Established in 1993.

Cynthia D. King, our director began teaching dance to beginning preschool students through outreach programs in varying locations in Buncombe County. A studio location was established so that these dancers could continue their dance education in the same supportive environment that they were accustomed to in these classes at their individual school locations.

Business Owner

Cynthia D. King, Director of Idea Factory, Inc. relocated to the Asheville area over twenty years ago with her husband, Kevin, from the metropolitan New York/​New Jersey Area.

Born into the cultural center of metro NY/​NJ, she quickly learned to enjoy all aspects of the fine arts. This love led to her pursuit of dance in NYC, where she studied with the Joffrey Ballet, the Alvin Ailey Dance Co., Luigi, Frank Hatchett, Judy Ann Bassing and Henry LeTang, among others.

Cynthia was a featured performer with the American Modern Dance Theater, based in the 14^th Street Theater in NYC. She also was a member of the Kennedy Dancers, a touring dance company based in NJ. Ms. King traveled extensively throughout the Eastern United States as an actress, dancer and choreographer prior to her settling in Asheville.

In the Asheville area, «Miss Cynthia» has offered dance programs since February 1993, sharing her love of dance with more children every year.
