D & V Auto Service Center

Where do I start? I guess this is the first time I’ve been significantly let down by Unilocal reviews. Usually they are pretty close to what to expect and give you a good idea. I had gone to a large chain to have tires mounted and balanced before and was left with a bad taste in my mouth not going to name names… NTB…and figured I’d go to a local shop and support them this time around.
I still want to go to a local shop, but, not this one. The truck I brought to them was NOT a looker, I’ll give them that. And the issues I had are really minor nitpicks when it comes to the overall scheme of things. The reason for the low rating is that I just did not feel respected at all as a customer and a complete lack of communication.
I needed new tires to pass inspection, so I had them ordered and took them by D&V after calling ahead of time to make an «appointment.» So much for that. I night dropped the truck so it would be there in the morning for the 8AM slot. Next morning. Nothing. No call, nothing. I walked by the shop around lunch time and saw they had moved the truck to the back corner of the lot from where I parked it. Still no word. Whole day goes by. Nothing.
Next day, I’m busy in the morning, so I call around 1:30 — «Hi I’m calling for an update on the black Toyota» «Yeah…» «Uhhh…it’s the back corner of the lot and dropped it off 2 days ago?» «Oh, I don’t handle that sort of thing call back later»
To make a long story shorter, I felt really bad after that phone call and complete lack of communication. 3 days later when they got the new tires on… they had put them on backwards. I was done. I could not even let them correct it (not that they really offered to so I wasn’t sure if I was going to be charged for it!) and took it to Gus and the BP up the street (Immediately respectful, and communicative — left a 5 star review for his shop),
TL;DR — I did not mind the time. I really didn’t. They could have taken a week to put them on. It was just the COMPLETE lack of communication. TELL ME you are busy when I first make the appointment not 2 days later! Better yet, don’t make any new appointments until the queue is cleared up a bit!

My check tire pressure light came on earlier this week. After reading these reviews I decided to take it over there to see if D & V might be able to take a look. These reviews are not wrong, great service, quick, professional and got the problem fixed in a matter of minutes free of charge. Highly recommended.

I’ve brought my car here a few times. They are honest, reasonably priced, and don’t try to oversell me with work I don’t need. I went in for front end brakes once, expecting they’d tell me that I need to replace the back as well, and they said — nope, you’ve got about 70% wear left in them. They also work reasonably fast, communicate well, and finish when they say they will finish. And don’t do work without calling you for your ok first.
The only downside is that they are often hard to get an appointment with.

Great price, VERY fast service, tire had a huge nail stuck in it caused a flat, Norman from this service center dropped what he was doing, patched my tire, fixed air pressure on the others, changed my tire, all in 10 – 15 minutes total! On a Sunday!!!

Outstanding and trustworthy service! They are a neighborhood mechanic and gas station. I’ve been getting a regular fill-​up here for 2 years but I began hearing a noise in the engine area. They had it fixed in 24 hours at a fair price. So glad I didn’t go to the Volvo dealership – they would have charged much more and they would have taken a lot longer.

I had scheduled an appointment to get my oil change and tires rotated but ended up having to go to the hospital right around the appointment time. I called them the day after to see if they could fit me in before a road trip, and not only did they find time (despite being booked up), they squeezed me in so I could go on the road trip and didn’t say a word about me missing the original appointment.
Price is great, service is wonderful, and if you are a regular, they will go above and beyond to help you out.

I noted a ticking sound as I was driving around and shortly thereafter, what a surprise, my tire pressure is dropping like… Well, it was dropping fast. So I call D&V and they say they will try to take care of it as quickly as possible. I drive in, they tell me to back up to the open door, my car is jacked up a minute later, the wheel is off and then it is back again less than 10 minutes later. They charged me $ 22 since the wheel had to come off the car and I am out of there in around 15 minutes.
I have seen longer pit stops at the Indy 500.
I had the work done last week and the pressure is holding up fine.
I definitely recommend these guys for tire repair.

Awesome place! Been going here for years, and ill never forget when I took my old old car there for repairs and they simply said what the car was not worth the money needed to spend to get it back on the road. Any dealership would have loved to been in that situation and charged $$$ knowing the car was going to break down again in 1000 miles!
Also a great place to take any potential used car you are going to buy, for like $ 100 they will put the car on a lift and poke around to make sure it is a good buy. If they give it the green light than you are buying a good car!

