Sofas for Less

My husband and I found ourselves in need of a new couch, and upon recommendation from a friend, went in to Sofas For Less. We were immediately greeted by the owner Mel, and was told about how they do business, i.e. pick the style you like, customize to your hearts desire, lifetime warranty, etc. It took us nearly an hour and a half to pick what we wanted, and Mel was there for us if we had a question or wanted some advise. He never hovered as many salespeople do, and was extremely patient and kind to us. Truly the best customer service around, for any type of retail store! I have already referred people to his business, one of whom also found the service exceptional (at the Livermore store), and ended up buying a couch from them as well! If you are in need of a couch, do yourself a favor and go see these guys!

My wife and I dropped in to just look at some options of couches and chairs. Diana the sales woman was absolutely wonderful showing us all the combinations of what we could do and the different fabrics. So needless to say the next day we came back in (mind you we live in Richmond and drive all the way to Antioch just to place an order with them). So we bought a couch, chair, and ottoman which is exactly the style we wanted and color too, they gave a great price for all 3 items and told us delivery would be in 3 –4 weeks. Well just a few days later on Thursday Mel calls and says my furniture is ready for delivery!!! So Friday I got my furniture! Mel and Diana are great people and I highly recommend taking the time to go in and check them out!

I can’t explain how excited I am about purchasing my very first custom couch! Min the past I would buy furniture from Craigslist etc but the joy of actually customizing your own brand new couch is so exciting! I just purchased the Tampa sofa with the chaise the other day same exact fabric as the floor model and I am so anxious to get the call that it is ready for delivery. The delivery takes about 6 weeks and I am crossing my fingers that it comes earlier. The couch is so comfortable I fell in love at first sight! Sofas 4 Less is the best. And not to mention Mel, Mel is an amazing man great service and a great company. In the past I have passed through this location just to window shop and never went back for some reason but I did and I met Mel on my first return visit. I am so glad I gave them another shot the couch that I picked out is perfect. After meeting Mel and seeing the Tampa Sofa I searched around and around for about a month trying to find some thing similar and just as comfortable. No NO LUCK! The Tampa sofa was the one and nothing could compete. I felt at home sitting on that sofa in the store love love love it! I have recommended sofas 4 less to all of my friends and family. Mel doesn’t push you in to a sale like other sales men he just lets you test the couches and fabric for yourself without saying a word until you tell him how blown away you are lol. The pricing is great! The couches are great! A lot of options on fabric which is great! And just the humble environment walking in and leaving is great! I have experienced several furniture stores and by far sofas 4 less is my favorite! Though they only sell sofas I am in love with this place! Any place of business has to have the right atmosphere to make you want to come back again and again and to brag to your friends and family about. No other furniture store gave me that but this place. Maybe it’s Mel I don’t know but I am definitely excited and a bit impatient for my couch to arrive!

Mel was very kind, personable, not pushy in the least bit, and was very helpful and honest. Our sectional is so beautiful and comfortable. The fabric looks like it would be really expensive, but was actually very reasonably priced. Great deal! Don’t go anywhere else for a couch!!!

One star for the great customer service and another for them making me a custom sectional to fit perfectly in my living area.
Delivery service went smooth but I did notice when it was installed that 2 of the pieces didnt align correctly but I decided «whatever»…
When we sat on the floor models the couch was extremely comfortable but it seems whatever material used in that one was not what I was sold. At first I thought it was because we had to break it in like they said but its now 2 years later and its just as uncomfortable as the day i bought it. Id rather sit on the floor than this $ 2300 brick i purchased.
Also within a few months one of the seams came apart on the cushions so I had to get it patched.
I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone as i now have to try and sell this piece and look for a new one.
Lesson learned.

Thank you, Unilocalers for helping me find this place! We had such an easy and nice experience there while ordering our new sectional and oversized chair. The owner was great and helped us each time we came in (first time to check it out for prices, second time to order and the last to pick them up). I think we made everyone jealous when we told them that, yes, we got CUSTOM couches, made in the USA! They took about 5 weeks to arrive, and came in exactly what we wanted (size, shape, cushions, color and fabric). The prices were VERY comparable, especially when you can order whatever you want. Go here instead of those furniture stores that are always having «closing sales» and have pushy sales people! You won’t regret it!

