SeaBreeze Tavern

First off, I live two blocks away. This is my go to spot for a beer. Yes, this is a dive bar. Yes, there is a medical cannabis dispensary. If you’re a tourist expecting anything else please stay away. Rich, the owner/​bartender is an awesome person who will take care of you. Just keep in mind he is the only one working. A domestic beer is $ 4. An import/​craft is $ 5 – 6. A well drink is $ 7. Most evenings there is a projector playing movies on the side of the building. I love this establishment and will always support it.

Absolutetly without a question a 10 on the dive bar scale. Rustic seaside bar, old pool table, warrior’s game and not so crusty bartender/​owner Rich.
Rich is a retired Sun Microsystems sales executive with a shit ton of war stories. Plastic cups filled with doubles when you order a single; maybe the definition of a dive bar.
Oh and anyone named Geoff isn’t really ever going to dig a dive bar… just sayin. Rock on Rich!

This is an awesome little dive bar! They were projecting the Big Lebowski outside and had a bonfire, it was a great night!

I wish I could provide negative stars. We are visiting Aptos for the holiday and staying down the street from this unfortunate establishment. First off it smelled like an open sewage pit walking up to this place. We poked our heads in to check it out (we dig a good dive bar) as we wanted to come back after dinner. When we told the bartender/​owner we just checking it out he was a total d&@k and commented that they also do museum tours. Whatever dude… we won’t be back. Have fun keeping yourself company in your cold, smelly, empty bar.

If you love a bar where a beer and a shot are about $ 10… this is your spot. Easy going bartender with MNF on in the background. A few locals to keep us company and some small talk. Juke box and pool table in tow. Thanks RICH for a nice welcome to a spot I cant get to very often! Looking forward to our next visit

My family has owned a house across the street from this bar for 30 years. This is the absolute WORST bar in the entire planet earth. The owner is a focking dlck. The location and layout of this bar has so much potential, I wish I had the money to just buy him out and make this into the great bar it could be. If I could rate — stars I would. Did I mention the owner is a fecking prlck?! Don’t waste your money here. I wish we could put him out of business, but I think it’s one of those situations where he somehow owns the property outright and doesn’t need to actually bring in a profit. He can’t possibly be making money when the only 4 customers on a Saturday night leave before they finish their drinks… Although I’m pretty sure he’s dealing out of the back so maybe that’s where his profits come from.
What an embarrassment to Aptos.

Every time my college buddies and I get together for a weekend in Aptos, we make sure to visit the Seabreeze. We’ve been coming here for the past five years and are never disappointed. When we hang out outside, the owner/​bartender typically starts a fire for us and on a special occasion, there will be a movie projector playing on the wall. It’s a fun, local spot that makes us feel very welcome! I highly recommend the SeaBreeze!

Hands-​down the worst bar experience I’ve ever had in my life. The beer tender was so rude I wanted to leave within three minutes of being there. He was also rude to the four elderly ladies ordering behind us. Why do you have a bar if you don’t want to serve anyone a drink?. The first time and last time I will ever support his business. I’ve never heard anyone walk away from the Seabreeze and have a good experience. I wish the owner would just go away forever and someone with a good attitude would take this place over. I guess this explains why he got KO’d in the bathroom at the Brit. he’s a complete A– hole. He also had an illegal cannabis club in the back room and was forging fake medical cards. I really hope they throw the book At him. farewell beer tender and don’t drop the soap… Hopefully the people of Aptos never have to see your face again. karma does exist

Where do I start???
1. Plastic cups!!! How lazy and cheap must you be to be serving me a top shelf drink in a plastic cup? Rich, I think you need to lower your prices since you don’t mind lowering your standards.
2. I’ve been dragged by friends to come here a few times before and noticed that this «Beertender» is extremely rude quite frankly he’s a old grumpy asshole.
3. It gets pretty amusing if you’re lucky enough to be served enough of these over priced drinks to pick his head on his herb in that shady, also cheaply decorated, overpriced, poorly run (by himself) back room open to his bar. :/​— let’s face it his products are old and his accessories are tacky lol.
4. Rich is often quick to verbally/​physically attack you and or most likely mace you if you don’t leave when promptly
86’ed so enjoy the lingering mace, over priced drinks (served in a thin plastic cup… Kinda reminds me of my early cheap college years), and an unpleasant, angry, red troll of a «Beertender» SERIOUSLY. Go on down and enjoy your time with the lowest when it comes to customer service and experience.
5. The place is always dead EVEN on the most beautiful of days. I’m sure the reason behind it being a depressing dead zone is because the atmosphere in itself is pretty depressing.
7. If the night goes on and things really bottom out. You might be lucky enough to be served a cannabis infused cocktail and then watch Rich the owner rub his customers down with a creamy cannabis jizz looking substance it’s gross!!! Then things got interesting and I got to listen to him pitch as to why I should let his decrypted old creepy hands touch me with this nasty shit!!! No thanks bud.

