For 29 years Pathways has offered a wide range of massage & body therapy services designed to provide relief from pain and stress including: Swedish Deep Tissue, Acupressure, Shiatsu, Myofascial Release, and Bowen Therapy.

We strive to fully understand the specific issues and needs of each client, and to offer a secure space for talented, experienced body workers to help clients regain and maintain a balance of wellness and natural healing.

Pathways opened in Auburn in 1986 with three small massage rooms and one steam and sauna. Joy Curry began working as a therapist at Pathways in 1990. She and her husband, Joel, «Jody» purchased Pathways in 1993 and began with five therapists.

Joy continued to do massage, serve as personnel director, and run the office until the last few years.

Jody, a former clinical social worker, is trained in Bowen Therapy, acupressure, and chi gung massage therapy as taught by Judy Phillips at the Phillips School of massage. He continues to see clients and assist in the day to day operations.

In 2011, Pathways was moved 7 miles up the hill from Auburn to just off I80 in Applegate. Presently, eight well experienced, independent therapists carry on their original mission.

Business Owner

Joel, a former clinical social worker, trained in body therapies at the Phillips School of Massage, Berkeley Acupressure Institute and with Milton Albrecht & Ozzie Rentsch for Bowen Therapy. He sees clients and shares management duties at Pathways with his wife of 33 years, Joy. Joel enjoys his year round organic garden & nature photography & hiking near his home in the northern sierras and in the Nevada desert. Joy Is an artist who has done many animal portrait commissions, and who shares her studio with Pathways reception area.
