Barrington Management is a full service condominium management company. Serving the condominium industry since 1994, Barrington manages a portfolio of over 80 clients totaling over 3500 units. Barrington’s experienced management team is active in CAI and holds the industry designations of CMCA and AMS. While Barrington has many prestigious larger clients, Barrington specializes in smaller association in the Boston area. Barrington’s management is complimented by a fully licensed maintenance and janitorial division offering services to its properties that don’t require full-​time building staff. This unique aspect of Barrington makes it suitable to service clients of all sizes.

Business Owner

Nicholas B. Boit, President of Barrington Management, Nicholas has over seven years’ experience in the financial services and banking industry and over twenty-​five years’ experience in real estate management. Prior to forming Barrington Management, Nicholas was Director of Residential Management at Hunneman Management Company, where he was involved in a mix of residential, commercial and institutional properties. Nicholas is a member of the Community Association Institute (CAI) and is a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) and an Association Management Specialist (AMS) both nationally recognized designations. Nicholas also has completed all coursework to becoming a Certified Property Manager (CPM). Nicholas holds a Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License.

Barrington Management took over managing our complex in Late October. I and several of my neighbors have called several times to complain about lukewarm or cold hot water occurring at random times. This happens morning and night. They have responded by telling me I am the only one experiencing the problem, or that it must be a problem inside my unit. I have been able to get documentation that other residents in the complex are experiencing this issue as well.
The company has told me to go out and «feel the pipes» on the water heater. I did this a couple of times and informed them that the pipe on the middle tank (the oldest one felt cold). They did nothing to resolve the issue. They have said they will call a plumber, or have called a plumber, but the plumber found nothing wrong, or speculated that the problem only affected me. As an owner I am very frustrated with this problem. If I was renting out this unit I would be held liable, though I have very little control over the problem.
To add insult to injury, they recently raised our condo fees to pay for this poor and unresponsive service. I must add, I’m rather suspicious of the 5 star reviews. They must have their administrative assistants write one to compensate for every 1 star review. There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground with their ratings, which to me signifies that people are inspired to rate them when they are highly disappointed, other than that they are pretty mediocre.

Worst management conpany ever– You will never reach the person you want. I had terrible problems with my apartment since they took over the management – including heat and masonary work, noise etc,

I purchased a condo maintained by them and the only bad part of the whole process was Barrington management. I’m surprised at how poor their service is. They don’t keep to their word and are quite rude when questioned about it saying it’s not their problem. Really unhappy with their service.

Dear lord, this is the most incompetent apartment Management company I’ve ever encountered, especially the lady who works in the client service department. I wish I could post her name but Unilocal is preventing me from doing so. The fact that I’m re-​posting my review should give you an indication of just how upset I am about their incompetence:
«My apartment complex is managed by Barrington Management and for the past 3 months I’ve been trying to get two keys for the bike room in our building from them. One for me and one for my roommate. After sending them a check for 50 dollars for both keys (which they cashed rather promptly), numerous phone calls/​emails were made but the first key did not arrive until mid-​November, 2 months after our initial request. Many more phone calls and angrier emails were exchanged and I still haven’t seen that second bike key. It’s not that she didn’t answer our emails or calls, she often times did, assure us that the keys will be sent „right away“ but then somehow promptly forgets all about it until our next phone call. At this point, I’m not sure if she is really that absent-​minded or if she is doing this with malicious intent. Either way, let’s hope that you don’t end up with someone like her handling your requests because nothing will ever get taken care of.»
**update** yes we FINALLY got the second bike key, and we got it like the week before winter break (12⁄20) AND only after we cc’ed the company president on the email to prompt action.
I recommend you check out the filtered reviews also. Kinda suspicious that the «good» reviews for the company popped up only a few days before my review was removed…

This property manager deserves a bad review indeed.
None of the various initiatives we or even they had were completed. Vents cleaning, e-​mails exchange, etc… All the communication dies on their side. All issues are not clearly communicated.
