Active Lock & Key

Mark from Active Lock was able to fit us in somewhat last minute (I called two days before we closed on a new house, on the first of a month). Including re-​arranging his schedule a bit when our closing went long. He was efficient in his time and explained a few things to me for consideration when I replace lock hardware in the near future. Love these guys! They changed my locks no problem and very quickly. I also have used them for duplicating Keys. Great service and very professional.

My husband and I were done to one key for our 2014 Camry. Active Lock made us new keys at a reasonable price. I’ve had to do the same thing before and went to the dealer and this was a much better experience and less expensive. I highly recommend this locksmith.

Friendly and super fast service. I have used their services several times and they always showed up at my business location within an hour. On one occasion, my sister-​in-​law who lives in Schaumburg lost her house key and they got there in less than 20 minutes. That was very impressive!

Excellent service and communication. I needed a car key for our new car (lost the duplicate a few weeks after we purchased the car!). They were honest, and provided great service. We saved a lot of $$ by not going through the car dealership. Glad I found them!

I would definitely suggest to come here to get all your locks re-​pinned and keys made. The service they provide is just excellent and they just made it easy for me. Since I’m not a very handy kind of person and I do not know what to say as to what I want done, they were able to understand my gibberish. I would come back here again if need be.

Called for an estimate to re key 4 locks and they quoted a very reasonable price. We dropped in and they were busy but promised to have them done with in the hour. They called on less than an hour and the price was about ½ the price of the last place I had locks changed. Reasonably priced fast proffesionsl service. A win!

My husband locked his keys in our car while it was running. They were out within 30 minutes. It was a very cold day and it took two different guys to get the keys out, but they were great. Great service, very prompt and very polite.

I locked my keys in my car. The guy on the phone was super friendly and nice. He told me someone was nearby and should be able to be at my car in 10 – 30 min. He was there in under 10 min! Which was great for me since I was late to work and it was like 20 degrees out. He got my door open right away! Great experience. Thanks again for saving the day.

My business has been in Arlington Heights for 25 years. I have had occasion to use Active Lock which is around the corner multiple times in that time. Although Dale the owner has helped me, I have had great interactions with al of the staff. Whether I have had them come out to fix the front door or just gets keys done because I needed yet another set for my employees they treat the job with the same level of interest and care. I am a big fan of learning and being educated about why something is being done and not just the price of a job. I have learned you can always find something cheaper but will get what you pay for. Their insights have saved me money in the past in not having to do the job again later. Dr Martin Matus

Severe price gouging going on here. Wanted to charge me $ 25 for a trim piece I got at a competitor for $ 4. Stay clear.

Wow! This guy was a major jerk on the phone to me! He said he’d have to send a man and a truck to come unlock my car as a reason to why his quote was so high. I asked why he needed to bring a truck, like why did he specify truck, as opposed to a car, and was because it needed to get towed? He got real sassy with me, saying that his guys didn’t ride bicycles. Don’t call this guy unless you want to get some attitude.

I have worked with Active Lock and key on a few separate occasions. In all of my dealings with them, the associates have been so helpful and professional. They responded quickly, and answered all of my questions. I trust them, and will use them for locksmith needs in the future.

The owner of this company is a very rude and angry individual. He screams and swears uncontrollably obviously has anger management issues. I have a 3 flat in Chicago that I needed 24 locks changed out on. This is the last type of person that I would want to deal with for something like that.

Called these guys for an estimate of work. I needed to contract some work to be done on some security doors that were vandalized. I needed one door re-​hinged, locks checked to ensure they still worked, install strike plates which were stolen and overall just make sure everything worked as usual. It took more than four days to get a free estimate. Granted at this time there was one day of unruly weather which I can understand, still, four days to bid on a project is too long, when the work isn’t extreme. (Remember, the security door is out of order until the repair occurs. Time is of the essence in these matters.)
After fumbling between different employees that lost my contact info and other shenanigans I was presented with an estimate almost 60% more than others I had received.
Active mentioned they would do a lot more technical work like inspecting the door, hinges, locks, arm, locking mechanism, etc Still a quote which is $ 600-​$ 800 to re-​install a used door is far too great. For that much money you can buy a brand new door with new hardware.
I ended up going elsewhere for the work.
In the future I would consider them for work, since they have an emergency line and a retail shop. In these areas, finding a shop for industrial needs at night is hard to do, since the options are very limited.
