Description

Specialties

I am a nutritionist, with 30 years of experience in helping people with diabetes, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol and other problems.

I am particularly helpful for people with chronic, inflammatory problems, like arthritis, colitis, hepatitis and MS.

I call my treatment approach «metabolic therapy» … a blend of special foods and vitamins, to help the body mend. Example: arthritis is not a Motrin deficiency disease, it is a sluggish repair problem.

High cholesterol is a problem of either the liver making too much, or the body cells not clearing it out of the blood fast enough. It is not a Lipitor deficiency condition. Certain foods help move cholesterol along better.

Some people feel too emotionally connected to food, and would like to alter the relationship. With Transactional Analysis and emotional support, they learn to peacefully co-exist with food. Many lose 50 lbs and more.

I also use Tong Ren therapy (energy healing) to improve metabolism and repair.

History

Established in 2007.

Over the span of 30 years, I have provided nutritional counseling at many places, including the Harvard University Student-Faculty Health Service, at Dimock Health Center, at The Fenway Community Health Center, at Beth Isreal Hospital and at Lynn Community Health Center. I am now in private practice in Arlington.

Business Owner

I am a dietitian for 30 years, of counseling, lecturing and research experience. Past affiliations include being at Harvard University, in the student & faculty health service for 14 years. I was affiliated with the Framingham Heart Study for 10 years, a position I left to devote more time to nutrition and immunology, particularly HIV and hepatitis care, plus Crohn’s disease and colitis. I have lectured nationally. I have written 3 books: EAT UP! HIV Nutrition, EAT UP! HCV Nutrition, and most recently, Eat Up: Distance Cycling. I enjoy playing sports. I was a competitive triathlete from age 40 – 50. I have calmed down now, and just bike, swim, ski and play hockey.
