Face it, nobody *wants* to get a colonoscopy. But since you’ve got to do it, you should go to the best doctor, anesthesiologist and office staff. My mother has Chrohn’s Disease so(lucky me!), I had to begin getting colonoscopies in my 20s. Fast forward 15 years and I’m still going to the same doctor, Tarek Al-Assi, MD, at Texas Digestive Disease Consultants(TDDC). There are numerous locations throughout the metroplex, so I’ll clarify that I am speaking about the Arlington office in the Vandergriff building. Pros: Paperwork is available to download online. You don’t have to call 6 months in advance for an appointment. Dr. Al-Assi is friendly and has a terrific bedside manner. Unbelievably, all of the following were friendly and exceptionally pleasant to work with: receptionists, phlebotomist, admissions nurses, the anesthesiologist and the discharge nurses. Cons: Yeah, I know this is a reach, but it matters to me. There aren’t any«Turn off your cell phone» signs. Small waiting rooms + loud cell phone talker = grouchy me.
