm at best. Residents were rushed thru their meals routinely & dietary restrictions can’t be met at this facility. There used to be many good things to say about The Commons, but over the years, things have not changed for the better in my opinion. Now, it’s all about Corporate profits. What a sad, sad thing.