First off the owner rich is the biggest POS on this planet… his bar is over priced crap if u like paying $ 8 for a well cocktail and beer in plastic cups… then this place is for you! Oh yea his medical cannabis dispensary in back is a JOKE selling people brown MOLDY medicine to people that are truly sick u can kill them dude… and edibles that contain 1 MG yes u read that right 1 MG of THC is nothing!!! Most edibles range in the 100+ MG range 1 MG is hilarious this guy is a clown and sells 3 year old cannabis rich u live in Santa Cruz every club around SC has superior products hash/​edibles/​cannabis your 1 MG edibles are garbage u keep pushing your D– outdoor and subpar products I hope people realize not to deal with this guy… stay away from him and his bar/​dispensary horrible. PS he does not test his products because it’s MOLDY every club in SC test for potency/​MOLDs this guy is straight clown shoes. BTW all his edibles have NO expiration DATES legally you have to have them on edibles some contain EGGS idiot. Me and my friends will be complaining to SC cannabis board to report this hopefully he gets shut down read the reviews no one likes you…

I could not believe the reviews of this place so had to check it out. Can I just say «all the reviews are genuine/​correct». The guy behind the bar. (owner, bartender) is the biggest jackass you will ever have the misfortune of meeting. He’s rude, ignorant, arrogant and a complete imbecile and that becames apparent soon after he opens his mouth. There is «no one» in his bar! Yet he continues to be rude, condescending and all In all a complete tool! (He will put his hands on you too).
Leave this place alone or if you are like my work colleagues they just want to go to push this Muppets buttons and trust me… that will not take long… stay away or go and enjoy a neanderthal experience!

Yikes. Overpriced drinks, overpriced cannabis edibles and a gruff bartender.
$ 7 for a short mixed drink.
1 star only because the proximity to the ocean and an outdoor fire pit can make the experience bearable.

This place could be great but it isn’t. It’s got a cool history. Unfriendly and last time I went and my beer was warm.

Who doesn’t love a Salty Dive Bar across from Beach? Rio Del Mar and Aptos typically caters to vacationers and ritzy locals. The Seabreeze is a refreshing change of scenery. Watch a movie outside while talking around a bon fire, yes thats awesome. Banter with Bartender while watching 1980’s music videos from bar stool, yes I’ll take that. You go to a bar to have fun, let loose, enjoy conversation and get away. If you appreciate the beauty of a dive bar, you have found your mate in the Seabreeze!

We call this place the hamster cage… because that is what this place looks and smells like. Ugh. It is a shame to waste such a potentially cool place. If you are looking for friendly customer service, reasonably priced drinks and clean place… well this isn’t it. Avoid.

The bartender is rude. When one of the girls in the group asked for extra lime he made snark comment then asked if she really needed it. He also told my friend to hurry up and order this isn’t a library when he couldn’t decide what he wanted yet. Then the band was playing in the back we wanted to check it out. We walked back and I guess he said to buy a drink to see the band. One of my friends didn’t buy a drink yet out of the group of six. Everyone else had a drink. He then grabbed my friends jacket and pushed him back against the wall. And then said sorry for roughing you up. But you need buy a drink. You could just told us and tapped our shoulder. Never go there it’s dirty and the bartender is way out of line. I will never go back there again. Avoid this place like the plaque. Do not go

Certain, without a doubt either the bartender or one of the people in this bar stole my phone last night. I tracked it and it is in apartment behind the bar 111 Marina Blvd. The bar tender told us it was no where to be found and gave wayyyyy too much information and excuses to be innocent. This place is a shit hole, look at it, I should’ve known better. Stay clear unless you want to be robbed!

Last time I went in there, the guy behind the bar was such a jerk that my friends and I had to turn around and leave. I’d love to give my money to a local business, but not this local business.

I would give it zero stars if I could. Weak overpriced drinks. $ 6 well shots n $ 3 for nasty instant coffee. What kind of a dive doesn’t have coffee maker to sell coffee drinks? Left sober and broke

This place is terrible. The drinks are way too expensive for a dive bar. The owner/​bartender really sucks. He is rude and only opens the bar when he feels like working. The only people that go into this place are the owner’s friends and they suck too. Don’t go here. Go to the Brit or the Windjammer for cheaper drinks and better service. I have lived in Aptos my whole life and enjoy every bar here except the SeaBreeze. I know what your thinking. This guy probably got 86’d from this place and he is just getting his revenge. FALSE. Every year or so I give this place a chance. I can never last more than one drink before I have to leave. This place is a waste of great potential all thanks to the owner.
By the way, the outdoor section is a vacant lot next door that doesnt have chairs or tables. Just weeds.
