Chuggin’ Monk

Boston and Jason Caswell make this a place to go! Service industry people should make this an after work spot, since they’ll take excellent care of you! Highly recommended.

So the story behind this bar… I heard that the previous owners were pulling out and the staff didn’t want to see it go so they bought it.
That being said, there’s nothing fancy about Chuggin’ Monk. They have drinks, lots of pool tables, a ping pong table, video game machines, TVs with sports on, and a digital jukebox. I don’t know what else you need for a good time. They definitely don’t put on any airs that this place is anything more than that.
The bartenders are really nice. The first time I went there I told one of them I like lots of limes, ever since every time I go she lines my glass with limes. Just little things that show the bartenders (aka possibly the owners) care to bring their customers back.
Could this place be spruced up a bit? Definitely. There’s an area for darts (dart board is up) but it’s being used for storage. The drink selection is ok, but it’s fairly barebones. I don’t have a lot of complaints, though. If they want to do more with it to attract more customers, it wouldn’t hurt, but as is, it’s actually a lot of fun!
I will remove a star because there’s room for improvement, but I definitely wouldn’t want to see the place go and hope the patronage only increases!

Get local place to chill and listen to some great live music or rock the jukebox.

Seems to be going downhill. Saw a few good shows there, pretty nice crowd. Last few times it’s a high degree of d-​baggery. Bar is agonizingly slow. Something wrong with ventilation? I’m a smoker, and go to a lot of smoky bars. But this place stung my eyes. I think I’ll stay away from now on, unless they make some changes to bring in a more tasteful crowd.

Great staff but owners set it up to fail only 1 well station and pos for whole bar. Slammed and I see bartenders waiting for 5 minutes to use the pos station. Omg stay away from restrooms.

This place is the tits! I’m so glad Arlington has a chill spot that does live music and not the shitty cover bands like everyone else! They’ve got classic arcade games and cheap drinks!
Air hockey and skee ball… Thank you! Definitely worth a check out! Go on one of the live music nights, you won’t be disappointed!

Stopped by for the first time to watch the NFL playoffs. The staff is friendly and attentive. They had a live music when we stopped by and there’s plenty of pool tables and other things to do at this place. Domestic beers were $ 3.50.

We went during the big Iceageddon. It was empty, like one person empty. I like the set up but it is a bit outdated but I am sure it will be changed as well towards a more upbeat modern set up. I liked the live music area, of course noone was playing.
The bartender was nice and talkative, well he didnt have a lot of other people at the bar exept our crowd. My BF of course had to haggle for the Whiskey drinks but the bartender was super nice and professional, cudos.
I really think this place has great potential on a busy night with great music, I MUST check it out when there is no 10inch ice and a band playing. I am not a billards fan unfortunately, but if you are, you might be in heaven.
Too bad it was that weekend, i have been trying to go to this place ever since it changed ownership.
The drinks were nicely poured, but. sorry to say the female bathrooms are a bit. in need of paint :) other than that i loved it!

I stopped in here for a beer since I was in the area. I met the new owners and they have some big plans. I have heard this particular spot was not the place to be in the past, but the new guys are serious about a turnaround. Jason, one of the owners, has been in the business quite awhile and has some great ideas. More live music, refurbished interior and tables to name a few.