I came here in the beginning of March to order a new couch for my new house that I recently bought/​moved into. My Dad, used to be the owner of the property and managed it and also is a past customer, told me about this store and told me to see what they had and the cost as I was having trouble finding a couch I liked at a reasonable cost. I came here with my boyfriend, we picked out the couch and ordered it in bonded leather. we also got two free throw pillows as well for no additional cost. He had told us it would take 4 – 6 weeks to get our new couch. However, it took almost 8 weeks for it to be done and shipped to them. Which is a reason i took a star off, but I also took one star off because I called and asked for the timeline, as I live in El cerrito, near richmond-​berkeley area and Antioch is a far drive for me. They never got back to me where my boyfriend called and got all the information for me. But for the priced i paid, and I have not picked up/​seen the couch yet, it was a great deal!

MEL is a great guy! He was very attentive to our needs and did not pressure us into a sale. He was very knowledgeable and patient. We found exactly what we wanted and purchased the same day!
The options are great and the products are nice quality. Don’t pay Macy’s or Lane home furnishing prices if you don’t have to!

Comfy, until you hit the sharp cornered feet!
We’ve had our custom, 11 foot L shape sofa for about a year now and we love it. The pillows will lose their shape a bit over time, but you can unzip the covers and fluff them. Definitely makes for relaxed family time.
The one warning I would give is just be careful swinging your feet underneath when standing up. Our model has square wooden feet with sharp, unforgiving corners, At 2 inches off the ground it’s easy to hit them. If you swing and slam your foot or toe against a corner it will hurt!
My wife was in the lounge piece when I heard a loud «TCHOCK!» and looked over to see her face constricted in AGONY. I thought she smacked the wall or something, somehow. She had swung her feet over the side to stand up. The square sofa foot was right there at the edge and she hit it full force. She’s icing her foot and hoping nothing’s fractured. So much for being relaxed.
Most sofas have round feet, perhaps for this reason. They ought to at least bevel them. I’d give 5 stars if they fixed this.

Great customer service. Diego (I’m bad at remembering names so I hope that was it) helped us and I know he’ll remember us because we were those people who had a child circus going on that day. One child was running from couch to couch while the other tried stopping her which then turned into a game of tag. After losing a few shoes, falling and getting a bloody tongue… it was time for the third one to have a major blow out. I mean, it was BAD!!! All the while Diego was being an amazing sales person and waiting patiently while we attended to our unruly and messy little ones.
If it wasn’t for his calm demeanor and amazing attitude towards the kids we would have left (due to embarrassment). Thanks for the great customer service and amazing patience. We cannot wait to receive our new couch. I will post pictures after it arrives.

Awesome customer service. Not pushy! I picked out my dream couch. Custom made and made in America. My couch was delivered right on time. They delivery company they use was also amazing. Nice polite young gentlemen. Respectful of your home and property. They took my old couch away for a small fee. You won’t be disappointed.

Mel and Diana go above and beyond to give you exceptional service! I You custom make EVERYTHING from the size of arm on the couch to the firmness of your cushions for a great price. Everything is straight to the point, no confusion and makes looking for a couch simple and easy. Our couch came in after 2 weeks from when we ordered it. The delivery guys were careful and set up the couch fast. I couldn’t have been any happier from beginning to end of the process. Well deserved 5 stars!

After shopping around at so many different furniture stores, I was a little iffy about coming here, mostly because I didnt want to be let down again, like I was when i went to all the other big name furniture stores. But this place won me over.
The selections they had were perfect for me, since I’m so picky. And the sales lady (i cant remember her name) was super sweet and knowledgable and not pushy. I found the perfect couch that I still am so in love with. It turned out exactly how I imagined. Its still new so it hasnt quite been broken into, the way I prefer. But my boyfriend sleeps great on it, when he passes out in the living room. I prefer big comfortable couches, which I know it will get there soon enough. We live in a one bedroom apartment and it is the perfect size for our little home. Its deep set, so when I sit all the way back my legs barely hang off the edge, I’m average height (5’4). And when I lay down and my dog cuddles up behind me, I’m still comfortable. Anyways like I said, its perfect.
I can’t wait till we move into a house some time next year, I will for sure be going back to get one of the sectionals that I fell in love with when we found our current couch. And i love that we get to customize the fabrics to our liking.

