Alonzo and his employee moved my family this last weekend from Arlington to Richmond. This is the second time they have moved us. We were highly impressed and thankful we hired them, just as we were with the first move. They are always professional from start to finish. They also have the most affordable prices around. They are honest and genuine people. They don’t nickel and dime you like some companies would. All of our friends have used them for their moves as well. They have a great reputation across the area. I highly, highly recommend them! Thank you Alonzo!

We’ve used Alonzo and his crew for two different moves now and they have been fantastic. They show up on time (even a little early) and give 110% the whole time. Nothing was damaged in either move and they were fast and efficient. Plus, their rates are great!

We have used A&A Moving on 2 occasions and on both occasions they have proven to be professionals through and through. Alonzo and his co-​worker (sorry I forgot the other gentleman’s name) arrived on time, were friendly, had a great attitude, they did everything possible to make the move as easy as possible for my disabled mother. They used great care both in loading her furniture and valuables in the truck and maximizing the space in the truck to ensure everything fit. Alonzo made her feel comfortable and like everything would be taken care of by asking several times throughout the experience, if there was anything else that she needed. They went above and beyond when my mom grossly underestimated how much stuff she had and they ended up staying more than 4 hours past when they were supposed to be done, ensuring that she and her belongings would make it to her new house (4 states away) in time to meet the other movers the next morning. I would not hesitate to recommend A&A Movers to anyone, and hope to be able to use them again, should I have to move again.

Alonzo and Jose were amazing! They were quick, friendly, and professional, and perfectly packed my apartment into the tiny pod I had rented. Not to mention the hourly rate was by far the most reasonable out of any moving company I contacted. Alonzo was also great about answering the phone/​getting back to voice mails, which was a problem I had with other movers.

Excellent, start to finish. Leaving town for the summer, we needed to put our household goods in storage. Our movers were on time, efficient and hard working. We had a three hour window to empty my apartment and have it stored into a storage unit before they closed at 6 pm. I thought my unit was large enough, but after getting our household goods into the truck and we started loading the unit it looked way to small. Our mover shifted into space utilization mode and was able to fit everything in, without an inch to spare and by 6. Did I mention it was hot and poured rain during the move? Our movers we’re kind, careful and hardworking. We will DEFINITELY call them again when we move back into town and move our stuff back into our new home!

I’ve done 7 moves, being military and this company was in the bottom tier. They didn’t bring enough furniture pads, no plastic wrap, they did have 1 furniture dolly, but no hand trucks — hence all boxes were inefficiently carried by hand wasting a lot of time and using too much effort.
They also left a giant scar in the driveway (from the moving truck) and a large hole in my wall moving a couch. They offered to return the next day and repair the damage, then never returned and didn’t respond to calls or texts.
All in all, they were very nice guys, but didn’t have great work ethic and were poorly organized and poorly supervised.
I would love to have paid them a flat fee, but they wouldn’t accept any terms other than hourly — now I understand why.
In a pinch, I’d use them again, but only as a last resort.

We moved back from Colorado and had a storage container that needed to be emptied. We called Alonzo at the last minute and he was super helpful. We also changed the date because it was raining and Alonzo was very flexible. The three guys were very polite, quick and helpful. I would definitely recommend them and use them again.

Stay away! Let’s just say, you get what you pay for. We had booked them for two hours and were tight on time since our apartment only allowed us to have the freight elevator for 2 hours a day. These guys were unprofessional and slow. First, they showed up 15 mins late (it was a Wednesday morning). Ok… we have 1 hr and 45 mins left to use the elevator. The guys refuse to lift anything by themselves, everything must be done by a dolley, so my husband himself is the one unloading the truck while the guys essentially just push the dollies from the truck to the apartment. I watch them enter the apartment with falling boxes and they say, «whoops, good thing it didn’t say fragile on it.» As they moved my dresser into the closet, they scratched the closet door (there goes my security deposit!). A lot of our furniture came with dents and scratches that were not there prior. Despite boxes being marked fragile or light, they would put those on the bottom of their dolley. And despite showing up late, their boss kept calling them on the phone asking if they were done yet, because they had another job to get to. I’m sorry, I paid for 2 hours of your time, stop taking water breaks, personal phone call breaks, talking to your boss breaks — get the job done!
A poor operation. Would certainly never, never hire them again or recommend them to anyone.

When I moved to the area in Sept. 2013, I used a POD and had a short time frame to unpack before I started my job. Not adequately planning ahead, I called A&A Movers the week before I needed help and they luckily were able to help.
The two guys that helped me unpack the POD were very polite, quick, and very helpful. I highly recommend A&A Movers. I will definitely be using them again.

A&A moved me into my new apartment on Saturday and they were fantastic. Both guys who did my move were friendly and professional. The move was completed quickly and pricing was just as they told me.
This was my first time using a professional moving service and now I wouldn’t do anything else, it was so simple. I’ve already recommended A&A to a friend who will be using them this weekend.

