The Mountain Metalsmiths School of Jewelry & Lapidary

My uncle and I drove 11 hours in the rain to Asheville from Washington, DC to study with Dave and Ruthie on the Orion Welder 200I (2). The drive and traffic were well worth it. We were able to enjoy a hands on private learning experience on a tool we’d owned and been learning on by online tutorials for a few months.
Being able to ask questions, work out problems and scenarios, and gain good tricks and tips on the machine was very helpful to our learning process, and I’m sure they apply the same dedication from our lesson to all of their classes and workshops.
They are proficient in their knowledge of the different Orion Welders, and would be a great aid of information and training if you were interested in purchasing or learning about them.

I attended a special workshop this weekend that Dave Albert and Ruthie Cohen set up for my niece and I. The workshop was designed to help familiarize Emily and I with using an Orion pulse arc welder 200I (2) for jewelry fabrication and repair.
As Goldsmiths and jewelry Instructors ourselves I feel very qualified to leave this review for Mountain Metalsmiths, Emily and I left the workshop very satisfied with the experience which far exceeded the original scope of our agreed curriculum.
Dave and Ruth, beyond being experienced metalsmiths, also represent and distribute the products Orion produces and have help develop many of the features of their latest offering. Their wide knowledge of Orions latest pulse welder and metallurgy was great for us to tap. We left with all the questions we had developed and with a new sense of excitement over our new shop equipment.
