Dr. Schroeder is very efficient and does the job right! Comfy waiting areas and reasonable wait times

Beware! I went for a free annual teeth cleaning, and they told me I had to have X-​rays done before. They did not get pre-​approval from my insurance first, and made me believe that the insurance was going to cover. They did not tell me that I would have to pay for the X-​rays from my pocket. I called my insurance and they told me that the office was supposed to call them before proceeding with the X-​rays, but they never did. Now they are threatening me with putting my account into collections. I already filed a complaint with the BBB, and hopefully they will solve the issue.
Meanwhile beware of their practices!
They just lost two customers (myself and my son) over $ 144.

I have been a patient of AHDG since my junior year of college – about 8 years ago, and I have been never ceased to be completely impressed with the professional, caring, and compassionate demeanor of the dentists and hygienists whom I’ve had the pleasure of being cared for by.
Dr. Schroeder does a lot of the exams and is very friendly, cares deeply for each patient as a person, and not just a mouth full of teeth or potential dental work. I have always enjoyed his company and expertise.
Dr. Johnson has to be one of the best and most expedient dentists I’ve ever seen. It’s amazing how quickly he is able to perform the work and do it with such quality.
Katie is the hygienist that I usually see. She has always been really friendly and knowledgeable, and remembers to ask me about things that I had told her the previous time I was in there – another indication that she really cares!
I’ve also seen Nancy and Pat, and they are both great as well!
My wife usually sees Jean, another one of the hygienists, and she always has great things to say. I can’t recommend this practice highly enough to people out there searching for a good dentist. I referred both my wife and her whole family over here, and they didn’t realize how poor the care they were receiving was at their old dentist until they came here. They are always amazed at the quality of care and professionalism here!

I have been coming here for my dental needs for about eight years. In this span of time, I have seen more and more customer amenities added to the office. They now have a wide variety of magazines in the waiting room, k-​cup coffee, tea, and cider, televisions in the exam rooms so you can watch TV while they clean your teeth, coupons for high-​end toothpaste, brushes, and floss at the counter, and little single-​serve chapsticks for when your lips get chapped during cleanings. If they splash you with stuff during the cleaning, you are brought a warm lemon water towel to wash your face. What next – a pedicure while they do my dental x-​rays?!?
The staff is also very good about working with your insurance. Sometimes, they will actually check for you in advance to see what your coverage for a service will be, so you don’t have to. I thought they always did this, but it does depend on who you are seeing, so I ended up freaking out once because nobody told me that a) my night guard costs HOW MUCH?!? or 2) my insurance was not covering a dime of it. Luckily, this office does offer payment plans for when these things happen, and I was able to rescue my checking account from certain doom with a three-​installment plan. Make sure you ask about this if you think you might want it, though, because again, it may or may not be mentioned to you, depending on who is working.
Over the years, I have also noticed that they sometimes give customers little perks. I got a free repair to my night guard once. Another time, they had trial packs of some kind of moisturizer in the bathroom for customers, and another time, there were mouthwash samples up at the front desk. Even the toothbrush they send you home with is a step up from the bottom-​tier, plastic stick kind some dentists give you.
Scheduling, however, has not gotten any easier! They are open one Saturday a month, and everyone wants that Saturday appointment. The staff are willing to work with you and look up a ton of times to try to find one that works for you, but sometimes you still end up getting your cleaning scheduled a month later than you should because they’re just that busy. With friendly hygienists, dentists who are careful not to hurt your mouth, and all the little extras, though, it’s worth the trouble.
