History
Established in 1970.
In the early 1970s, a group of young followers of Jesus founded a church out of a Boston college campus. We were excited about worship, about learning to live a life energized and directed by the Spirit of God, excited about relationship, community, and learning to live as servants of God in the world He loves. Our founding pastor was Erick Schenkel. He and his wife Elizabeth led and loved us for nearly twenty-five years as wise and gifted pastors, evangelists, and teachers.
The fledgling church moved several times: Central Square, then to Belmont, then to Lawrence, and finally, in 1985, to Arlington. We purchased the former Arlington Heights Baptist Church building in 1994 and moved our school into the building in 1996. This building has been our physical home ever since!
