I think It is gone! I couldn’t find it anymore! Use to be trendy Taiwanese grub.

Recently change new owner! Most horrible food in town, order 7 dishes at late night, none of them are acceptable! Really terrible food I’ve ever had these years

Came here on a SATURDAY. Half of the things we ordered, they were out of stock, wtf. The waitress recommend we come on a Monday or a Wednesday. No. Just… no. How is it possible to run out of stock on SATURDAY? Aren’t Saturdays & Sundays supposed to be the prime days for a bar?! The food that we actually managed to get were good though. Will not be back… unless my dad has some weird craving for their food. I’m looking at the little survey on the bottom of this and the first question thing is Best Nights. NOTSATURSDAYS. NOTSUNDAYS. Okay.

Opens until midnight, close on Wednesday. The place serves delicious Taiwanese dishes. Everything we ordered is wonderful, including Duck and ginger soup, Squid, Tofu, Cabbage with Bacon, Stir Fried Noodle and some exotic food I wouldn’t mention the name, as well as the complimentary seasoned seaweed and pickled cabbage. The cook has a way to turn simple food into delights by selecting the good quality food material and with skill. The food is not oily, the place is spacious/quiet and had very friendly service. Perfect for friends reunion and family gathering. As I am writing this, I am thinking to get some to go from them already. They have a private small parking lot in the back.

It’s hard to review Machi since I’ve been a regular for the past few years… For me, it’s one of those places that you feel welcomed, comfortable, takes no planning, in for no surprises, and the food is decent enough to keep us coming back on a regular basis. If you’re familiar with Taiwanese beer houses in the area, Machi is comparable to Indians and Jurassic except smaller in size. There isn’t any ambiance or «theme» worth mentioning, but I feel the food is higher quality compares to others. Here are some of my favorites; –Salt and Pepper Pork Liver — Kung Pao Thousand-year-old eggs(It sounds weird but taste pretty good. Fried thousand-year-old eggs stir fried with peanuts in Kung Pao sauce) — Stir fried Taiwanese Cabbage w/Bacon — Wu-Gon-Chun-Wong, Spicy Pork Blood, Pork Intestine, Tofu Stew. — Fried Taro Sticks w/Anchovy and peanuts *ABSOLUTEFAVORITE*, not sold anywhere. Great beer food, addictive! They usually have seasonal or daily specials that aren’t on the menu, just ask the waitresses. Most of the time they’re authentic Taiwanese dishes, like Salted-Goose and Basil Conch, just to name a couple that I have tried. And they’re pretty good. In conclusion, there aren’t much ambiance to be speaking about(think casual Chinese restaurant), good food although small portion for the price. Buy-1-get-1-free pitcher on beer every Thursday!

Ok, this place can be kinda hard to review because it’s different in the day than night. During the day, it’s a authentic Taiwanese place with your traditional pork chop rice, minced pork noodles and etc. The owner use to own«Good time Café» in San Gabriel, Rowlands, and Arcadia but then decided to sell it and open Machi I guess. I grew up eating Good time café so my review may be bias… anyway, during the day, it’s kinda dark and feels like a hole in the wall but that’s ok because Im there for the food =) During the night, it’s a restaurant /Karaōke /bar with creative Taiwanese food. It’s really good but they dont really focus on the décor of the place so if you’re looking for a casual hangout with good food(a bit pricey), this place is a good place to start. I recommend this place to people who likes authentic Taiwanese food… only we can appreciate intestines, pigs blood, and etc. =)

We ordered 8 dishes: 1. BBQ mackerel(good) 2. BBQ quail egg wrapped in bacon(rich but tasty) 3. 3-cup chicken(good) 4. Stir-fried lamb(good) 5. Whole fish(yummy!) 6. Chicken Mushroom soup(light in flavor but yummy) 7. Stir-fried vegetables(decent) 8. Intestines with pig blood(to you westerners I know this sounds disgusting, but it’s a traditional Taiwanese dish loved by many!) The damage: $ 140 before tip. 4 stars for food, minus 1 for price and lack of attention at times(didn’t stay on top of water and we really needed it to wash down the salt. :) A not pricey for Taiwanese food… but maybe we are paying a premium for the super short shorts and tight jeans waitresses were wearing. Whatever floats your boat I suppose. They were nice. :)