When we bought a new home, we had a room SCREAMING for a sectional. After touring every furniture store in the greater south bay (we live in San Jose) we were visiting family in Brentwood, and decided to check Unilocal for more furniture stores. I’m SO glad we found Sofas for Less. Truly a NO PRESSURE sales style, which is just what we were looking for. Very helpful person working there, but we were free to wander, sit, and ask questions. We picked the arms, we picked the depth, we picked the fill, we picked the fabric, we picked the color, we picked the size… it’s completely custom, and much less expensive than the «cheap» furniture stores.
Remember that part about us living in San Jose, they delivered to the door, on our move in date, when all the other appliances and utilities were being delivered and installed, the timing was PERFECT!
My husbands FAVORITE part are the throw pillows, which we were able to pick a different fabric, but have the welting match the couch… I think he’s told anyone that has visited. ;)
We’ve definitely referred people to the store, and we’ll definitely be back when we’re ready to work on more rooms that need sofas, love seats or chairs… we’ll probably get some extra pillows too. LOL!

Wow! Where to start. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted by warm, professional people who really want to help you buy a couch you love. No commission based up-​sell… In fact, when I was trying to decide whether or not to get a chair as well, Mel recommended we wait and see how the couch fits in our house. He was right… We don’t have space for the chair… And he also earned a customer for life. Mel also helped us pick our fabric (its fantastic) and understood my nit-​picky custom needs (please no t-​back cushions)…My couch is absolutely gorgeous. Could not be happier. And the experience was by far the best couch buying experience ever. Do not hesitate to use this company. Prices are unbelievable, service is great, and the quality of the furniture is fantastic.

My husband and I just moved to the area and had to leave much of our furniture behind in Seattle. When we went into Sofas for Less, we had a fair idea of what we needed. Diane was so effusive and helpful from the moment we stepped in the door. We even came in at the end of store hours and she stayed past closing without hesitation and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We moved into our home a week later and went back to buy the furniture. Amazingly, Diane remembered everything we’d selected without even looking at her notes – impressive!
Thankfully, she brought everything to us as we sat and looked and pondered. Her advice was right on target and we ended up buying a full sized couch, a chaise, and an ottoman made to order. The chaise was not on the showroom floor so we chose one based on Diane’s recommendation.
Mel helped us on the day the furniture arrived (a bit past the promised 4 weeks, but hey, it’s custom). The 2-​man delivery crew ($ 60) were friendly and so careful.
We absolutely love our furniture. It all coordinates together beautifully without being the fated «matchy matchy.» Thank you, Diane, it is better than we could have hoped for.

I was trying to write a review for the new Concord location, but it hasn’t been listed yet. Let me start by saying I’m an Interior Designer who has sold very high end furniture to clients. For my own home I like to change things quite often so I was looking for a affordable sofa that I could customize. I had been to numerous places and couldn’t find what I wanted for the price I needed. Then I found Sofas for Less and Diego. Being that I have sold furniture I could not believe for the price what I was getting. They cut down the back cushions to make the overall height short enough to fit under my window sill. I was also amazed at the speed in which I received the sofa, The fabric I choose was back ordered and I still got it within 3 weeks. The quality is more than I had hoped for. I really don’t know how they do it!

I’m not much of a Unilocaler but for this place I’ll definitely take the extra time to write a review. I’m so glad that my mom and I decided to check this place out. No pressure, reasonable prices, awesome selection of sofas, couches and sectionals, and most importantly, WONDERFUL customer service! Diego made sure that he was available for us to ask him any questions and at the same time, gave my mom and I our own time that we needed to think things through. I LOVE how almost everything is customizable. it made it that much easier to choose the perfect couch.
It was also very important that we received our couches within 2 weeks because we had guests coming over. Diego made sure that he kept us updated on when our couches would arrive and YES we got them wayy before we thought we would get them. The guys that delivered the couches in our area were also great. They’re close friends of the family that owns Sofas 4 Less. My mom even tipped them a little extra because they were just so nice even after carrying our heavy couches in 94 degree weather. Phew, what a workout!
I hope this family business sticks around for a very very long time. I’ll definitely be back (when I buy my own house) and plan to buy ALL my sofas and couches from them =)

It was a pleasure to buy a sofa bed from a company whose products are made locally in Northern California and customized to meet your needs. Usually such customization comes with a very high price tag but the prices are very reasonable at Sofas 4 Less. There is also an extensive style variety to choose from.
But it was even more of a pleasure to work with Diana and Derek who remained professional and helpful when some problems occurred with our order. We felt listened to and the final outcome is a beautiful sleeper sofa that meets our needs and surpasses our expectations.
Great friendly customer service, a decent price for a sofa made to fit our small living room and a beautiful velvet sofa, I couldn’t ask for more! Thank you Derek. I’ll make sure my friends and neighbors know what a fine store you have.
