History

Established in 2003.

Chris Baley and Steve Kurtz (i.e. CS Tree), started CS Tree Services, Inc. in the beginning of 2003, during some of the worst ice storms NC has seen in recent history. Since then, the business has grown to seven employees and lots of specialized tree care equipment.

High school buddies, Chris and Steve ended up in Raleigh after attending UNC-​Chapel Hill and NCSU, respectively. In a failing tech economy, and following the September 11^th attacks, Chris and Steve decided to abandon their computer careers, and go back to their roots, the outdoors, mountain climbing, and friendship. Tree care seemed to encompass all of these. We continue to pursue our love of climbing and the outdoors, as we continue to make new friends and lasting customer relationships with our tree service.

Chris Baley, his wife Amanda, and their daughter, Samantha, call Apex home and CS Tree Services, Inc. their bread and butter. Chris started CS in 2003, with his best friend from high school, and has since brought his two brothers, Tim and Peter, into the business.

Chris loves climbing trees and using a chainsaw. This should be evident when you see him 75′ up in your tree by 9am!
