Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1975 with a B.S. degree in Agronomy. He married his wife Kathy in 1973 and they have four children, Amanda 34, Krista 33, Andrew 31 and Brandon, 26. He was a golf course superintendent in Northeastern Wisconsin after graduating from the U.W. He then became a seminar instructor for the O.M. Scott and Sons Co. in 1976. This meant traveling around the country giving educational seminars to golf course superintendents, landscape contractors and lawn care operators. In 1978, he decided to open one of the first Barefoot Grass Lawn Service franchises and came back home to the Madison, WI area. In addition to the Madison branch, Mr. Kurth owned Barefoot Grass franchises in Peoria, IL, Lexington, KY and Appleton/​Green Bay, WI. These all were sold to TruGreen Chemlawn in December of 1997. He has been a Past President of the Wisconsin Turfgrass Association and the WI Green Industry Federation.