These guys are quick. Had a safety inspection/​emissions inspection very quickly. The mechanic was nice. and told me to quickly fix an item for inspection, instead of turning me away to come back.
I ran into another guy, who said that this place is reliable. He seemed trustworthy. So plan on going there for little things I need.

Honest, friendly, not at all pushy, and very competent. We have all our routine maintenance done at D & V.

We had just moved to the area about a month before buying a used car from a well-​known chain this past July. We needed a trustworthy mechanic to give us a second opinion, and turned to Unilocal.Luckily we found this D & V.
The owner and technical staff couldn’t have been more pleasant. They were able to look at the car on very little notice without too much of a wait, and even offered transportation. As other reviewers noted, the owner was extremely thorough and informative without being off-​putting or pushy. He was clear with us about our options and made us feel extremely comfortable.
Luckily our car was good to go, and it didn’t need servicing. We were able to drive it out of town later that day, feeling confident. But we are grateful to the shop for their expertise, and will definitely take it back there when it needs maintenance.
If you need a reliable car shop, I would highly recommend them!

Was on my way back to Hampton Roads and realized I had a flat. Owner was all business. Took off my tire, saw the nail, patched the hole, told me it should be fine. Charged me around $ 20. Drove back four hours that night. No problems. Weeks later and the tire is still good to go. It was a newer tire so I was glad he was able to quickly repair it and I didn’t have to replace it!
I found them on Unilocal and they were a lifesaver because they stay open later than most places. If you need an honest mechanic that won’t feed you any bull and will fix your car this is the place to go. Highly recommend.

I went in to get a slow leak checked. It was the day before a 3-​day holiday weekend. They checked it right away and explained the slow leak situation. They never tried to sell me something I didn’t need. I will go back here for future car needs. This place is for real! Honest mechanics — who knew?!

So awesome! I got a flat tire and instead of advising I pay for an expensive replacement, the guy recommended I go with a different brand and a lower speed rating to save money.
They had to order my tire, but the next day, I got a call saying the wrong tire was delivered (not their fault). He also mentioned my brake lights were out, but I declined correcting them at the time.
Anyway, the right tire was finally delivered and to make up for the shipping error, he replaced my brake lights for free! He also noticed my car was making a screeching sound on turns when he tested it out– so he fixed it. For free. I was seriously so impressed with these guys.

Just seriously awesome. Took my tire here because I had a slow leak that no one else could diagnose. After some investigation, they found a small hole, put a plug in, and off I went. I couldn’t ask for a better, honest service, and really quick.

Locally owned and honest. I had a tire with a slow leak that the dealer told me after three visits that I needed new tires. I took it to D&V on a Saturday morning and they told me in 15 minutes it was a nail. Plugged the tire and I was on my way for $ 22. Robbie is the owner and does an excellent job.

WOW, OH WOW. I found this place through Unilocal reviews and was not disappointed. I dropped by to have two nails removed from my tires, and they charged me $ 24. As I was leaving, Matt flagged me down and refunded part of it since they only had to patch one tire. WAIT, WHAT? A MECHANIC REFUNDED MONEY? I hope I don’t have car problems in the future, but if I do, I’m definitely coming to these guys!

They consistently have lower prices for gas than other places in Arlington. In addition, they have free air! Just make sure to bring a tire gauge when you go to fill up your tires.

I HATE going to a mechanic to get my car fixed. I have lived in the Arlington area for 3 years and have never needed any work done on my car. I checked many reviews and decided to go with D & V Auto Center. From the moment I walked into the shop I was treated with respect and dignity. Robbie was honest with me about what needed to be done on my car, and even told me I would be «OK» to drive back to my hometown over the weekend.
I cannot say enough great things about this place. I do not feel I was over charged and I felt my business was wanted and appreciated. I will be telling all of my friends about this place as we know the DC area is a very transient place and everyone is always looking for a good, honest mechanic. Will I return if more work is needed? YES.

Robbie runs a nice, honest business. I take my two personal cars and two work trucks there for routine maintenance. He will tell you straightforward what needs to be done, what should be done and what isn’t needed at that moment.
