Half Price Books Apple Valley Square — Apple Valley, Minnesota — Buy and sell new and used books, CDs, LPs, DVDs, comic books, textbooks, magazines, electronics, games, nostalgia, stationery and more!
I came in this evening to sell a lot of books. Thank you all very much for your hard work. I appreciate you taking the time to go through everything. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with someone that admires Philip Roth and Neil Gaiman sorry I didn’t catch your name. Again thank you. I enjoy being a loyal customer for you all.

There’s always something I need in here. Great selection of used books. I always leave with a stack of things I’ve been itching to read. The vinyl selection is small but there’s always good finds in there, and the condition is always pretty good. Staff is outstanding.

Great store! We enjoyed browsing for hours. Prices are fairly good, on sale days you can beat internet pricing for some books. I wish they had a kiosk where you could see what books are in the inventory across stores.

Good and organized selection if you are looking to purchase. However, it was a bit shocking at how much they«buy back» your books for. I would have rather donated my 15+ bags of books than sold them back if I knew how little I would have received back.

Great, well organized selection. I would love to give this store more stars, but their prices are awful! 2 of the 4 books I picked out were cheaper by a significant amount on Amazon. I asked the employee if they price matched, he retorted that I would pay$ 4 per book in shipping. Uhhhh, what?! Yeah, definitely would pay a ton in shipping for a cheap paperback with my Amazon Prime. Most of the more popular books are cheaper on Amazon or at Target, so keep that in mind before over paying here.

This store gets a nice selection of books, CDs, comics and the vinyl selection is really good. The pricing is all over the place — good and bad but overall good. Some stuff is a steal and some you could literally buy on line and have it shipped for less than half what they ask. Like all HPB’s you could also walk into the place a day later and find what you just bought for less or more. I do shop there for music as the selection and pricing is pretty good, and much better than the St Louis Park HPB. The video game selection is decent if spotty. They do regular clearance and emailed coupon sales, so i recommend signing up for those. I love this place and travel a bit to go there.

I love this place! They sell books for cheaper price, and they also buy any of your unwanted books, movies, etc. I am really into spirituality books so I go here to look for them since Barnes & Noble don’t really sell a lot.

I am alost always happy when I leave this store. Every once in a while I realize that they can’t possibly carry everything ! But they recycle the old-beyond-their-life-span-books, and give you a bit of pocket change in return… lovely gifty things that grab you as you are checking out, and are willing to transfer books from one side of town to the other. The staff is helpful and there are plenty of them… love having one right here in Apple Valley, you know… south of the river and almost in Iowa…

Store #4 on my Memorial Day 20% off quest. it seems it’s one of the smaller of the chain stores. However I find it to be one of the more organized and categorized ones. They have very nice eye catching displays. Convenient carts as you walk in, I couldn’t help but notice how neat and orderly it is. I actually found some hidden gems in the mystery dept. which made up for a lot of authors that weren’t there. I like how they put Jack Ketchum in the mysteries, and not horror like the others do. Another plus, they have a couple of dollar racks, even though I didn’t find anything, the rack is only one level deep for easy glancing. I like how they have very nice bathrooms located in a central area, not the back. The staff is very upbeat and friendly as well. It’s sad that it’s not as popular as the others. This is in a nice mall with very different stores like Mattress Factory, Savors, not the usual suspects. I would definitely make a destination trip here again.

This is the third different Half Price Books I’ve been to, and they never disappoint. I don’t mind that it’s small(that’s actually a good thing, less stuff for me to be tempted to spend money on) and the wide range of products(not just books, but movies, CDs, games, and toys). It do agree with another poster that they seemed annoyed that we wanted to sell books. Regardless, I could spend hours in there!

If you haven’t found this little shop of discounted books, it’s worth stopping in to see if you can find that book you’ve been looking for at a discounted price! My daughter just LOVES it!

Parking here isn’t bad because its a big lot for all the surrounding food and stores around though it does get busy and pact during the lunch rush and weekends. Right when you walk through the doors you get a wift of the old book smell but in a good way. They have everything organized in categories and in the back you can find the discount areas for books that didn’t sell very well or they have to many off prices range from 4 – 3 dollars a pop in the clearance section. Right in the front by the cash registers they have the new books that have just come out at a cheaper price then you would find at Barnes and Noble thats included for all their books. One big plus is that they buy everything back of course for a lower price but at least you get some $$ cash for the books, cd’s, dvds, movies, and magazines you don’t want anymore.

Love! Fun gifty things besides the books-which are great gifts too, mind you! They seem a little annoyed when you bring books in to sell-yes, they buy your used books, etc! But they are quite the helpful staff otherwise.

This place couldn’t rock any harder if it tried to… inadvertently seeing this sign when I turned south onto Galaxie off of Co Rd 42 was just pure, dumb luck on my part(and good eyes, I think). Seeing the sign of Half Price hearkens me back to Cal Berkeley days, when I used to frequent their store all of the time… but I digress. Not that I sported a capacious Samsonite(carry-on was all I was willing to not pay), but I am a true blue bibliophile, and I couldn’t resist the terrible temptation… just a ‘look-see’, I told myself. About 1hr15 minutes later, I come out(shamefully) with 3 books. And 1CD(to be played on the glorious drives along county roads dotted with various lakes) to enhance the rental car experience. This small store inside of a strip mall(SW corner) has a very comprehensive collection of everything. You name it, they most likely have it. The store clerks were exceptionally knowledgeable in servicing my requests, and added great recos). All of these factors are indeed reasons why I liked Half Price so much(back when it was located on Solano in Albany) in the first place! What a cool evening, shopping around 8PM, enjoying the warm day’s heat cooling off, and my new stack of great finds. Can’t wait to tuck into them, and in breaking open the cover, think of my great trip to the Twin Cities. PS The clearance section is in the rear, toward the right: it’s a free-for-all. One must have sharp eyes, and know publishing houses or recognize covers… there are a LOT(aspirated emphasis) of books even in that section alone!

I only thought you can buy their books online, but there are stores in town! How awesome! This store is located in a retail strip, so be prepared to circle around for parking. Thank goodness for this store, because I hate purchasing books for double the price… say at Barnes or Borders. And most of us read them once, so, that is so nice! There are an array of books here, for the most part, easy to find the section you’re looking for. It’s kind of a small area for so many books, so when there are a lot of people looking around, it gets kind of chaotic.

I love this place! My line to everyone about this store is «I can live in here!» I can spend hours here and not even know it. It’s starting to get busy at this store, I think more people realize what an awesome store this is, especially if you are into thinking green. Recycling is always good for the environment and great for our wallets, too. I love their clearance section– $.50 for soft cover books and $ 1.00 to $ 2.00 dollars for hard cover. You really can’t beat that-seriously! All books are in good condition and you can find current releases in regular books for full price while you can find it here for half and if you’re lucky in the clearance section for even less. The store has a pretty good computer system and can look up books for you through this system, to see they have it in the store, if you don’t want to roam around the store. All of the new releases are in the front of the store. What I also love about this store is that they have used CD’s. The CD’s are all in alpha order, so it is much easier to search for an artist if you have a specific CD in mind. All in all it is a well rounded store, easy to look for books, CD’s, video games and even comic books. Awesome store, make sure to block out a couple of hours into your day if you want to come here. One thing about this place is on the weekends, be prepared to fight for parking– it sucks!