We came to this place because the restaurant next door was full. Coming in the décor was nothing fancy and a little bit too simple. The table seats was extremely uncomfortable. Service– The waitress was very friendly and very helpful in telling us what were their popular dishes and their specials. We ordered squid, fried noodle, herbal chicken soup, taiwanese pot cabbage, chinese squash with clams, butter fish with marinated seeds. The food was overall pretty good but the bill came out very high. The food came very quickly and we asked for rice and they told us that they ran out of rice and we needed to wait! When we were 90% finished with our meal, the waitress came to tell us rice was finished but by then we were basically full and didn’t want the rice anymore. what restaurant would run out of rice!!! Lastly, there was a baby cochroach running on our table… Although the food was okay, I wouldn’t come back again. The uncomfortable seats, high bill, no rice, the cochroach really turned us off and we will not come back again.

Alrity, we came by here because all the places we wanted to eat were closed but I do recall my friend Lisa saying that their fried rice was good and last time I did try it and and it was okay. I was craving some substance and fried rice would do the trick. We ordered their shrimp fried rice and it was really good and they had the Honey pork ribs that also tasted good too and we ordered bbq pork but it was like shake and baked and it tasted not so great. It came with dipping sauce but that didn’t help it at all. The place is a bar essentially and has a bunch of skewer dishes. Though we didn’t order them this trip. They have a selection of sake and those that I like to drink but I wasn’t in the mood. The benches are pretty uncomfortable so sitting long in that position just makes me want to leave. the service is good though, but for me I just wanted to eat and split. Again if you like skewers and they have plenty to choose from expect to pay bucks to get filled. My rating today is based purely on two food items mentioned above and service. Everything else sux.

I don’t know how a dinner for 4 at a Chinese restaurant turned out to be over $ 100. It’s not like we ordered seafood or anything. It may have been the braised pork shank that jacked up the price but it was so amazingly delicious I would eat it every day. If it wasn’t for the insane price and the cheapness of the guys that I went with(really? you’re going to make me pay $ 27 when I only ate 1⁄3 the amount of food you ate??), I would’ve given Machi 5 stars. The décor is very café-like and the furniture is as cheap looking as it gets. But I was shocked by the overall quality of the food. Everything from the cold dishes to the fried rice and the yakitori was delicious. And if you’re into skinny Asian waitresses, this is the perfect place.

This place is alright. A couple notable things that i like about the food is the salted pork(fried) and their lamb stir-fry noodle. The other stuff served, well can get them elsewhere. Although a friend bee going back and he said that salty pork is not the same every time. A friend took me there as a thank you for helping him with a wedding ceremony, so nice to eat gratis :) Ordered a pitcher of Taiwan beer, it was alright too. Ordered yakitori stuff, cold food items. They’re ok.

Pro: Good for group hang-out. They have a kariyoki place inside(but only one microphone working~~). A lot of space to park, **Sells Alcohol** Con(Man, don’t even get me started) Even though they have $ 1BBQ Tuesday, and buy one get one free Bud-light Thursday, still a bit pricey. Seats are not comfortable, and you have only a little space to sit in and have dinner. It was loud as hell when I step in, not a typital/ideal place for me to be. I will get back again, because my boyfriend loves there!!! :(

