H&R Block

Well, tax time is here and being the lazy SOB that I am, felt that I would give H&R a whirl this year. I assume I’d be pretty easy to handle. I don’t own property, have no investments or tax writeoffs. I went in and met with Ken, who was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable enough. We sat there for about 40 minutes or so while he entered my info in the computer. Since my hubby wasn’t with me, I had to take paper work home for him to sign. Well once my hubs saw the fee and pretty much spit his entire coke out on my brand new couch, we decided that maybe the $ 175 bucks could have been better spent. Since there is «no obligation» to use their service, even after they work up your whole tax return, I called and advised them I’d be using good ‘olé Turbo Tax, and thanks for the time.
Well, the next day I had someone from the office call back to check the status of my paperwork because they filed my taxes for me and they needed it for their records. Ex-​squeeze me?! I about had a nervous breakdown since I submitted my taxes the night before. Was the conversation I had with Ken the day before a figment of my imagination? Well, after a few rounds of phone tag, we finally connected, he told me they were never submitted and not to worry.
I’m giving three stars because I felt like that was a form of manipulation for me to use their service. And trust me, if you don’t have any fancy tax issues then I’d seriously recommend just doing them yourself. $ 175 is just too much money for entering a few tidbits of info into a computer.