I used A&A Moving over the holiday weekend (July 3^rd) and Alanzo and his guys were amazing! Alanzo was quick to respond to my text messages and answered all of my questions. Then, his guys (Rio and Aaron) were wonderful! We had just put in new hardwood floors in our house and both Rio and Aaron were VERY cautious about picking of the furniture to set in place.
My only regret was not having enough cash to give a really good tip because they did such a great job!

Last Friday, at the last possible minute, I needed to find movers and I utilized the services of A&A Moving. I have to say that I probably shouldn’t have waited to the last possible minute to hire movers because at the end of the month this is both costly and time-​consuming. However, the owner Alonzo & Associates were able to accommodate me. They were the only moving company in the area able and willing to help without price-​gouging me and taking advantage of my desperate last-​minute need. They made moving out less stressful and more manageable.
I actually felt like I was in the company of professionals. They were swift, and efficient in moving a 1BR into a truck and storage unit. I loved the overall experience of working with A&A Moving and I would definitely recommend this company’s services to friends and colleagues.
Above all, the cost to move my things was affordable, and A&A Moving Company is a company that understands the stress and physically strain that comes along with moving. They make their customers feel at ease knowing that their items are being moved are in the hands of moving professionals, who strive to make one’s experience amazing and stress free.

I had a great experience overall!
The good: the fees were pretty much exactly as stated. There was an extra $ 25 fee hidden somewhere (driving fee or something like that) but I figured that wasn’t so bad as far as these things go. 2 guys came, they were strong, experienced, and extremely hard working. They didn’t even want to take a break for water, I was amazed. They worked for 4 hours and only slowed down slightly at the end. I trusted them with my things.
The bad: the only bad thing is that they came 30 minutes later than promised. Not a big deal.
Bottom line: great experience, I would definitely move with them again!

This past weekend I moved and used A&A for the move. I have to say AMAZING. They managed to take all the stress out of a very stressful process. I was moving from a 1.5 bedroom and loft apartment to a 1 bedroom and den apartment about a mile away. The job was estimated to take between 3 – 4 hours.
The two movers took less than two hours! Incredibly efficient, and honestly talented at filling the truck, these guys were great. All of my furniture was handled skillfully and with care. These guys respected my stuff, but were quick and efficient.
The price was also really good when compared with other local companies. Will definitely call them again next time I move.

This move was more frustrating than it needed to be, mostly because these guys came without supplies. NOTHING. This is a low-​budget operation. If you need a truck, you need to fork over another $ 100 to cover the cost of the U-​Haul rental. No bungee cords or wedges to hold doors open. One tool set (no power tool!) being used for multiple sites. Calling your friends and paying them with pizza? That’s what you are doing with these guys.
The first mover guy showed up half an hour late, and the second guy showed up about 10 minutes later.
They had a tool set, but no power tools. Which is great if you are a mover being paid by the hour. After taking apart my bed frame, Alonso took off with the tools to use at another site. Which meant my curtain rod screws couldn’t be removed. To his credit, Alonso came by at the end of the move (after some angry texts and a phone call on my part) and offered to make it right (update: in his response below, he says his company doesn’t remove things from walls. what?). At that point, I was already in my new place and was super annoyed that the move took longer than expected.
These guys also didn’t have anything to cover my mattress. They asked if I had garbage bags, and I had one. They tore it apart, and tried to fit it over one side of my mattress, with my tape (at least they didn’t charge me). They must have dropped it (on the dirty rainy ground) while loading it onto the van. I added a picture so you can see the damage.
I’d give the whole operation two stars. The movers are nice enough, but they weren’t professional. What mover doesn’t have a power tool? Or a bungee cord? And Alonso, a nice guy, didn’t offer to make things right (he ignored multiple texts and phone calls) until I told him I would write a review. Then he was responsive…
IN RESPONSE to Alonso’s comment below that my reviews are mostly complaining, I’d note that, to date, 165 of the 221 reviews I wrote to date are very positive. That’s hardly me «mostly complaining.» He also stated that «I didn’t order packing materials,» and that is why my stuff was damaged, but those were never on offer. His over-​the-​phone sales pitch is that the price is what it is. No gimmicks. No surprise charges for packing materials. They would bring everything. Except, they didn’t.

Alonzo helped us with our last move (2.5 hours, labor only) and we were very impressed. He took care to check in with me ahead of time — even when we had to do a crazy phone tag thing for two days he was persistent.
I found him to be extremely professional. He took care to move things using our blankets so nothing would get scratched. He and his partner somehow fit our couch into our apt elevator sparing the hideous carrying down six flights of stairs (should have hired him when we moved in!).
He and his partner were helping us move while it was snowing and they worked quickly but effectively even with some ice on the sidewalk (My friend and I shoveled most snow but some patches of iciness remained when they arrived).
I will absolutely contact him again next time we need things moved.