Hunting for a bite to eat around 9:30PM on a weeknight… Driving up Baldwin, I look and see that there are no dumplings in my future tonight, Din Tai Fung just closed…101 Noodle Express closes at 9:30…Sure, I could hit up D&B or Bar Louie or something at the mall, but I’m not looking for Americana tonight, I’m looking for an adventure… this is the SGV, my friends… There’s something… The sign outside reads MACHIFUSION. Fusion is so trendy right now. Picturing the menu, is it going to be Roy’s fusion, Don Chow fusion or Garden Café fusion, I’m down for whatever, really… Parking was a mess, but there was a spot open at the BofA a few doors down. Walking up to Machi, I noticed a dive bar next door with what sounded like young white people in the smoking patio(who knows though, they may have been ABCs). Interesting… Okay, so here’s Machi… The Patrons: Taiwanese kids in their early 20’s… The Décor: Pretty minimalist… benches and tables… The Staff: A cook and a server… The Menu: Taiwanese bar food… We sit, and my girlfriend says«their furniture looks like leftover pieces from Ikea bookshelves». She was right, the benches looked like they had upholstered Ikea’s Billy bookcase. Looking down at the menu, it reminded me of The Brochette( ), pretty standard Taiwanese barfood, Chicken Tail, Taiwanese Sausage(with garlic that stays with you for days), Duck Tongue, etc… I was wondering, what exactly make this place«MACHIFUSION»? Is it the escargot? Is it because you call it calimari and not squid? Who knows? The server approaches with a «they must be confused» look on her face and recommended that we try their calimari and their house special fried rice. We took her advice ordering the calimari, the fried rice(shrimp and bacon are as good as they sound together), Taiwanese sausage, and of course a beer. I believe the choices were Bud Light, Amber Bock and Kirin. I chose the latter. I had expected a pint, when a half-liter of Kirin arrived for me =) Looking around at the other tables, they were taking advantage of the Thursday night special… buy one, get one free pitchers(the promotion what posted on the wall in Chinese). The pitchers are unique, including an ice-filled core to keep the beer COLD… however volume that the ice takes up along with the small drinking glasses, gives you a really misleading idea as to how much beer you are actually getting. The service was slow. It’s not clear to me if it’s because the kitchen was slow or because the server spent a lot of time chatting with the other customers… I really need to learn Mandarin already… The food was pretty average for what it was… Sorry, Laura… ________________________ Notes: * Unless you’re ordering«snacks», it’s a bit pricey * Thursday night, buy one get one free pitchers of beer * No one was smoking INSIDE… I found this surprising * There is a karaōke system, I’m not sure what night it’s used

Came here for a drink and some food with my friend(Tina C). Tina is Taiwanese so she suggested we come here. We ordered: clams with melons broiled chicken with onions escargot and liver Loved the escargot and clams. Everything else was okay. Four stars for letting me order the whole bottle of Johnny Black. The price was very reasonable for the bottle. I need to go back as we didn’t quite finish the bottle.

There are many TW beer house restaurants around this area… i believe the most popular place would be Indian? Well, i think Machi has one biggest advantage over Indian in my opinion… which is that Machi’s chef presents higher quality of food and he doesn’t use TOOMUCH oil like Indian. Knowing that the trend now a days is to be healthy and live well… i prefer Machi much better! Most of their dishes are very yummy! Especially the sweet sauce pork chop!!! Or you can ask the waitresses for recommendations! They are very friendly and helpful! :)

I come here about twice a week. The food is so so but is a nice place to drink and just hang out w/your friends. Here you can’t complain about the service, cause they are GREAT! The food here are basically goes w/beer or sake, Here always remind me of taiwan. Their skewer is nice too. Here are my favorite skewer(shrimp, corn, chicken butt). There is 2 thing you can’t miss it… marinate clam & white salted chicken. Yum~ They have special on Tuesday $ 1 per skewer(not all varieties) and on Thursday something about beer.

I go to Machi’s a lot. Its one of those typical Asian drinking places in the San Gabriel area. Every time I go there with my friends, its all about chilling, drinking and playing drinking games. Occasionally we celebrate a birthday there(previously), but since we’ve gone there so many times, the«newness» of it all disappeared, and it is now just a hang out place. Pitchers are the way to go, and they have big sake bottles too. There’s a lot of different«busy» food on the menu — food eaten while you’re drunk lol. Although Machi’s isn’t one of the restaurants that sticks out, its one of the few places I go to when my friends and I want to go chill and drink.

Friendly service and a lot of menu items, however it lacks good food. The restaurant is very cold and weirdly decorated. It reminds me of an Ikea ad, 6 times in a row. The desk like tables are bulky and borderline tacky. Food– Calamari Salad stuffed with cucumbers– gross. Comes with mayonnaise. I ate 3 and wanted to throw up. Three Cups Chicken– not good either. Very average in taste. Cabbage with Bacon– overly salty. I wanted to «wash» my cabbage in water so I could eat it. Pork spareribs in Passion fruit Sauce– looked nice however it was all fatty meat. I felt like I was eating battered fat. THEONLYREDEEMINGQUALITY??? Skewers. The beef with pineapple was good, the fillet wrapped in bacon was good and the grilled corn was outstanding. I would skip this joint altogether. Too many other great places in the area for you to waste a meal here.
